We did that on a Princess cruise (shared) and we added ours before the cruise began. We were on a 14 day Mediterranean cruise and it worked perfectly for us.
Free WiFi for 14 days on Serenade of the Seas by logging on to their free movies services. Was able to access unrestricted WiFi for the duration of the cruise. Probably a lucky glitch, I was too afraid to ask 😂😂
Was on a 7 day cruise in dec 2022, paid $83 for surf and stream wifi, and a bad experience with it. 1st day devices were not willing to connect, and even though we would login multiple times streaming was very slow. We had to wait in line many times at the voom service desk to get assistance, and then were told we'd have to forget network and have to start the process all over again. Also depending on where you are on the ship determines how good of a connection you'll get. If you are in your stateroom it's bad, but if you are near a router, or in the windjammer or library it works well. We did get a full refund eventually, but it was a headache having to go back in forth, spending most of our trip standing in line waiting for issues to be resolved. I'd buy the internet only if you are not able to disconnect due to family emergency back at home, but discourage anyone who is trying to work while on the cruise to purchase it. Also, there is a lot of entertainment on the cruise and most of the time you won't have time to be surfing on your phone--can't speak on behalf of anyone with kids.
Very good advise! I am about to go on my 1st cruise in January 2023 in the caribbean. Just my husband and I. I was wondering which package we should take. Your advise helpped me with my decision. We will be taking the 1 device and just share. Thanks! 🇹🇹
Thanks for this video. So let's see if I get this. If I have 4 people in my family, I can buy a 1 device package and we can just take turns logging in and out when we need it? On my Royal Caribbean cruised planner, it says "per person per day" so this is confusing.
Excelente video! Agradezco me puedan ayudar.
Just want to clarify what you said...My wife and I will be cruising together...Are you saying that we do not have make separate "reservations for the package"? If I buy for 4 devices under my name, and none under her name, she will still be able to use her phone and or other device?
@@jont718 Wondering how your experience was with the travel router? I have a cruise coming up soon and bought 1 person/2 devices; one for my wife and the other for me. But, I am also trying to figure out the best way to connect the travel router. I would prefer to just leave it in the stateroom and just carry my phone. But, if I do that, I guess I will have to be logging one or the other on/off, at least while I am out of the room?
Super helpful video but I have a question. We are traveling with 3 kids - two of them older teens who will likely be wandering around on their own. Am I able to still track the kids via life 360 or find my phone without the packages on every device?
I don't think you would be able to use the life 360 or find my phone if the devices are not all connected, but you would be able to message them through the cruise app
Hola! Quisiera conocer la experiencia, tengo el mismo escenario y no se que elegir. En mi caso deseo que solo dos puedan usarlo al mismo tiempo y poder compartirlo entre los 4. Gracias.
the ships free Wi-Fi only allows you to look at the Royal Caribbean app and messaging to other people who have the app. Otherwise, there is no Internet connection to the free Wi-Fi.
Ok, my question. It's me and best friend going, not family or same plans personally. I wonder if it is OK to do the two device for both of us instead of buying a single 1 phone each. Tried sharing a single package and that has not worked out well. 20 years being best friends but someone is a little stingy sharing a plan. 🤣
What a waste of money. Even with their alleged 25% discount, they want $21 dollars a day for the entire length of your cruise. At least with Carnival, you can opt for social media packages at $15 a day. Better to just tune it all out.
Don’t waste your money. Just got off radiance of the seas hours ago. 1st cruise in 10 years. The main difference between now and then is back then there was no wi-fi. Now there that still is no wi-fi but they charge you for. Meaning. The wi-fi sucked so bad you had to wait in long lines to complain about it. I probably would not have cruised knowing I would not have been able to check my security cameras, send and receive emails. Research things about the cruise. Here’s my tip. Click on the page you want, put your phone down and take a nap or have a few drinks then pick your phone up and maybe the page will be open then click again and put your phone down. You get the picture. Wanna research a shore excursion? Nope can’t do it. Wanna search something about the ship? Nope can’t do it. Wanna check your security cameras back home? Nope can’t do it. Sucks! sucks! Suck! Sucks so much that on the last night of main dining when the matr-d gives his big speech about leaving good reviews he said don’t blame him for the wi-fi service. And the wi-fi expert was a snob and could give a rats butt whether or not you had a problem. Can you tell I’m pissed?

Thank you so much for this information, we’re going 7/2024 with three grandkids and I was going to purchase 5! Glad I watched this
Glad it was helpful! Happy Cruising!
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Great!!
Super helpful! I stayed up trying to determine which to get. Thanks a lot! 👍🏽

Great advice for our first cruise. Thank you.
Happy cruising!
Awesome video. First cruise coming up for me and my wife. You saved me from buying the 2 device package.
Thanks for watching! Happy Cruising!
Thank you very much for this info, was wondering how and what package should I buy.

I wonder if the cruise ships use the Starlink service now that it’s available for “in motion” transport.
Good question!

Me too. I leave next week. I'm still trying to figure out this internet.
Okay, so you select one name/2 device for 89.97 total. We both can utilize the internet for 3 days.
What is the reception on Transatlantic cruise? Thanks
Should be the same as anywhere else in the world as it's recieved by satellite

That's correct. If you have 1 device package, you will have a log in and you can share it as needed.

How is the wifi on vision of the seas? I need it for a class I’m taking.
I've only been on Wonder of the Seas, and it was adequate.

Correct, she will just use your login and password and you can have any 4 devices logged in at the same time
Excelente help me a lot 😊
Nice!!
Does 4 devices have to be in one state room? I have another couple friends who will live in different state room with us.
That would work fine
I plan on bringing a travel router and am wondering how the login profess works, do you get a login name and password or is it just a password ?
Yeah it's just a username and password once you connect to the ship's WiFi
@@Myksgarage thanks ! So basically each time you have to sign onto a webpage and enter ur login name and password ?

Do you know if you can still access a home VPN?
Good question, not sure
What about if you have separate cabins? I am traveling this summer, 2 cabins, 4 people total. What is your suggestion?
Do you want all four people to have access to the internet at the same time. If you only need 2 devices at the same time you all 4 can share
Hola! Quisiera conocer la experiencia, tengo el mismo escenario y no se que elegir. En mi caso deseo que solo dos puedan usarlo al mismo tiempo y poder compartirlo entre los 4. Gracias.
Do you still need an antigen on a cruise right now?
If you don't, you need a negative Covid test
i mean if I already had 3x vaccine do I still need a covid test? because now I entey singapore no need covid test. thank you
It could vary by port of call, see your information page on your cruise planer for more info.
Does Voom still work on the ship when at ports of call?
Yes, works all the time, it even gives you access to the WiFi on their private island cococay
What is the difference between the ship’s free WiFi and the internet package? Speed? In app charges?
the ships free Wi-Fi only allows you to look at the Royal Caribbean app and messaging to other people who have the app. Otherwise, there is no Internet connection to the free Wi-Fi.
@@Myksgarage gotcha. Thanks
Was the connection strong? Did it keep dropping signal?
It didn't drop, it was a constant signal, it's just slow.
Can I text off my iPhone if I get second package? Can I use Snapchat?
Yeah iMessage will work and Snapchat should work fine. If you enable WiFi calling you can make phone calls as well
Can you hot spot your phone so others can use?
No, it disables that function on your phone

Yeah you can buy the 2 device package and then your friend can use your log in to use the second device log in.
@@Myksgarage thank you!
If i buy 1 device package, can i tether it to other device?
Tether no, each device can use the Wi-Fi signal one at a time.
Can we buy Internet for just one day for 7 day Cruise ? Or it should be purchased for all 7 days…
I'm not sure, as I have always pre-purchased it for the entire cruise.
Can i pick which days i want it or is it for all cruise days or nothing? Can i specify days?
I don’t believe so
Thank you! It's very confusing
Hopefully this helped!
Looks like they have only one plan now VOOM Surf & Stream $17.99/day. I recently booked Canada in October and this is the only plan that came up.
Interesting. That's the best one to go with anyways.
@@Myksgarage I wonder if it's Starlink and that's why they changed it. 🤔

I didn't use one
Charging for internet is ridiculous. Especially at these prices. What's next?
Electricity package?
Yeah exactly
does Ho spot work?
It does not, they disable your hotspot
Hi, it can be shared with computers?
Yes, any Device that can use WiFi can share it
I just purchased internet but no info on access code. How and when do I get that ? The email is just a receipt
I leave next week
You set the access code when you log onto the ships wifi, so you'll wait until you're onboard
