Love this song Solid Gold Just saw it at Mutijulu at the foot of the Rock last night. Awesome! amazing.. sad though that the song is still relevant 30 years on!!
such a strong advocate for indigenous australia, seen them at womad last year, highlight of a lifetime, provoking further inquiry into the centre, and why the intervention is still going!
Heard of Terra Nullius Choxy? Perhaps it wasn't Cook that declared it about Australia, but it is a statement of total denial of one of the world's oldest living cultures. A culture that has thrived for more than 40,000 years in one of the toughest environments around. What were the English doing 40,000 years ago? Why did you even bother watching this video - so you could post a negative comment?
Err, sorry, I know its an inconvenient little fact for a growing myth, but Captain Cook didn't lie about anything! He openly stated there were people living here. He admired them for their living standards and nonchalance towards his presence. It was Banks who recommended Botany Bay for colonisation, years after Cook was dead. He didn't lie either, he just got it badly wrong. Cook was a naval officer following orders, he committed no massacre, he came and went peacefully. It was the generations who came after who killed and dispossessed. Capt. Philip had Aboriginal blood on his hands, but not Cook. So why besmirch Cook! I know its trendy to do so, although highly ignorant. Maybe learn about him first, I can guarantee you will be surprised. I guess this is asking a bit much of show business types.

I saw Goanna last year at the abc live broadcast here in Geelong. Shane has still got it.
Should be our national anthem
Totally agree - an anthem which pays respects to the true descendants and owners of the land.
No doubt about it!
