Great explanation Tom. One question though: it looked like maybe you stacked the CDC feathers to oppose or face in to each other. Or do you stack them with the curve the same way?
Thanks, and I stack them so that both the feathers curve down towards the hook. But when you are using just the tip on small feathers it doesn’t make much of a difference. Cheers, Tom
Would I be able to use a bit of marabou for the wings instead of cdc? I have a hard time finding it in stock near me and don’t wanna have to buy online
Thats called a WD 40. Usually tied for baetis, PMD's, pseudo's, etc. in size's 16 - 22. Great early and late season fly. If you tie in a little pheasant tail, tail with few fibers of antron as a trailing schuck from the bend to about 1/3 toward the eye, then you have the emerger version. and thats twice as deadly as the adult.
Thanks again Tom. Now to find some water that won't wash me away!
Great presentation!
great stuff Tom .
Great fly and a great video. Useful comments on proportions and usage. Thanks.
G'day Tom
Could you do a clip on tying your Split Wing Mayfly?
Simple yet effective.
Looks like a great fly. Could it be used for dry dropper? Maybe only a 2.3mm bead, or stack more CDC for more float?

What kind of hares do you have down under? I have many hares’ ears, the dubbing is very short and very dark.
Hey mate was wondering if you can do a video on how you do you your dry fly and nymph combo or if you have one already a link to it cheers
Hey Scott if you have a look at last summers edition of FlyLife Magazine and my article on creek techniques I actually explained it all there 😊

The colour natural cdc, I got this pack from the Czech Republic
Simple and deadly, what's not to like about that.
