@@vicentehizon6202 tim rice entered the song writiing business to write pop songs this song definitely has a country feel to it. Lloyd webber was a classical/opera melody man.
I was the soloist for this song when I was 18, and it's one of my favourite solos I've had, only beaten by when I played Ursula the next year. This song is just so much fun. I miss doing Joseph so much 😭 I hope I can be in it again someday
What I find funny about this version of the song is that when Reuben gets to the part explaining what happened he goes, "to wrestle, with a goat?" As if to confirm that the brothers thought this up on the spot and yeah, in their heads it might've sounded good, but now that he says it out loud, he's like "really? this is what we're going with?"
It was a pun on how they made it look like Joseph was killed. They killed a goat, and used the blood from it to stain Joseph’s coat to make it look like he was killed by a wild animal.
What a brilliant musical! I love how they just run with the whole American Western theme for this number, even though it’s a UK musical set in the ancient Middle East
That guy playing Reuben is hilarious, and a terrific actor...He's actually the son of John Colicos, who played Kor in Star Trek and Baltar in Battlestart Galactica (the 1978 one).
Joseph is one of my favourite musicals. I saw it for the 2nd time when Jason Donavon played the role of Pharaoh at the Theatre Royal Newcastle. Everyone cheered when he came on and he was brilliant.
I'm wondering why Jacob wasn't concerned that his son, who had lots of experience tending sheep, was killed by a goat... :'D Regardless, I still love this movie/musical!
Saw the Donny Osmond Joseph many years ago (maybe late teen's early 20's.) Just turned 53 last Tuesday. Hopefully we will be able to go to live theater in the not so distant future. But I'm guessing it will be @ least a year or 2 from now.
Well, that was pretty touching... and yet this song could also fit in with Arthur Morgan and his sacrifice for the Marston family in Red Dead Redemption 2, but replace "blood-stained coat" with "bruises and TB". Nice one.
Why does Reuben sing this song when in the Bible, Reuben was the brother that secretly planned to rescue Joseph from the pit once his brothers had left? Seems like Reuben would be genuinely sad for Joseph.
The musical is great, the songs are wonderful and the acting is Outstanding. But the story is inaccurate. The brothers showed Jacob Joseph's shirt dipped in blood, and he said, "An animal has devoured my son." He tore his clothes, put on a sack, and mourned for his son for a long time. The brothers tried to comfort him, but they did not succeed
The woman has a gorgeous voice.
Who is she?
@@gertvbiljon I think it's Nicola Keen
@@callmeyourdai5y518 Thanks!
It's so amazingly clear and pitch-perfect.
@@callmeyourdai5y518 Thank you. I checked IMDB, she was in this movie as a "wife". So she may be the one.
This song is even more beautiful out of context. But I love when the brothers start celebrating afterwards with the wives.
I love the variety of songs used in this musical
That’s why this kind of show is called a pastiche. A melting pot of various musical genres
@@vicentehizon6202 tim rice entered the song writiing business to write pop songs this song definitely has a country feel to it. Lloyd webber was a classical/opera melody man.

Idk why but Ruben's Southern drawl is freakin hysterical XD X'D

I just got cast as her and I’m so scared to do it
I did it having 10🎉 yep, love that solo
"To wrestle....with a goat!" her face at 1:48 is like "The hell???"
Lol
So True😂😂😂😂
XD
Shes like "Honey I love you. But really. Thats the best you came up with."
Reuben does look like he’s struggling for an excuse there!😂

Exactly, Ruben really does look like he’s getting carried away with the story and saying the first thing that comes into his head! Hilarious!
It's even better if you watch his wife in the background. The way she just looks at him like '....wait, what now?'

One of the most underrated songs in the production x

I think he was the original Ruben in Jason Donovan’s version, if I remember rightly.
@@EditorOfSL I think he resembles his father a lot, the same delight in playing the "bad guy".
Deliberate variety of styles, from this Country Western, to Elvis Rock for Pharaoh
One of my favourite songs from this musical. This cast was sensational

One of brothers: "To wrestle.....with a goat!"😭

Goats arnt sheep though...are they??
I know, this movie was very much apart of my childhood
Jacob was naive and believed his sons to be honest, since he raised them to be
It is a joke for the musical anyway, no need to think hard
The brothers said that a dangerous animal had devoured Joseph, and to prove this, they dipped his shirt in goat's blood.
I am playing Rueben and I love this song and am so excited to sing it with my BFF!
Judah is trying to hide his laughter when he comes in.
SO LONG LITTLE JO
ADIOS, BUCKAROO
10-4 LITTLE BUDDY
im so gonna use these
My mom got us the 2002 Canadian cast soundtrack. They’re version of “One More Angel” sounded like “Blue Angel” by Aaron Tippin, and I LOVED IT!
My favorite song. My sister did this musical at her school.
i am a Narrator, and we are doing rehearsals at the moment but me and my BFF, almost cry to this song or at least i might
So long little Joe! Adios buckeroo! 10/4 good buddy! This song lives in my head rent free lol! 🤣

It takes a man who knows no fear to wrestle….with a goat!!!!
One more angel in heaven is this naphtali like very best man and really good xx
Rueben: What kind of a brother am I?!
My mum loved this (mainly because of donny she loved him) i need to watch it all again for her ❤️
The delivery of "let no tear be shed" + the accent😂

I'm so excited 😆 it is my show on the 13&14 of June 2017
Ella Hunter how did it go?!?
Omg I remember that I was Potiphars wife and my crush was Joseph at my school
Poor Joseph's mom. Her heart is breaking.
That's not his real mom, that's one of Jacob's wives..his real mom is dead.
She’s not his mother and she’s glad he’s dead. She’s just singing like that to appear sincere lol
I think it’s Reuben’s mum-
@@JessiIsHereOh, ok, thank you.

Omg my school is doing a production of Joseph’s coat 🎉
We are doing a joseph play and i am reuben so i am practising for this song

When I was in hebrew school, we were taught that in biblical Israel they spoke like cowboys and sometimes burst into french accents too 😂😂😂
If only VeggieTales did their own version of Joseph
What a way to tell your dad his son dead "you know you had a dozen sons well not that's not quite true"
All: We all would now be dead!
Me: From a goat?!
The wives are just sort of going along with it! 😂
It's probably unimportant, but I would like to know the name of that woman who is so expressive.
Love it
I am Asher and Pharoah in my schools production

I’m doing this play we’re rehearsing at the moment I’m photiphars wife and weeping madens
At my school I was Potiphars wife and I was Benjamin
Were doing this play I’m a guard
So... out of 12 sons, all lived to be adults except for one? I'd call that very lucky, considering what year it was.
Joseph wasn’t really dead !
Your ignorance is appalling.
Also Benjamin exists
Where is the brothers' sister, Dinah?
Hellbound Iscariot they probably melded her character with one of the brother’s wives
I did this I was a brother

I was Potiphars wife xx

2:07 I always assumed that was Rachel, Joseph’s mom
Nah, she dead. Historically she died giving birth to Benjamin.
Because cacti were totally native to the Middle East back then!
it's thematic. They also didn't sing or dance about it.

Judah is pretending to be sad about Joseph and he doesn’t know about Joseph is still alive and he wants him to die and that’s scary

Too late. You lost
Man, when Andrew Lloyd Webber misfires, he really misfires. This song is utter crap. It sounds like something that should be on Hee-Haw.
. It’s meant to sound like that??
