Informative video. What brand of floorstanders do you have there?

Thanks. Those were the Q Acoustics Concept 40. Unfortunately, I sold them😢

@@YuriBrus Thanks for informing, however I see you since upgrade to Dynaudio Evoke. Also you upgraded Marantz CD player and amp to Denon and Yamaha. If you have spare cash in future, suggested upgrades would be Teac CD player (with VRDS mechanism and custom Dac chips) and Rotel integrated or pre/power amp (with custom toroidal transformers).

Decent rack.. Overpriced for sure, but what isn’t in today’s world lol. Good quality but wouldn’t say it’s top tier. I’m sure their higher end stuff is but the S3 is good for what you get. For a company that specializes in audio racks I was hoping they would leave enough space for bigger receivers. Got screwed because it won’t fit my Sansui because the metal pipes are just way too big. So it has to sit on the top… Sucks bad because turntables with dust covers are useless sitting under a shelf. My fault tho, because I just thought it would work because of the companies background. Overall tho, it looks clean and does the job.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the S3 rack, @kaleb3515. I'm sorry to hear that it didn't quite meet your expectations in terms of accommodating larger receivers like your Sansui. Indeed, it's always disappointing when the fit isn't quite right.
I encountered a similar issue myself and decided to switch to the Solidsteel VL-3 rack. I appreciate your perspective on the S3 rack's overall quality and functionality despite its limitations. Your insights are invaluable for anyone contemplating a similar purchase. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!

Thanks for your excellent video. Very useful. I just ordered a S3-4 rack. I also did a good amount of research and agree that SS is the best quality for the price. Has a high end look for the price as well. Their S2 line, although cheaper, lacks the key features of the S3 line. And the next line up really jumps up in price. I am returning my current rack, one of the most popular racks that many buy. It was less than half the price, quite sturdy but without the features, and it looks cheap. I believe the S3 dimensions are very similar to most of it’s competitors (that is based on the research I did) and can accommodate most amps and receivers but obviously not all. It is very unfortunate when kit doesn’t fit, as packing and shipping these back is a major hassle.

@Lou-ve6sy Thanks for your positive feedback, I'm glad you found the video useful and decided to order the S3-4 rack. It sounds like you did thorough research, and it's great to hear that you agree with me that Solidsteel offers great quality for the price. I hope the S3-4 rack meets all your expectations and provides the features you're looking for. Have a great day, and best regards, Yuri.

Thanks for your question! I chose the Solidsteel equipment after extensive research because I found that it offers an excellent price-performance ratio. Essentially, this means that for the price I paid, I believe I'm getting a high-quality product that performs exceptionally well compared to other options on the market. Solidsteel struck the right balance between affordability and quality, making it a great choice for my needs.

what about the effects on sound? tks!

Hello Jean-Martin and thank you for your question
When it comes to high-fidelity audio equipment like record or CD players, vibrations can have a significant impact on the sound quality. Vibrations can cause the equipment's internal components to move slightly, which can result in distortions, noise, or even damage to the device.
A stable platform for your hi-fi gear can help to minimize these vibrations. By providing a solid and secure surface for the equipment to sit on, you can reduce the amount of movement that occurs within the device. This, in turn, can help to improve the clarity and accuracy of the sound produced by your system.
This rack is designed to provide a stable and isolated platform for your equipment, it comes with features like vibration-damping materials and adjustable feet, to further improve performance.
Overall, a stable platform for your hi-fi gear is an essential element of any high-quality audio system, particularly if you're using sensitive equipment like record or CD players. By minimizing vibrations and providing a solid foundation for your gear, you can help to ensure that you're getting the best possible sound quality from your system.
Have a great weekend and best regards,
      Yuri

thanks for the reply - I know about the benefits of a good rack but what is your opinion on the effects on the sound of this particular model of rack, the S3?

how can you get behind your gear to connect all wiring without tearing the crap out of the floor--- spikes are snake oil

    • @YuriBrus
      @YuriBrus  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I'm actually quite fond of the aesthetic of spikes on this rack. However, for the very reason you pointed out, I've opted to switch to rubberized M8 feet.

The spikes are nice but I changed mine out to for the same reason. My rack came with little steel discs to put under the spikes but it was kinda a pita if you needed to move something. With that said solid steel is top notch quality and looks great. The price is a hard pill to swallow no matter how deep your pockets are.

The only reason I hold onto my vintage rack is the caster wheel option I chose when I originally purchased it. It's unfortunate rubberized caster wheels are not offered as an option by this company. A true no-go for me.
