According to the Signal vs. Power relationship, increasing to 150W is negligible for the receiving station and extremely stressful for the final power stage of the transmitter.

If you want more power, measure DOSY watts

Ok guys...c'mon now! We all know maybe its not worth it, or maybe we should all just just put up a $3000 tower and multiband beam, or buy a legal limit $2,500 amplifier ..blah blah blah. If you listen real close in his video...he literally kind of mimics many of your thoughts too in regards to knowing maybe it will have no real benefit to most. However..this is an educational video and some may love this. maybe that 1/2 an s unit means something to them..maybe they have a special homebrew amp that likes to be driven a little harder..who knows! The point is this is radio and its neat to see someone actually put out a well made video with charts and stuff. Now....i can say personally ive done the alc mod. Why you ask? Because when i buy a radio that is supposed to put out 100 watts....i want 100 watts....not 60-70 watts from the factory like almost all icom 7300's put out. Those are facts. I've done this mod to 8 different icoms over the last 5 years and every single one put out........wait for it....60-70 watts from factory. So...instead of telling Z28 what a tool he is for putting out this video and that it's worthless...let's all email Icom instead and have them send out radios with correct wattage. (oh...and before the real hatred spews forth....all my wattage measurements were done with: telewave, daiwa, bird, ifr meters...so spare me the "you need to use a real meter" crap.)
All that being said..thx again Z28 for the video and lets all have fun in this hobby!!!!

Totally! I don't think most of the people watched the video to the end is the problem.

Risk your finals for negligible benefit!
    No way.

It's a complete waste of time. A antenna change could be way more beneficial.
