      The fact that he's doing it on a BASS is even more fucked up. Those strings are thick and painful to hold and strum

    What a guitar player, Dave Kilminster. Love him.

      Kilminster's solo was powerful. Coming off of the synthesizer solo, I was totally pumped. One of my favorite Steven Wilson live renditions.

    Adam Holzman is a genius, and he knows it, so he turns his back to the audience during the solo so no one could see how he's doing it.

      Anyone that's into Jazz/Rock Fusion should check out The Fents. Adam's the real deal and Ted Hall (RIP) on guitar was ripping it back in the day when GG was perhaps 11 or so.

    The guitar solo on the studio version sends tingles down the spine. Dave's is a great solo but it's Guthrie's all day long for me.

    • @Cheximus
      @Cheximus 7 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Not even close. I appreciate what he's trying to do, and that he's feeling it his own way, but it does nothing for me. How can anything come close to Guthrie's though? It's possibly the GOAT solo.

      +william mcmonagle I think it's incredibly difficult to replace Guthrie (just like the other members) and I love his playing especially the solos too much to fully be able enjoying Dave's new influence. Hope I am gonna be able to adjust/get used to it.

    • @jkman10
      @jkman10 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Thomas Venus Is Dave a permanent member now? Or is he just when Guthrie can't play?

    • @thomasvenus1129
      @thomasvenus1129 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jkman10 Early last year, it was written the following about the tour in the Americas on the SW homepage:
      "This will also be the first show with a changed band line up, as Guthrie Govan and Marco Minnemann will be departing at the end of the European tour to fulfill touring commitments with their own band The Aristocrates".
      So I guess (and hope) that the replacement is/was only temporary for the tour in the Americas.

    • @Ligtez
      @Ligtez 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Thomas Venus Nope, this is now the permanent line up. They still in tour - european tour - and they recorded the songs for the last album 4 1/2. I saw them playing in Lisbon and Kilminster was fantastic. He has a incredibly guitar tone...

    Nunca pensé que el destino me llevaría a escuchar este nivel de música, un día escuche unos acordes del muro de Pink Floyd y así como de broma seguí escuchando ese tema que fue evolucionando a cada instante hasta el momento de llegar al punto máximo del placer de escuchar música, ese tema se llama Voyuage 34 y desde ahí que empece a descubrir un gran grupo llamado Porcupine Tree, grupo que lleno el vacío que existía en mi cerebro ya que pensé que después de Pink Floyd que? entonces el destino me preparo esta gran sorpresa que espero que aun siga evolucionando hasta romper todos los esquemas y sentidos de la música! hasta que se fundan con nuestro espíritu y logremos volar y ser parte de todo y de todos!
    Gracias Steven por regalarnos esta maravilla

    I think that Govan's studio rendition on final solo is a legendary gem of powerful feelings and amazing technique skills and I deeply love it but, folks, let's admit that Kilminster take here is as devastating... It's my opinion that it's not in the interest of Music to stick in a stubborn position, these musicians are some of the best cats ever and we owe them the deepest respect. When Dave starts soloing, just close your eyes and let him carry you on his wings... you won't regret (#9) it.
