    For anyone wondering why he wiped it after he appeared to spray it, he didn't spray it. If you barely hold down the trigger, you get clean air with no color/clear coat, useful for blowing off dust, etc...as you saw him do.

    i respect PRS and this guy cuz he scraped paint off binding without making a big fuckin deal like its the hardest thing in the world to do. homie did it here with his left hand (5:36) while old fashion guitar brands on this site making 7 min long videos about how "painstaking" it is...

    That's sweet, the maple figure really did jump out as it was sprayed.

    I hope they are paying you, because you are arguably the most important part of the process.

    What is it that Hannon adjusts every time on the spray before starting to coat the guitar?

      He's checking the atomization of the finish, also the fan pattern

    I have a Martin acoustic DX1AE natural finish, if I spray a clear top coat are this will affect the sound? thanks

    • @JonasGuitars
      @JonasGuitars 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mario Velazco it depends on the type of finnish you want to use expecially on acoustic guitars (electric guitars this is very minimal ) the finnishes have a perticulor effeckt on the sound thats part of the fun to experiment with ,have fun .

    The clear coat on my 2004 PRS has milky white patches around the neck joint and back of the neck. PRS don’t stand by the product and offer repair. They simply say we will refinish the guitar for 1900 dollars plus inspection fees and shipping. Not great when it’s a manufacturing defect! If any one out there knows a fix, please let me know!

    You dont seem to care to reply to your audience. But what do you do to ensure the paint actually dries so you can move the process along?

    • @JayTheWorst1892
      @JayTheWorst1892 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gotta love that cold shoulder huh?....... Well it's polyurethane finishes that they use, basically it's mixed with a catalyst and cures in 24 hours in temperature controlled workshops, 15 mins if they use IR heat lamps

    • @ziggybass8592
      @ziggybass8592 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Muchisimo Gracias Jesus! Your right there is no need for it. So basically it's a 2 pack right?
      Very durable finish but heavy!
      I found a Chapista (Car repainting) who resprays my instruments for me using the new water based paints and laqours. Then leaves it in the spray booth/Oven and bakes it on. Best finish I have ever seen and for 40 euros. Good Luck with the guitar. Embrazo!

      he probably has a heated paint booth so in 10- 20 mins it's dry to the touch. plus it only takes about 5 mins or less for base coat to tack up. I know i paint cars for a living

      The use a UV curable finish. The heating method is old; they do not use it.

    POLYURETHANE - that's what everyone uses now - even Fender! Top coat isn't clear coat - a lot of fools get that wrong!! Top coat can be anything - a solid colour or clear. But CLEAR COAT has no colouration. I too use the air pressure from my gun to blow out dust. And the finish has absolutely nothing to do with resonance! It has about as much to do with it as the colour does! IT'S SOLID!! The pickups, the type of neck and its' construction, and the fretboard wood and the size frets, and bridge all contribute to the sound of the instrument - not the fucking paint!!
