Couple additions. We used to pay cash every year to stay at Boulder Ridge. Bought Copper Creek on one of our trips in 2017.. Still book Boulder Ridge on purpose when it is available at 7 month mark. The Walkway to Wilderness Lodge is covered like VGF which is a great perk to stay dry if bad weather. Shortest route to Roaring Forks is to enter the utility door of Copper Creek on Ground Level. It is diagonal to Boulder Ridge, near and below to right of old Cub's Den. It will put you on ground floor of Copper Creek, go right down hallway, left at Elevators and it will put you by the Waterfall area and right outside of Roaring Forks. For those that care, Boulder RIdge has an amazing gym that is almost deserted, very clean, stocked with towels, headphones, water etc.. We also prefer the floor plan of Boulder Ridge over Copper Creek. Don't like the galley kitchen of Copper Creek, although laundry area is superior at Copper Creek. The quiet and remote vibe of Boulder Ridge is priceless on busy park days and the many resort only days we do!

I Loved the Wilderness Lodge because of the quiet calm from the parks. I haven't been back since they add TWO more resorts to one resort.

LOL.. I Have to laugh at this. Wilderness lodge has a shared bus? NEver knew this. Our joke used to be with the All Stars having to share buses. But for a Deluxe to have to share a bus?

We have been DVC owners since 2002 at Boulder Ridge. We were there over Christmas and definitely in need of a refurb. We have always enjoyed the boat ride and agree that the bus service can be frustrating. As far as food we have never minded walking to Roaring Forks and there is a covered walkway between the main building and the Villas. Never minded the walk. The lobby is so cozy and inviting. I actually took 2 pictures of our ds when he was young that I used for Christmas cards that I took in the lobby. We love it there!!

I think the refurb was moved up to 2020(per the 2019 condo assoc. meeting). Stayed in Dec. 2019, and I am pretty tolerant, but the room was just so run down.
How can you say you can not walk to a food establishment and not list Beach club? Or, really SSR or OKW for that matter. Or the Polynesian. In every case, you have to go outside. But you can walk. SSR and OKW could actually be a VERY long walk

Corey throwing a comment out there without fully thinking it through. Not on Petes watch. Burnt.

Good discussion. I bought Boulder Ridge in 2001. I think you all addressed appropriately. The one fact wrong was the rehab is happening this year not starting next year.

Disney refurbing a set of rooms prior to them becoming outdated and rundown? Unlikely. Every cent gets squeezed out of those fixtures and fittings.

Wish you would have put up pictures for lobby, etc. that you were talking about.

THE con is definitely the style and decor of the rooms. Sure it does reflect a wilderness lodge feel, but they have a design that is outdated. The current rooms would fit more to the fort wilderness look; right now, copper creek tops everyone.

They're refurbing soon though so they should get that sorted!

I'll never understand the "it's too far away from the lobby" argument. All but 6 of the CCV cabins are further away from the WL dining locations than all of the BRV building, with some more than twice as far away, but nobody seems to find distance to be a negative when discussing the cabins/.

I think that Copper Creek has the best rooms on property for design and location ,hands down !

I did a DVC tour at BR. I do like it but it's still a hard choice between CC and BR for me! hmm...

Buying Boulder Ridge resale 2020 is a great deal. I know it’s a short contract but after the full renovation dont you think the resale price will increase?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether the DVC rooms at Yacht Club are pet friendly or if the pet friendly rooms are only the resort sjde.

What will happen to all the DVC resorts that expire in 2042?

    • @lam4517

      I have same question.

    • @triedandchew

In 2042 you would no longer be an owner at that resort, unless DVC decides to offer a contract extension and you accepted it. No one knows until it happens, but my guess is DVC will offer extensions 10-15 years before the end of the contract.
