This is my neighborhood .my dad worked for Southern Pacific out of the coos bay depot from early 70 's until it was demolished .I got to ride from coos bay to Florence many times .my father would race ahead of the train and open 3 draw bridges .I got to hop on at the depot and get off right before the trestle on the siuslaw river.both in engines and cabooses
So glad to see someone got footage of trains in northern Nevada from the days of SP and when only UP was using the former Western Pacific through northern Nevada

Those were the days, indeed!

Yes, I'm glad I got out there too.
Wow, four SD9's pulling an intermodal, that looks like something you'd only see on a model railroad.
And I never saw it again.
Great video Walt, all SP fans applaud you!
Thank you.
Great video Walt.
Thanks again.
@@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos You are very welcome.
I have rode the star lite train many times
I'm glad you got the chance to enjoy a great ride.
Nice video!
Thank you.

Gotta love the old Santa Fe Hi-levels! Nice clips!
Yes, they were spectacular.
Yes Walt. The NWP track work was not very good and many were assigned to that SP operation.
Thank you for clarifying, Norman.
What are some of your favorite diesel locomotives from GE and EMD?
I'm an EMD guy I guess. I like GP30 and SD40-2.
@Walt Loevy Cool. I’m mostly an EMD guy myself.
My favorites are; SD40-2, SD45, SD45T-2, SD40T-2, GP30, DD35A and B, DDA40X, GP7, GP9, SD7, SD9, GP38 and 40s(including Dash 2), F40PH, etc.
Some SP hog heads referred to the SD-9's as "Cadillacs."
I assume because of how they handled going over rough track?
@@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos That is right Walt, they were extremely heavy that is why they could haul so much weight and ride so smooth like a cad.
I'm glad they were so well liked.
