Southern Empire is the new progressive rock band from the creative force behind Unitopia, Sean Timms.
Featuring Danny Lopresto - Lead vocals/Guitar, Cam Blokland - Guitar/Vocals, Jez Martin - Bass/Vocals, Brody Green - Drums/Vocals and Sean Timms - Keyboards/Vocals, with special guests Adam Page - Saxophone and Tim Irrgang - Percussion

I don't care what 'type' of music folks wanna pin these guys to. They're some incredibly talented musicians who form Southern Empire. Pretty bad ass name. Simply put, I love their music. Danny Lopresto!!

well, I have to admit I am pretty conservative in my musical preferences, I still live in the 80s, but since I have heard THIS SONG I completely fell in love with it and the band. Can't take this track off my mind, it follows me all the time. This is an obsession, isn't it? honestly I don't mind this, isn't this the purpose of art? hats off, Southern empire, you ROCK! wish I could knew about you while was in SA, spent 3 months 240 km away from Adelaide! keep prog rocking, please, you have got another one fan at the other side of the Earth!
In the top five of modern prog bands. This band has it all.
I am so thankful that their is music like this. Unfortunately, most people who appreciate bands like Southern Empire are usually musicians themselves (like me). The dumb-downed U.S. public are too busy listening to Taylor Swift, Kayne West, Beyonce, and other crap.
While I'm not a musician, I appreciate talent/art and this is both! Living in the US and tolerating all of the mainstream garbage that is pushed on everyone by the media, etc is sad. Imagine this, I live in the Deep South and while not prevalent, I do run into folks on occasion that do actually listen to good music. I introduce as many as I can to progressive and progressive metal. They are always very surprised when they find that the music is new! It does take a few IQ points to appreciate good music these days I've found.
Of course, when I discovered Southern Empires, I was quite pleased. I can't wait until the next release. I will add that "How Long" confused me a bit when I first heard it because I discovered United Progressive Fraternity a few months prior to this and already owned that album. I recognized "Intersection" immediately and really like both versions!

Just discovered this band. A wonderful piece of melodic prog rock. Fantastic musicianship. The instrumental section half way through has echoes of Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Brilliant work. I really liked Unitopia and this is a worthy successor to that fine band. 'How Long' is an absolute classic!!!!

How long? Not long enough! This is an epic song, ELP and Yes elements crept in as I listened....this group deserves to be both seen and heard. I cannot wait to hopefully see them live in the UK.

Perfekt Mix of Prog and Jazz Riffs...
This is a well crafted song from superb musicians.
The song now sounded like a complete work, fresh and well arranged. Gentlemen - you are talented. even jealous ( just kidding). Every two or three days always listen to it. Like crazy.

Oh and then Tears for Fears, Supertramp, and Emerson-like break followed by some Petrucci-like guitar. Oh, and the sop sax outside solo takes it to another level, something no 70s prog band could do. Nice work - great to hear such creativity like this again. Thank you!!!

My little visit to Australia was under some rather funky circumstances which finally ended in Los Angeles in a very unfortunate manner. Tear jerking event that was, we all have shed tears over that........ very disturbing event that was.

Awesome track. I'd argue that one of the influences missed on your band site is Spyro Gyra. Holy, Sean... you and Tom Shuman.... Seriously- 90's Spyro Gyra. Fusion Jazz / Progressive Rock. Sweet combo.

No mate...I definitely didn't mean you. I meant all the internet trolls who were lambasting him because he had nerve damage in his left hand and it wasn't as strong any more. They were saying things like 'he's past it' and 'he should just give up'. That cuts deep...especially if you're a sensitive artist which Keith obviously was.
