Just adding the bow creates a whole new atmosphere for this work. I love the way you work.

Wow, thank you for showing how to think about approaching a complex subject! It is so helpful to learn how to think about it and where to start.

Your descriptions show a wonderful command of language and analysis of the techniques of painting. The clearest I have found on the web. Congratulations and thanks!

This is just amazing, the first part is great but the second is mind blowing! the way you interpret that image and make it so much more expressive and interesting, even in a monotone version, I would have never foreseen this end result on that foto, it really shows an artist view, just beautiful, thank you so much for such great lesson

When you paint your darks, do you usually use paint straight from the tube or do you mix? Thanks.

    • @GaryTuckerArtist

I usually mix with a small amount of water - just enough to get it moving

Enjoyed watching you put the shacks in without drawing them with ruler and pencil drawing ~

Your paper seems to stay wet for some time. Do you stretch your paper first as I’ve noticed some artists don’t bother?
Also after wetting the paper (if you do) do you wait for the sheen to go before applying the paint? I find this the most the most confusing part of water colours as of course the outcome can be quite different. You seem to layer paint upon paint so the surface must be quite moist whereas some demos advise you to wait until the paper is dry before applying another layer.

Hi Gary, do you use paper in your tonal studies B/W, the same size as the coloured finished work ? Or what size is this tonal study ? Cheers Grant
