Hi Dunnay48, yes I saw that. What it is called is not important (but is good to know and we should use the correct name). What is important is its capabilities. Maybe I will discover more when I'm at the Zhuhai Airshow next week.
Couple of errors. The radar will likely be a GAN, while the WS-10B sits somewhere around the 145kN range (most China watchers put it somewhere between 142kN & 147kN although the 150kN number has been given however there’s not as much evidence to support that number).
@@Strategy_Analysis About to take the Mrs for dinner so you’ll have to wait, but read up the works of Andreas Rupprecht in regards to the engine, he considers it mid 140’s and he’s pretty much the ducks nuts on anything J-11/15/16 related.
Great video! It would be interesting to explore how developments in one nation influenced developments in other. For example, I suppose improvements in Chinese long range missiles (AA and anti-ship) forced USA to switch their first carrier drones from ISR/Strike to tanker missions. MQ-25 Stingrays should extend the combat ranges of Navy aircraft quite a bit. And perhaps this pushed China to increase launch payload for J-15s, increasing their range in turn.
There is an EW version of the J-15A, as I mention in the brief. Whether there will be an EW version of the J-15B remains to be seen. As I say in the briefing, I would expect there to be.
1:24 this is no the J-15B, since its radome isn’t oval and its front wheel cover isn’t two piece. This one looks like a normal J-15 modified to test catapult take off.
Flankers with external fuel tanks are almost as rare as a unicorn. We are more likely to see a felon with external fuel tanks than Flankers with fuel external tanks
The limited range of the F/A-18E/F is a big problem. And now, China has a credible threat to US carriers a thousand miles away from their shore, even if you consider the anti-ship ballistic missiles to be propaganda. The US Congress and Navy had better prioritize the naval Next Generation Air Dominance fighter and should reconsider a long range strike UCAV.
@lolwutyoumad Wouldn't be a problem if China wasn't a war mongering autocracy threatening a peaceful and sovereign Taiwan. Not to mention the insanely dangerous actions China has done at sea to Philippine ships in the south China sea, all while violating Philippine sovereign territory.
@@fatdoi003 incorrect. Just because the pl17 has a longer range doesn’t mean it’s going to threaten fighter sized maneuverable targets. F35 is more advanced than j35 with block 4 upgrade. And aim260 will be better than pl15. I will admit China has a very formidable combination though that is coming very close.
@@ryankubinski8789 i'm not sure how you can conclude F35 is more advance than J35 and aim260 better than pl15... my comparison is PLAN will have a balance of a air superiority fighter of J35 and a multirole J15B and EW J15D vs USAF 2x multirole of F35 + F18E/F and EW F18G
@@fatdoi003 I conclude aim260 is more advanced than pl15 because the American military is developing it to be better than the pl15, so I do not have proof but officials have said it will give them the advantage back. The f35 is probably better than the j35 because America still has the edge in some key technologies but that one I am convinced of less and the two are likely very comparable. However, the f35 has been produced in much greater numbers so far
It may have a LPI radar, but it will still stick out like dogs balls on the radars of the E-7(I don’t recall the radar designation) or Hobart Class with the SPY-1D. Or F-35 IRST if in EMCON S.
Think the JH-7A pic carrying the YJ-12 is photoshopped. As far as I know only the H-6 carry them (up to 6). I haven't seen J-16 carrying YJ-12 even some literature mention it can. All J-16 in maritime strike fit out have been seen to carry YJ-83.
Title updated to reflect official designation as J-15T. Looking forward to seeing it at Zhuhai.
New engines AESA Radar new airframe built from lighter composites. CATBAR. And maybe TVC.
Apparently this version has been officially named j-15T just like the CATOBAR prototype for some reason

References for these?

Yes, rare indeed but likely a necessity for them operating off a carrier.
Good analysis....A refreshing change from Western norm that rubbishes Chinese and Russian military hardware as inferior to those of the West...
