    The Chinese Army is also equipped with tactical ballistic missiles, not just the Rocket Force. In the phl191 MLRS, the tactical missile has a caliber of 750mm, similar to the PRSM. The Export Version name is Fire Dragon 480, with a range of 300KM. However, the self-use version is said to be able to reach more than480- 500KM. Similar to the US military's PRSM.

    Yeah, good segment. Very relevant to our defence situation. Something to be considered is that the short-range stuff is easy to disperse and spread outside China. Say, for example, they secure one of the Phillipine Islands early in the conflict. Then, we can easily face a high threat from the cheaper, more numerous shorter range systems Further. they will have much shorter travel times and, thus, will be more difficult to defend against.

    The numbers of the missiles in services seems misleading .. either it has been made very less to make China isn’t not capable or to cover a something which will not raise some western eyebrows .. there’s no way a missile system with just 48,30,80,36 in numbers even when the missile has been in service since 1990 is a huge false information.

      @@kenfowler1980 that’s basically exactly what I believe! Everyone / every country should consider themselves their own primary defence force , before expecting or seeking help from others. That allows independent thinking & decision making & also acts as leverage in negotiations ect . Australia’s unique global positioning, gives us both strengths & weaknesses. A indigenous weapons & technology industry is essential, considering we are susceptible to blockade & siege warfare. In turn if we have our own defence manufacturing capabilities, food , fuel & water & indigenous resources & infrastructure capabilities. We then have the huge advantage of vast air - sea - land to utilise as strategic barriers. With a low population density & wide vast land mass to distribute strategically placed manufacturing & logistics chains . Australia has the potential to be an extremely hard nut to crack . It seems our weakest link is our leadership & lack of strategically thought out infrastructure. Ballistic missiles of many kinds , imo are a far better option imo for Australia’s defence then US bombers & nuclear powered, conventionally armed submarines. Obviously just my opinion . Cheers mate.

    Grate video, as always, but I can’t help wondering how many missiles they have, this are the systems, but how many missiles are there to every system, is that something we can calculate or make an estimated guess? And it would be interesting to know maybe a little bit more about them, like the type of warhead, guidance, speed, penetration aids and estimated hit probability. Keep up the good work.

    • @Strategy_Analysis
      @Strategy_Analysis 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks, greatly appreciated. The number of missiles will be harder to ascertain than the launchers, which is to be expected. I think a 3 to 1 ratio for missiles to launchers is reasonable, but I have no evidence to support that. Fair comment about warhead type, that would have been informative. As for speed, all the ballistic missiles are "hypersonic" in that they travel at greater than Mach 5, however unlike the HGVs they don't "manoeuvre".

  • @rainlord137
    @rainlord137 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I don't think the number in service here are accurate. I think you may have used the number of "military units" rather than the inventory number. The missiles number would prob be 4-6x the number depending the type of missile. For the DF-10 or CJ-10 the missiles number will be way higher as it's also used by the PLAN and PLAAF, sub-sonic missile can be easily mass produced so the actual number may be comparable to the number of tomahawk the US have.

    • @Strategy_Analysis
      @Strategy_Analysis 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      As I mention in the briefing, the figures are largely from the International Institute for Strategic Studies "Military Balance 2024". These would be current as at the end of 2023. Also, the number given is actual for TELs, so using the DF-10 as an example the 72 TELs carry 216 launchers. Also, I was only examining the PLA Rocket Force, so not including Navy or Air Force launchers. Yes, sub-sonic missiles are cheaper to produce, but also easier to defend against.

    There are some information that are left out especially newer procurements for the TNI, as in the ones signed in IndoDefence 2022 the Trisual Air Defense Missles and the KHAN Ballistic Missile from Turkiye. And the procurements of UAV from Turkiye like the Anka drone and possibly the Akinci, TB2, or the Aksungar drones. Another future procurement that would have been nice to be shown are the 2 PPA Frigates/OPVS from Fincantieri Italy. As obviously this was uploaded on July I would like to add information that the TNI is possibly looking into more vessels procurement in the future like the frigates, destroyers, and LHD from a number of competing nations, like China, South Korea, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, Turkiye, and possibly Germany. Also regarding the submarine procurements the TNI AL would also like to acquire interim submarines as the Scorpene submarines would take up to 6 years to build as it will be build in Surabaya Pt.Pal under the TOT from Naval Group.

    We need three such Brigades not one! One does not provide the necessary ability to relieve or support the Brigade should it face sustained attack. It does not allow redundancy or replacement of trained personnel due to attrition of manpower. This is nothing more than a token force easily brushed aside by a genuine national state.

    The Type 96 will be better in all aspects when compared with the US Ohio Class SSBN. The US currently has 14 operational Ohio Class submarines which are quite old and my guess is that China will has at least 36 Type 96 because they are much cheaper to build. Once it pass the sea trials , production will be very fast with at least 5 submarines a year or even more. US submarines pose a clear and present threat to China and it will do everything it can to counter the US threat. The US latest Columbia Class SSBN will be better than the Chinese Type 96 I think. Expected to be in service only in 2031 with repeated delay and cost over-runs, I see the Chinese over-taking the US in nuclear power submarine within the next 5 years. In terms of diesel electric conventional submarine, the Chinese already has one of the world best with their Type 39C.

    Interesting idea. Mobility indeed, its sort of a cross between dragoons and light cavalry. They dont have any howitzers at all, or any direct fire guns. Its all mortars. They'll be at a range disadvantage against virtually any force. I can see the utility of it as a component of a larger force, as outriders. Theyre nimble enough to show up in irritating places quickly and presumably disengage just as fast. Putting entire squads in vehicles with paper thin (presumably) armour seems reckless, at least the Humvee only carried 4-5. I assume the armour is similar to a BTR's, ie less than a centimtre.
