- Amtrak NEC 1991 AEM7 E60CH F40PH & CSX SD40-2 SD50 & Conrail GP38-2 B23-7 & Caboose!
Amtrak's high speed passenger trains hustled along the electrified Northeast Corridor in Maryland, in 1991. Soon-to-be-retired Heritage Fleet passenger cars also appeared on Amtrak's Capitol Limited and Broadway Limited trains. The "Capitol" traversed the former Baltimore & Ohio between Washington DC and Chicago, Illinois, via Martinsburg, West Virginia. This was also the route of MARC (Maryland Area Rail Commuter) commuter trains, many pulled by reconditioned F9PH streamliner diesels. Former Erie Lackawanna U34CH passenger diesels powered New Jersey Transit commuter trains through the New Jersey suburbs. In Virginia, CSX freight trains crossed the high Copper Creek Viaduct. This series also contains other famous bridges, such as Amtrak's Susquehanna River bridge in Havre de Grace, Maryland, the Rockville stone arch bridge near Marysville, Pennsylvania, and the old Baltimore & Ohio Potomac River bridge in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. See also Norfolk Southern locomotives pulling freight trains long hood forward during this exciting era in mainline Class One railroading on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States.

Love seeing Amtrak F40PH’s, E60’s and AEM-7’s in classic footage!
I'm glad you enjoyed the show 😊
Wish I was alive long enough to see phase 3 in regular service. Incredible footage!
I'm just glad to have the video. But yes, those were the days.
Same here
Man, that all-Heritage Crescent at 3:50 must be so incredibly heavy
Same for the Capitol limited with the dome case which was pretty damn nice sadly didn’t seem that one set had a dome, though of the cap
Nice vídeo
Thank you!
I love old school NEC stuff. Do you have anything from the 80’s when the grade crossing were still around?
Hmm, not so much. I do have a Trains of the 1980s playlist on my channel, which does have some NEC footage, but I think most of the grade crossings were already gone by 1986, which are the earliest videos I have.
@@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos ahh gotcha. Yeah that makes sense because the last ones to be closed were Glenn Dale and Hillmeade Roads in late ‘84.
The Northbound Silver Star and Montrealer in Maryland are mislabeled a few times. The Longer mixed Heritage and Amfleet 2's is the star, the shorter one is the Montrealer. Great video though!!!.
Oops 😬 Haha😅
Do you have any recordings of amtrak f40s and others at carneys crossing?
I'm.sorry, but I do not. Nevertheless, thanks for watching.

I love old can looking NEC stuff. Do you have anything from from 80's grade crossing's.
Sadly no. The last NEC grade crossings disappeared in 1984. I didn't begin filming trains until 1986.
4:57 that’s not 903 it was destroyed in a wreck in chase in 87
Oops 😬
4:49 before the crash...
At Gunpow near Chase, MD, I assume is what you mean?
Just gotta love em big E60MA bricks
Indeed!
The clip of Metroliner 222 at Bush River at around the 5:00 mark is ID'd wrong. It either can't be in 1991, or it's not AEM-7 903. 903 was destroyed along with 900 in the Train #94 wreck at Chase, MD on Jan. 4, 1987.
The date is correct, so it's the loco no. that's in question. Thanks for letting us know.
@@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideosI happened to pause it at the exact right moment at 4:58
Looks like 923? Or maybe 933?
Definitely a 3 on the end of the road number! :) brilliant footage; very pretty at sunset there!
No. 3 can look like a zero at high speed. That is likely the reason for the error.
Amtrak should’ve kept there E60’s for they’re Mow trains
Would have been nice if they had.
Who is the AEM7 with the P5?
You'd know better than me. The audio in this video is authentic.
Those are E60MAs, not E60CHs. They were rebuilt from E60CHs, though.
Thanks for letting us know 😊
Where was the thumbnail picture taken? Glenn dale?
Nicely done! Yes, Glendale at the grade crossing before its closing.
@@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos footage or just picture?
Also i could tell by the house in the back
The photo precedes the videos. By the 90s Glendale was fenced off.
Very observant, indeed!
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the dead low resolution sucks,,,,,,,,,blurred,,,,,,,,,,.....
Welcome to 1991. That and youtube's lousy compression rate.
