The year is 2033. The news has played the 473rd consecutive "Geriatric 27: Oh Thank Heaven" trailer instead of the ongoing nuclear war over advertising rights. You try to go to sleep, but the incessant knocking of the door to door movie promoters keeps you awake until 2:00 am, when the repurposed air raid sirens blast out the same teaser soundbites that you've heard thousands of times by now, just like they do every hour. You shove your head into your pillow and finally manage to rest. The instant your eyes close, you receive crystal clear dreams of a 90-year-old man pretending to be stabbed in a fire. You decide to preorder 19 tickets for release day and dozens more for the following week. There is no escape.
The concept of super intrusive ads that can only be stopped by buying the product sounds so realistic the comment kinda stops being funny. We're lucky the tech is not there yet.
1984 levels of advertising right there.
@@lurgee1706 if the ads now dont stop when youve very obviously purchased something, whats to say that super intrusisve ads wouldnt stop in the future?
Bro your comment gave such a laughing fit I'm actually in tears
This had me rolling, I think the door to door movie promoters was my favorite part
Josh actually recreated the formula for any current movie franchise: Ignore the reviews and focus on marketing and ticket sales. Gotta add shareholder value!
That's what I was thinking when he said "oh I see how this game works" lol. Like no Josh, you see how the movie industry works currently lmao. IRL representation lol
24:10 "Okay I think I now understand how this game works" No I think you now understand how the actual film industry works
Yep. It's all maximum hype with the minimum amount of effort possible. Who cares what the movie is about, what the name is or anything else really.
Is there such a thing as TOO much shaky cam?
no ofc not
idk
Nope.
Nah
not for you
As someone who used to work at an office with exactly 4 toilets for 120 people, I can appreciate a hallway of toilets more than most.

if josh was capable of starting an organ trafficking ring in a hospital sim, he definitely would start one

"2 Geriatric 2 Kissin." Nice. They don't have friends, they have family. This is the movie that an 85 year old Vin Diesel will make when he appears on the Hallmark channel.

You wouldn't have to wait for the next one you'd have to find it
I read this in Josh's voice. XD Top tier comment right here
lmao
I just love how Geriatrics Huggin and Kissin's only buildup is the climax stunt, which is quite literally somebody jumpin and fallin over and over again. It has nothing to do with its title, it doesn't have music, it doesn't have any character development at all, and it still got some points. My life is now complete.
"A mockery of the movie industry"
Josh in tears: it's just what I was going for!
No better review than this!
Imagine being the writer: everyone around you gets cloned, and your boss just gives you piles upon piles of blank scripts for 12+ movies with the exact same name. Actually Illiterate is the most important person in this whole operation: $984 salary, 24 years of backbreaking constant scriptwriting for hundreds of cheap cashgrabs.
“Hey, this is Disney, we’ve got another Star Wars and we think you’d be great for it”
If the writer is also the producer and main actor, than it's just Steven Seagal...
Ms. Illiterate doesn't even know what a writers strike is. She just buckled down and showed Hollywood whose boss
She should’ve been called Grace for all her troubles, lol
She started at 20, so actually it was 74 years of scriptwriting. Yay!
Imagine just driving and a giant empty lot with a sign saying "UNWATCHABLE GARBAGE" appears out of the corner of your eye.
yeah it's called Disney lol thanks it's nowhere near the 4.2k+ upvote the op got, but this is the most likes I've gotten.
Best studio name ever!

Today I learned that Josh has a massive amount of RAM for his computer, which is probably an evolutionary adaptation.
he is dedicated to torturing the game as hard as he can. It can't take the easy way out anymore.
Nice
It’s amazing (and also slightly concerning) that Josh’s thumbnails and titles are never clickbait
He never needs to make stuff up because everything he does and creates in these games are already so crazy
I am all here for it
Dude for real, I always know I'm in for a wild ride
Honestly, I'd probably be down to watch a movie from a studio with the self awareness to name themselves "UNWATCHABLE GARBAGE"
Checkout the studio the Asylum. They're called that because only crazy and stupid people watch their movies since they are all low budget rip offs of whatever movie is coming out at the time.
No sleep, no food, and a maze to get in and out sounds like great conditions for the kind of consciousness-altering experiences that make great movie scripts!
E
I should try that!
You know the film industry is insane when they looked at Joshs place and said "Yah, that place is great for employees." What kind of evil deranged working conditions could make Joshs place look good?
Disney's Creative Offices
Working for Josh would be the greatest improvement ever for Hollywood
Bot. You stole this comment >:(
Someone call The Asylum. One of their inmates just posted their entire business model and called it a video game.
I’m an assistant director in Vancouver, and this is not just a fun game. This is a documentary on how Hollywood works.
We know lmao that the best part about this
@@TheMASTER4realit honestly hurts lol
The funny part is; even garbage movies can still be profitable over there. I'm a DIT in Switzerland, none of our movies are ever profitable. (Maybe a handful that break even) 😂
@@MarcoGruber The USA has about 331 million people and big studios with massive marketing budgets. That’s why movies and other entertainment make a ton of money there - it’s mainly about having a huge audience and strong promotion.
Switzerland, on the other hand, has only around 8 million people, so it's tougher to make big bucks. If you want to go international, you have to spend a lot on marketing, and it’s even more expensive if people aren’t familiar with the studio, actors, or culture. People usually stick with what they know. American culture is like a franchise that has spread worldwide, and they’ve been investing in propagating it for a long time. This makes it easier for US films to succeed globally.
@@JMCGP4 Yes, of course, it's an apple to oranges comparison. It's still amusing. 😀
You've basically perfectly simulated the process of Disney movies.
Pump out as many as possible with lots of marketing, even if the movies are complete trash
And then buy out other studios
And clone actors of course
@@hatty2450 So all the competition is you.
This was my first thought too
@@alu2901 "We don't have a monopoly, what about all those other studios?" *points to several mirrors
i love how despite the clickbait looking titles, none of his videos are clickbait, and most of the time just surpass our expectations on what is he going to do
"because in the bathroom it's always showtime!" 🤣
Jeez you should have named the studio Walt Disney Films inc.! Cause you make nothing but crap, pay people nothing, have huge marketing campaigns to inflate expectations, and make billions you use to just buy up everyone that competes! 😃
At least Disney had their Golden age...
@@CodecrafterArtemis fair enough... If Walter knew what was happening now he'd be ashamed... Probably.
You literally became Disney.
Producing slop, abusing workers, focusing everything on marketing, and buying up other studios.
I thought the same thing omg 😂
Disney as run by Uve Boll.
Disney would never hire old people!
But it worked, didn’t it?
There should be a documentary about Josh. It could have a plot like: "Josh has just become CEO, his rival employee, Grace now knows what is going to happen. Does she quit and lose her only source of income or does she take the torture and make 3 cents an hour?"
Damn 3 cents an hour, must be one of josh's feeling generous day

he is?
@@thebluehat6814 Even if he isn't, he technically is. I'm pretty sure he does write his own scripts, lol! That make him his own supervisor which is akin to putting the fox in charge of guarding the henhouse!
@@thebluehat6814 there is video of him on TH-cam, being introduced by a director on something he was working on. Someone pointed him to the video of him, and he confirmed that it is him, and that he really doesn't care that it's out there.
Josh made Inception 2 with that building layout XD
This is further supported by the fact that the entire structure feels like a fever dream in the best/worst way possible
24:10 "Okay I think I now understand how this game works" No, I believe you now comprehend how the real film industry operates.
Didn't think this game would go for that amount of realism, but this makes total sense. So many movies are complete garbage but make a ton of money because they're hyped to the sky
and people don't ask for refunds after getting scammed
That was hilarious! Josh should do more of this game, Hollywood is good fodder for comedy right now! 😂
I think you just explained how the industry works - the execs just throw things at the wall and hope something sticks.

Josh's mantra is basically, "If there's a will, there's a maze" and I think that's just beautiful
I just went through his old videos and all his: “Hey there it’s Josh welcome back to let’s game it out” get progressively happier and more energetic every new video
Been watchin Josh for about 4 years now, and every time I see @LetsGameItOut videos come up I know it is going to be one bumpy, but enjoyable, ride! 😂❤
I am very confused. Josh usually plays games in a wacky over the top manner, but for some reason, he played this one as realistically as possible?
Because that's the only way to make profits. 😂

literally crying laughing at this masterpiece
22:53 finally!
21:07 plot for alien geriatrics crying over books: alien dances in front of the camera and aliens fight the hospital and someone was doing cpr and sees flames and earthquake. The end.
The degree to which this game's absolute jank accurately depicts the IRL movie industry is both shocking and depressing
This episode was outstanding, Josh. It just flew by. I think I’m on my 7th watch and still laughing. Well done, dude!
I don't know what kind of PC I expected Josh to have, but having at least 60GB of RAM is something I really should have seen coming.
It is quite impressive how much he sabotages himself in these videos and yet still somehow manages to succeed at the end, prehaps chaos is the key to success.
he just proves how poorly the game is programed because no one expects him to make like 100 movies at once and have tons of marketing to over hype it. I would love to see him play some of the best designed games and see how he can break them as well. Although his Sims videos were fun.

As someone who does a lot of community theatre and student short films I can confidently say this is nicer that 90% of the studios of seen
"Well maintained lots" = 300 toilets forming a maze. 😂
This is the first Lets Game It Out video where I straight up laughed non-stop, starting at the part where he starts directing the scenes all the way to the end
Lol. I love how this is basically the discovery of the shovel-ware strategy.
Still better production value than Netflix originals
Another true classic. I like how you pulled a disney at the end and just bought up the competition.
I just wanted to say, LGIO you cure my everyday boredom. Its never a boring day when you post a new vid
Hey Josh love the vids I have been watching your for years and I’m glad your content is still crazy as it used to be. Keep up the great vids!
He did it. He cracked the modern film industry. This is exactly how it works.
He recreated Disney by spamming shows and buy other studios
27:15 “I created and hired a character named Crying Inside. That’s how you know he works in marketing.”
I feel seen.
Less than 30 mins full course educational video on film making business. Never expected it on this channel.
the bathroom is, and i mean this literally, straight from my remeron-induced lucid nightmares. you did amazing.
That's the inherent flaw with games like this and game dev tycoon. What you do doesn't really impact your score, it's all too arbitrary.
You can make a blockbuster by filming a corner for an hour if you tick the right boxes, or you could spend days finely crafting a scene only for the game to tell you it is garbage.
Isn't that the same with movies now? As long as you tick boxes, people will pay to watch garbage.
Perfect simulation of the real industry.
Kind of like real life 😅
Hopefully there's a DLC for this where you can take a beloved ghost franchise and destroy it with an all-female version, fake reviews, and terrible jokes.

his videos may take a few weeks, but each one is a gem
I love your talent to break literally every game while making it fun to watch you do so
I love that two of the reviews at 23:41 reference the movie being unwatchable, as if that's not exactly what the studio said it was going to be making from day 1
Love this invulnerable staff that you simply can't destroy. No food, no sleep, unsatisfied, not going home, not growing older - yet still standing and kicking. My sims should learn some tricks.
I worked in the film industry as a crew member for 15 years, and I can confirm this is a HIGHLY accurate depiction of my job.

An absurd amount of money in the title.
A floor plan that would make any engineer vomit.
Ridiculously sized rooms.
Long ahh hallways.

Don't forget:
Specific mechanics that Josh figures out how to abuse to reach the highest level
Strange additions or objects that Josh puts most effort into, be it a tall forest of non-trees, excess, or something else.
