To all those who are dissing this engine as being underpowered, try doing a little research and learning something about engine design. Having worked on and owned early BMW M engines during the last millennium, the new BMW engines are poorly designed and not especially well built. All their current Dl engines tend to suffer from some degree of CBU, which can seriously degrade engine performance after as few as 45k miles. The fix is expensive, time consuming and requires the removal of the entire intake system and cleaning the intake valves individually, with crushed walnut shells, similar to sandblasting, but with a a different medium. The Toyota/Lexus engine on the lS350 uses dual injection, two sets of injectors for each cylinder,, both port and direct injection, which ever one is more efficient for the conditions. This eliminates CBU and provides the best of both the old and new technology. Unless you like spending 12-18 hours, or $1500+, every 45k miles to keep your engine running properly, avoid the new Dl BMWs. The reason used ones with relatively low mileage are so cheap is due to CBU and other quality control issues. That said, the earlier M and non M BMW engines, without Dl are strong, reliable, well engineered. and basically bullet proof, with nothing more than minimal maintenance. Due to their reputation for near indestructability, the old E28, E24, E30 and even E46 BMWs are now becoming highly sought after. Take your pick. As a longtime BMW owner and former pro mechanic, l'm going with the lS350.

Wait a minute 17:00 so you're telling me this $50k+ Lexus doesn't have a power tilt and telescoping steering column??? WOW. You can get that standard on the Toyota Avalon Touring 💯
Basically a 2006 powertrain, much slower than the competition but more reliable too. IMO Lexus can't keep stagnating on the same engine for much longer while the competition passes them by.
Its actually exactly as fast as its competition. The BMW 330i does 0-60 in 5.6, Merc C300 does it in 5.5, the Audi A6 does it in 5.1 or 6.6 depending on the engine you get.
@@Big_Red1 that's the thing, pricewise the IS350 F-sport with the Dynamic Handling package and minimal options (sunroof, nav) should compete with the likes of the M340i, Audi S4, C43 AMG and TLX Type S, who all have the Lexus outgunned.

This is the car for the generation of drivers that cut their teeth on older, naturally aspirated V6 performance cars like the BWM 328 - before manufacturers started cramming turbos into everything to extract as much horsepower as they possible could. Then they stuffed them full of technology no one really wanted to offset the emissions and handling consequences of a 400-500HP monster. People for get that it wasn't THAT long ago that 200 -250 HP was considered pretty potent. This car reminds me of those cars - especially the 328/330i coupes and sedans in the late 90's and early 2000's. Great drivers cars without all the gimmicks, and enough power to keep things interesting without having to have a lawyer on speed-dial. It's not the sweet BMW I-6, but the idea is the same for people who appreciate that older-school dynamic but need something more reliable.
Unfortunately, besides the exterior Lexus didn't do anything else to the car!😒 Engine is old, transmission is 6 speed the same as previous years, Toyota Camry has an 8 speed transmission, overall the car needs significant updates!

So unapologetically Japanese, aggressive and masculine. I can't get enough of the style, man. It speaks to me, and isn't that what this is all about? Jeez Louise-who wants to be driving around in a freakin' appliance that looks like any number of others? It reminds me so much of my Shogun Warrior when I was a little boy and how obsessed with him I was-would drag him everywhere! For inspiration, as Madonna would say......;) JV Johnny
Thanks Johnny for letting me bring it to you!
My everyday Lexus sedan! terrific job Joe.
Wow you were a teacher Joe? I love your car reviews. It be cool to hear you talk about how you made that transition on a future video.
Thanks Jose! Here you go: th-cam.com/video/kZw1XBRym7I/w-d-xo.html
Ya sold me Joe! Just bought a 2022 yesterday.

A lot of the competition can't even hold their value....👀
So very true!
@@RaitisRides if I had money sure I would get one of these but toyotas still good enough for me as there are the ones who make lexus.
I have a 2016 GS 350 F sport, liquid titanium with red interior. I don't think I will miss a lot if I upgrade to this. The Color is just stunning. im sure it looks better in person.
I laughed so hard at the “burrito with no guac” for the side door 😂. Great stuff man 👍
Thanks for letting me share some laughs with you!
Never change Joe ! I was also cracking up 😂
4 months in and i love this car more and more every day.
wow this color with the black wheels fucking sexy
Wait a minute 17:00 so you're telling me this $50k+ Lexus doesn't have a power tilt and telescoping steering column??? WOW. You can get that standard on the Toyota Avalon Touring 💯
Basically a 2006 powertrain, much slower than the competition but more reliable too. IMO Lexus can't keep stagnating on the same engine for much longer while the competition passes them by.
It looks so good thought that is for sure.
I have the 2017 is350 fsport. It’s very smooth to drive and have lots of power in it
Thanks for sharing that ownership experience!
Love the colors on this one. The price seems about right. Excellent review once again young man!!! 👍
Thanks Louis!
Now that was a review. The twisties said it all. Love the bigger touchscreen. The Mark Levinson is pumping 1800 Watts of super clean sound into 17 speakers.
Thanks Bernie for taking the time to say that and letting me share it with you!
I want this car honestly
same i just wanna buy it and keep it for like 10+ years its so nice
Yeah I like Tesla’s better but I would definitely get this
It’s just so nice and sporty
I am so glad that you like this one.
@@noahh1997 yup, i would just get it in the dark bluish color but it looks amazing
God I think Lexus really knows what they are doing
Saw this in blue the other day. Now I want one.
I know how you feel!
This is the exact spec I love. Will make a decision in 4 years when I retire if I get a clean one like this. Amazing exterior and interior
Really considering this vehicle after owning an 09 is250, love the ride quality reliability and aesthetics, hardest choice will be color😎
Thanks Fabian for letting me bring it to you!
I like that I don't see the bumper behind the grill, they've finally hid it properly
I have 2010 lexus IS and this is my next car 👌
I think you will love it!
lol why? i had a 2011 and this is same car....go german and dont look back at this brand, they dont even care about the IS models
@@AdrianWyrzykowski thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@AdrianWyrzykowski yup. i had a 2017 is350 and moved on to a C43 coupe. was a no brainer after i saw that 2021 IS models kept the same engine
@@AdrianWyrzykowski you will be looking on front of you as you see them pass you when your car is broken down on the side of the road...
Got my 2015 is350 4 years ago and that champ is still running. Might consider the new model.
*My gosh... The license plate says "6ET 500" bring on the IS 500 already, Lexus!*
Straight facts the IS 350 is good, but it is not a IS 500. That is the one I am going to get. I am a little interested in the Acura TLX Type S
@@JayAbreu12 type s is garbage. Under 400hp 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
License Plate is 6ET 530, not 500
What
@@eddaggers8901 Then I hope they make an IS 530 lol
love your energy and enthusiasm....and attention to detail....your one of the best....
I really appreciate you saying that Stewart!
I was waiting for this review, I’ve leased 7 IS models over the last 18 years, so I was looking forward to seeing Joe’s take on it- I may get IS #8 when my 2019 IS350 F Sport lease is up in spring 2022 if all goes well with business next year...
Thanks for letting me share it with you! It very well may be your next one!
Bought the is 350 f sport awd. May not be the fastest but looks great and getting Lexus reliability and the car is fun to drive with that v6 Sound.
Reviews keep getting better every time !“no guac” / “I would like to thank the cows “.... 🤣 keep up the good work !
Thanks Ricardo for letting me share the laughs and the cars with you!
Love your reviews. Your opinions are the fairest. Is seems like some other channels are overly critical and mostly opinion. Glad I subscribed. Keep up the good work!
it’s a refresh nothing more. Lexus needs to move the performance needle upward.
Could you impaine this with 400HP!?!
@@RaitisRides .. 400 hp and a diet. another great video BTW! keep on zonking!
@@JohnGem0324 Thanks man!
Lexus as a luxury brand. they need to push it to the limit. 10 more hp than a camry. or save money buy a camry
@@hom2fu not even close dude, I used to have an IS and considered going to a camry when lease was up, I test drove it...and nope, the overall feel, quality, experience was too much of a downgrade...and also front wheel drive? No thanks. Just because the HP is similar does not mean it is even a comparable product.
Glad I found this channel. My man is helping me decide my next car.
Nice looking car but you know how I feel about the grill. No wireless charging or rear seat connectivity is definitely a zonk. I was surprised to hear that it weighs more than my ATS with AWD. Thanks for sharing it Joe, have a good evening! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks Larry for letting me bring it to you!
Reliable with a newish design. I dig it. I have a 2016 350 Fsport and only thing thats gone wrong was rear leaking shocks but that was covered through warranty. Other than that its a light solid luxury sports car
“I wanna thank the cows that sacrificed their lives” lmao
Thanks for letting em share some laiughs with you!
The interior is NuLuxe though. No cows were harmed.
My wife has the is250 2010. Never ever had any problems. My 2016 Veloster Turbo Axel needed to be replace..
Always excited for a new video. Keep it up!
Thank you my friend! I am so glad that you are part of the Raiti's Rides family!
I think its a great! Because now it comes standard on IS350 F sport models with Torsen LSD, now i can say its a proper sports Sedan with Lexus Reliability🔥 i love it
So very true!
“Let’s fire up this F Sport and see what it sounds like!”
Completely underwhelming, that’s what.
Love the design, but wow that sound was not impressive.
its weird because it sounds pretty good on redline reviews vid.
*with enhanced fake engine noises to the interior
@@alfredo5439 and an exhaust and maybe some new headers

I love Lexus and will stick to buying one.
Nice call!
Love that Grill Design
Same here Ray!
55k idk...I’ll wait for the TLX type S it’s bigger with more HP
It should be interesting!
Agreed, tlx type S is amazing but doesn’t look as good as this IMO
Joe was or is a teacher, no wonder his reviews are not boring and makes me watch them always
Aside from those corny “you could fit about 6 twinkies in the there” he’s okay.
My one zonk: why can't I fit 20 Twinkies in the armrest compartment
Joe and Lori: Thanks for another nice video. Man love this color. Joe your driving skill is amazing to watch!!
Of course Michael! That really means a lot man!
Great Video Joe Please do 2021 Hyundai Veloster N with 8 speed dual clutch
Still waiting on them to be come available! Don't worry I will be bringing it to you!
That is one hell of a good looking car They hit the ball out the park with this design
That car so damn sexy... I should’ve taken out all my 401k when I had the chance when covid first started haha !!
I know how you feel!
We must be about the same age, either way very well said.
Unfortunately, besides the exterior Lexus didn't do anything else to the car!😒 Engine is old, transmission is 6 speed the same as previous years, Toyota Camry has an 8 speed transmission, overall the car needs significant updates!
Yea it’s even better to get an Camry
Jack njones yes, the engine is old! Back from 2006, what Lexus still couldn't create a new engine and transmission for IS?
Jack njones Alright pal I won't argue! I'm an Audi guy! I just can't get why would they stick an 6 speed automatic transmission to this car? This engine has 300 HP and combine it with 6 speed transmission! Where's the logic?
Outdoor Layne indeed!!! Thanks👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 at some rumos it was saying a car has 6 speed transmission! What a lie
@Jack njones
More gears means better mpg, a smoother ride (usually), and possibly better acceleration.
the grin on this guy's face as hes accelerating says it all. haha
