Nice tips man. Im liking how it’s mostly subtle stuff, and implementing them gets you to listen for that layering and sort of increase your sensitivity to your sounds.
Cheers man, someone else commented about making a Patreon on another video. Was going to wait and see if I could grow this channel a bit first but if there's enough interest I'll definitely have to get on it
Cheers man! I've actually a video on some bass sounds coming out tomorrow. Sadly the Make My Day sound doesn't feature as that uses Trash2 which has been discontinued and unlike CamelCrusher it doesn't appear that there is a stable download of it :(
Whilst similar, you do get a different outcome though - with an effect chain, you're changing the sound on a singular track/group. Whereas with a send, you're adding that effect as a layer which can be dialed in with the volume of the send. Also makes it easier if sending different groups to the same effect (e.g. snare and bass to an erosion send track)
You can change the volume of the duplicate chain in the chain matrix, I get what you're saying with the multiple group thing, but you can add the chain to the buss channel, this way, when you do something like add a filter to the drums for example, the chain effect is processed pre filter (I know you can change sends to post and pre fader). Also, I find balancing levels much easier this was as they're directly next to each other as opposed to potentially the entire width of your screen. Definitely not dismissing your way, as its a classic technique used for decades, but, abletons effect chains have streamlined the process imo.

Very useful tutorial, this is the kind of stuff no one talks about, it’s always about bass but there’s so much more to making a track
So good mate. You should think about doing a Patreon. I'd sign up in a instant.

Would be interested in some more sound design vids, like maybe one showing how you made the synth in your tune ‘make my day’

👀 🍿 *Thanks ♾* for the tips (new sub)
A neater way to do this would be using effect chains, as opposed to send tracks.

Send is ten times better and also saves CPU
On a send you can sidechain the delay using the original signal hence no clutter or mud
'Promo SM'
Free pack?
I do want to give away a sample/preset pack at some point! Would like to make a video accompanying it too making a song with it, maybe one day
