What wasn't said is that SS is a very relaxing and quiet resort, especially at the awesome secondary pool areas with food and bars. If you like to relax SS is the best out there.

We have always loved Saratoga. It really feels like home to us. We always request Grandstand section. We love a fairway view. When the kids were little, they loved the starting gate sprayer with the horsehead water cannons. We often eat in the small food court and although the selection isn't extensive, we find things to eat that we enjoy. We also find the larger grounds great because we love to take walks through the various sections.

I like Old key west, stayed there many times, but our two stays at Saratoga were just as good or better. Food at Saratoga is mitigated by walkability to Disney Springs, and this makes it a bit better than Old Key west as you must bus/boat EVERYWHERE from OKW.

So funny, SSR is the reason we bought into DVC. A friend rented us points at SSR back in 2007 and it was a huge step up from our Pop Century stays. Dont get me wrong, we loved Pop Century but the amenities sold us and when we got home we bought resale at OKW withought staying there and BLT before it opened after that. I do not remember the food at all so I’ll agree there. I did just stay there is August in a non refurbished room and it was so run down. I have seen pics of the refurbed rooms and will have not problem staying in one of those in the furture. Another nod to Jackie, I LOVE your positivity!!!

Paddock Grille is pretty good. We liked the Paddock section a lot. Nice pool, quick service grill, quick walk across the pond to the main pool and spa... And on a nice day it is a nice walk over to Disney Springs. It’s a nice short stay. We use it with split stays- splurge on a stay at Beach Club or Poly and save points with a couple days at SSR.

I love Saratoga springs I stayed there in the springs section and rode the boat to Disney springs in the evening and seeing the view and the lights along the water of both the resort and Disney springs was just so breathtaking and it made me fall in love

I completely agree with this assessment. I have stayed at SS and while I enjoyed having more room (we stayed in a 1 bedroom villa) I felt like I was in a rental condo. You also mentioned the house keeping issue at the Poly. We stayed in December 2019 and you are right. We waited forever to get a ready room. When we walked in, it wasn't vacuumed and the whole bathroom was covered in a crusty layer of dust.

Aww. We stayed at ss last August with my kids and they loved the pools. It is close to Disney springs which is great. The staff wasn't mentioned but they were so nice. Something to be mentioned for SS and okw is that for ppl like my parents that don't usually do a lot of park time but enjoy relaxing and Disney springs and everything else, they are perfect

Love the treehouses and the boat taxi to Disney Springs was great. The small pool by the tree houses was quiet and enjoyed the outdoor grill. The bus transportation was awful. We learned to walk the extra distance to get to the first bus stop because by the time you get to the main stop the buses were often full.

Stayed at Saratoga this past July 2019, stayed at Grand Villa with our daughters and grandchildren. We had a great time, but it definitely needs a major overhaul. You are right about the food court, it stinks. The proximity to Disney Springs is fantastic. By the way, this our primary Disney property with 400 points and 75 points at Copper Creek that we just bought. We are going down in May and staying at Copper Creek. We are DVC members for 15 years.

I love staying at SSR. It is peaceful, relaxing, and the grounds are beautiful. We like to walk around or get a bike and go for a ride. I've never ate at the resort! We sometimes cook in our room, usually breakfast, but mostly eat in the parks or head out to Disney Springs so that has never been a factor for us. We tend to use the pools by our section instead of going to the main pool. I really enjoy our stays there. One of these trips I want to splurge and stay in the treehouses!

  • @LetsBeBesties

Failed to mention how relaxing and quiet of a resort this is. I think it’s a great resort if your family prefers a slow pace vacation. Walking around the grounds is peaceful, the pool and its bar are peaceful, and the lobby is peaceful. Honestly, being that close to Disney springs is huge. It adds so much. That wasn’t hyped up enough in this review because not everyone wants to eat expensive Disney food all of the time. I’ll take chicken guy or something else. & I can WALK THERE. lol

We stayed at Saratoga Springs for the first time in December. We weren't fans. While we were in the area closest to Disney Springs (Congress Park) at the end of our trip, it was still too far to walk to Disney Springs & the boats weren't working while we stayed there. Bus Transportation took a really long time. We did have a rehabed room which was nice, but there were parts that seemed incomplete like the molding had really poorly finished caulking.

We love saratoga springs. After having disney shoved down your throat all day at the parks, its nice to come back to a quiet resort and relax. I agree that the food at SSR is not great...BUT you have disney springs a stone throw away, with some of the best eats in all of WDW. Now that there renovating the rooms...SSR is gonna become alot more popular i think.

This resort has moved up my list because of location. Disney Springs is kind of an extension to the Resort. Walking back to your room after spending fun times at the Springs rocks. I am just guessing location may come up. I just started the video. Cons, dated alittle, lack of restaurants, and size. It can take awhile to get to a pool or main lobby. I love these shows, thanks team!!! My Brokerage (eXp Realty) is having our stock holders meeting this Spring in Coronado so I will be sharing your thoughts with our peeps on that resort Video (hint), lol. See you in the parks!

When we go to Disney, we usually stay at Saratoga a lot and the older rooms just seem outdated and dark. The bathrooms in the older rooms seem old and feel unclean sometimes (even when we just got there). I'm looking forward to staying in one of the remodeled rooms the next time I stay there.

We love Saratoga. We own points at Copper Creek and Polynesian and have stayed at most resorts (DVC, deluxe, and moderate) on property. Saratoga is great. The one ding we have against it is *IF* you have small kids and you're going to the parks, it can be a long bus ride at night getting home. If you don't have small kids it's fine. If you've got a child or two in a stroller, stay at Bay Lake Towers, GF, or Poly. If you've got teenagers, Saratoga is great.

We have two contracts at Saratoga. I love this resort. Pete is right, the spa is fabulous. The resort is quiet and peaceful. If I need to take a disco nap, it's never a problem. The fact that I can usually park near to my room and the elevators in every building make my old joints say "Oh Boy!"
Food is not the best, but the kitchen is great and I can make my own breakfast and eat at Disney Springs or in the park for other meals. I think all posh-ish older couples should stay here.

If you are a golfer don't write off Saratoga Springs. I had a blast golfing there, great course and awesome service! The clubs I rented were top of the line and they didn't even charge my wife to just drive the cart. The golf course weaves through SSR, OKW, and even POFQ. The mickey sand trap was so cool! The pro shop has some amazing golf merchandise you cant really get anywhere else. Thanks skier Pete for bringing that up.

We bought into SS in '07, have only stayed there once! The price was right and maint. fees reasonable. We've stayed at almost all the other WDW resorts since then. I agree the food court needs to be improved, maybe even put several food courts around that huge property. The bus problems are real bad...you may as well drive to the parks if you want to get there in a timely manner.

I agree Sean. But not only would I rather stay at a moderate, I would rather stay at a value lol. I love the in-your-face theming like the giant Ursula statue at AoA. If I didn't love Disney theming I wouldn't be spending all my money going to WDW...but to each his own. As a local I do not stay in the resorts overnight as often as some people, but I resort-hop a lot and rarely end up at Saratoga. Had bad service at the Turf Club :(

It has rooms available because it is by far the largest DVC resort on property with 1320 rooms, OKW next at 761 and AKV/L with 709 rooms. SSR, OKW and AKV/L have the most room available 7 months or less. Most of the other DVC resorts have 200-400 rooms. Wonder why they don’t have availability. SSR has 2 features pools and 2 quiet pools. 2 separate paths to Disney Springs. Go to PVB and get in the main pool if you can. It is packed. The rooms are the quietest on property, with open hallways very little noise comes in the rooms. VGF you hear everyone walking dow the hall. At OKW almost every building you hear the busses and golf carts go by all day, not relaxing. Standard rooms at SSR are cheaper or slightly higher than OKW, usually within a point or two for a weeks stay, besides the grand villas. No resort can compare with the cheap point GV at OKW.

I don't feel like this is a very balanced review, it sounds like this is THE worst Resort on property. It's like you're giving a review for All Star Sports. 😕 I love this resort, the grounds are beautiful, especially if you take some time to walk around or to rent a Surrey Bike. They have THE best spa on property and we always stay in the Grandstand area - that pool is fantastic. My only "negative" is that they do need to refurb the rooms, it's time.

For active people like us, Saratoga is amazing, we love a run and walk, best gym on property, great refurbished rooms (perhaps second nicest on property after Riviera), best restaurants on the doorstep, relaxed atmosphere and great pools. Downside is the main building and reception needs redoing, Turf Club needs doing and making into a destination restaurant, and a really nice bar like Geyser Point needs building. Then it’s almost perfect, particularly if they build the Skyliner to it. You can get Saratoga as it is almost twice the size of the next largest resort.
I feel this review does not take into effect the new rooms enough as most reviewers apart from Pete don’t seem to know much about the new rooms or even mention them. Sean is anti Saratoga and given most to say here.

As a solo traveler, I really like SS, particularly its closeness to DS. I always use points on a preferred room in Congress Park. It's quiet, remote, but not too far from the Carriage House. The ambience is lovely. There's a nice little path through the woods near DS. The main walkway to DS always has some wildlife to see.
It's home, so I am more forgiving of the food. Artists' Palette always has nice gluten-free options for me, But, my needs are not high level: give me a g-f Mickey waffle or a savory flatbread and I'll be your best friend!
I ate once at the Turf Club, which was okay. I haven't eaten there since solely due to my only doing one sit-down dinner per week at WDW, and wanting to try as many as I can.
However, my first DVC stay ever, and I was a true Disney innocent, saw me at The Carousel (aka Siberia); pretty awful: no pool, no walkway to the Carriage House.
The re-done white-on-white rooms are not at all "Disney" to me.
    Those are my "cons."

  • @HonestOtter
    @HonestOtter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

The point that Pete makes @14:25 regarding room availability after the 7 month window has opened may be a plus for the resort but it seems like it would be a con of DVC ownership at SSR. If you can book any room at the 7 month window I would buy at another resort like Old Key West (as Sean mentioned) so my 11 month booking isn't wasted.

This is our home and love it. The peace and quiet is appealing to us. It is great to come back after a long day at the park and relax. Artists palette is good for sandwiches and flatheads.. And the turf club last time we were there was great especially for the price. Limited menu but what we had was really good. The con of the treehouse is that you have to take s bus to the main part of Saratoga springs to catch another bus to any where. In the past when caught a bus in the treehouse villas.. You could go directly to a park. You never had to go to the main party of the hotel. Why they don't go direct to a park is beyond me

DisUnplugged, TreeHouse's: In the mid70's Disney was looking to reopen plan's for a Disney Ski- Resort. So the Treehouse's were built to show Californian Councils and environment groups that Disney could do it without doing damage to the environment. That is why they are ski chalet size. And before Disney institute they had townhomes in that space. And the townhouse were much roomier.. They were real two story townhomes with a real living room dining room and kitchen. Stayed at then when we were younger. Don't know if they ever just tore down the old fairway villas

I don't understand the "lacking" of Disney theming complaint. They have Mickeys decorations, cutouts all over the place. They have all the famous horses from all of Disney movies everywhere (Pillows, Pictures on the wall) to fall in line with the Saratoga horse racing theme. They have Goofy is his Jockey outfit in a bunch of places. What am I missing with the "Lack of" theme complaint. I was just at OKW and they have just as much theming. Is it because ppl just don't care for Horse Racing? I agree with Pete the food is terrible and the buses system in bad, but I cant wait to try out the new rooms.

SSR is my home resort. I personally love it. Does the food leave a lot to be imagined? ?Yes. However, we did not choose this resort because the food options were the best. The location is prime, IMO, and it is relatively quiet. The rooms are still on the larger side, not as large as OKW which is just fine. They also have the best Fitness facility. This is something that is extremely important to me. If being closer to the main building, ask for Paddock or Grand Stand. I do have to agree with everyone on the Treehouses. They are not my cup of tea, but being from WA that's the kind of stuff I want to get away from.

They never mentioned the boats to get to Disney Springs. Five minute walk and a five minute boat ride. We stayed there just before the shut down and had no issues. Plenty of pools, jogging trail is nice and the quick service is good, not great, but not bad either. Never ate in the Restaurant, like they stated, no point when you are five minutes away from Disney Springs.

That's one of my biggest pet peeves of watching these Disney shows. Locals have a very different perspective on what an actual tourist would be looking for in a resort.
If you live in Orlando why would you use the fitness centers? You would probably have a favorite community center or a membership at a well equipped gym.
I do like that Fiasco is a spa junkie because that is as important to me as the gym, the pool, the outdoor activities, and the walking/running trails.

First, I don''t claim to know the minds of teenagers. We went on a boat ride from Disney Springs and saw Saratoga Springs on our boat ride to the French quarter. My daughter really likes Saratoga Springs, she feels she's outgrown the characters of the value resorts. (I still love All Star Movies). Fiasco thinks letting a young teen go to Disney Springs is a good idea and thats why to stay there?!?! When letting Kids explore Monorail resorts or Boardwalk/Beach Club OK, but SSR is not ideal for kids if you are going to let them explore on their own in my opinion (as someone who has had teens). Boardwalk and let them go to pool, or Ice Cream shop or play games on Boardwalk etc.. even possibly going to EPCOT or Studios

Not sure about this episode. Much of the discussion was regarding food -and rightfully so, Artist’s Palette could be MUCH better. But when they refer to the Turf Club as horrible(or whatever negative was used) that’s strange because their review from 6-months prior wasn’t *that* bad ....Pete had a salty steak(he loves salt but not that much), Sean ordered scallops even though he never got a good scallop on property and it still wasn’t to his liking, poor Steve ordered Duck con-feet(lol) which tasted good but he didn’t like the texture, Jackie loved her salmon, Fiasco loved his beef with “Aw-Jus”. The dessert sucked. The general take away was that it was good, not great ...which I could believe. Maybe they’ve gone back since and had a worse experience but nothing was said. I’ve stayed at every DVC resort and while SSR clearly isn’t the “best”, it holds its own for what it is. The service has been great on my visits, we’ve always found the quiet pools really relaxing, and having Disney Springs close by is a plus.

There is only one thing that keeps me from becoming a Patreon supporter of this show, and it continues to be Pete's ability to constantly interrupt everyone on the show. It's every. Single. Episode. Where Pete cuts someone off and/or interrupts someone elses opinion. It's so frustrating and everytime I watch, it reminds me why I do not financially support the show. Love Pete's insight, but wish he were nicer and more respectful to the others on the show. There is no show without the others. Their opinions and insight is valued just as much as Pete's.

I don't understand how a person can give a review and has never stayed there or has eaten there.

But Saratoga you can always get a room. Unlike many other resorts now

I own at old key west which has been great minus the crazy bus route and time but it’s beautiful and boat ride to the springs you can’t beat

I have stayed at Saratoga twice and it is my least favorite DVC resort. The distance of everything except Disney Springs is brutal. The units are mediocre at best. The food is only so so. The buses are long and brutal to get anywhere. Sure it might be relaxing but I favor Old Key West much more than Saratoga. I doubt I will ever go back there again in the future.

I would say quite the opposite. It's probably the easiest resort to get to (by car) and you have everything so close by. Shops, groceries, restaurants, gas stations, drug stores, fast food, etc.
Coming out of a late night after-hours event at MK I love hitting the Wendy's down the street from SS because it's filled with cast members getting a late night bite.
I wouldn't say SS is the best DVC resort but it is super convenient if you are driving.

There’s too many bus stops, too big, restaurant is terrible there, the quick service is okay, the pool is okay just not a fan stated their once in a one bedroom villa preferred wasn’t impressed the room was nice, we are owners at cooper creek. Internal bus takes forever!

I really think it’s very unfair that you are so harshly judging a resort you have never stayed at. It’s also very discrediting. I don’t trust your opinion when you have never stayed there.
