I didn't think the playing in person would make that much of a difference but the energy and enthusiasm was so much more pronounced. And Sullys betrayal of Adam was beautiful.

The visual of a horrific, beautiful space-bride singing "Love wins again!" as she unleashes a torrent of bombs on her new husband's planet is some gloriously epic 1970s sci-fi madness. Love when a cerebral boardgame comes with enough lore to still tell stories. And I love the new studio! Congrats on emerging from Hell into...slightly less Hell, but that slightly less sure feels nice, don't it?

I couldn't wait to watch this episode of Board Game Club, after Adam announced it. Cosmic Encounter was one of my friend's favorite boardgames. He passed away last year, leaving behind a hell of a winning streak that none of my gaming group could match. I love you, J. Rest easy, you goof.
This falls into the trap that a lot of gaming videos do where there is too many inane jokes and not enough gameplay. The kissing planet joke got old way too quick. Cmon guys

The game itself is great and seeing the crew in person is a delight. The Office style one on one shoots during the game really help sell the in game ludicrous stories.
@@ramaya007 Sorry a year late, but 'heel' is a wrestling term for a bad guy basically, most of them are wrestling fans who worked for another channel called WrestleTalk (and spin-off channel PartsFunknown), but heels in wrestling play the villain, their job is to get people to hate them, by doing heinous acts such as cheating and bending the rules, or mercilessly attacking faces (term for good guys), or saying mean things to other wrestlers or the crowds, etc...
Tom is very sinister but the fact that he is called the Tick-Tock, which is also the place I go to see guys in maid dresses do dances... it slightly undermines his aura.

For when his spouses needed him the most... he vanished and took half of their cards as alimony! I was possibly screaming at the screen a bit when Adam cut a deal with Sully for eight cards because I just knew Sully would divorce him instantly once that deal went through, and Sully did not disappoint! Loving this format! Was a bit worried that the transition to live games wouldn't be as smooth after doing online games for over a year, but this was amazing! Credit to the crew and editors for making it work so well!
Laurie's rage when saying "What the f***!" was amazing. Overall this was an amazing game. Amazing video. Great to see Board Game Club happening in-person as opposed to Zoom.

You also nailed it with the format non-webcam. My favorite in this is the almost documentary style when you interview a person single afterwards for a special moment. It gives so much power for that ridiculous moment and thatll delivers for so many goofy moments. You guys have such good chemistry! That made this channel blow up in the 1st place. I'd just love it'd be more interactive social games than one like cosmic encounters.
That was amazing!!! When Adam offered a colony for cards and Sully was like "I am going to end this marriage and this man's career" was one of the best moments this week! Fun fact I just played Cosmic Encounter for the first time this weekend. Loved it. When you shuffle the discard back in don't you Cosmic Quake and everyone gives their cards back and all draw a new hand of 8? That is how my rules read but my version looks a bit different than Adam's copy.
Cosmic Quake is when both the deck and discard are empty, essentially it's very rare and could only happen if there were tons of cards in everyone's hand.
I am smiling pretty much throughout the game, I am so happy to see the amorphous heads that I have been watching throughout the ups and downs of the past year, come together in real life and enjoy themselves. Probably one of the best and more entertaining videos I have ever seen. Surprising marriages and divorces, Adam self distructing and Tom giving an extraordinary performance. I can't wait for the next episode and I will buy this game for sure as soon as possible
This is definitely my favourite episode of board game club. It's perfect! All the twists and tensions make it feel like a whole season of a drama show tightly packed into one hour and thirty minutes.

Hey NRB team, I’m really glad I watched this cosmic encounters let’s play. I watched a let’s play back in 2018 (when I was first getting into the hobby) and I thought it was too complicated. I’m glad you’ve proved me wrong and can’t wait to play this with my board game group after lockdown here in Australia.
I am only 4 minutes into this video and already crying. Seeing you being able to sit together in person in this wonderful studio just gives me all the feels
I actually bought this game because of lovely Plumpy's Baord Game Masterpieces video, and am a huge fan. Tom's mastery of patience drives this whole video for me lol.
I've never even heard of this game before but I've just seen the first play and man, Sully made off like a bandit. Yeah, he lost a planet but he gained 4 cards and Blair sent a pretty strong armada as well? I assume 23 is strong, so she just lost a strong card on top of 4 randos.
It's here, what a week so far. Punk wrestled, Bryan, Cole and Ruby went to AEW, and also Suzuki, and now in person Board Game Club! GET ON BOARD! And it is still beautifully exciting to see Adam so giddy about being a board game nerd, it's the best!
This was huge fun to watch. I especially loved the "asides" to the camera, keeping the viewers up to date on what each playr was plotting, or their reactions to certain twists.
I love the editing on this one, I was worried that it would become harder to follow the game when it's no longer a screen set up but the camera perspectives and graphics are great! And the talking heads are a nice touch as well. Good job!

Hey NRB team, I’m really glad I watched this cosmic encounters let’s play. I watched a let’s play back in 2018 (when I was first getting into the hobby) and I thought it was too complicated. I’m glad you’ve proved me wrong and can’t wait to play this with my board game group after lockdown here in Australia.
I am only 4 minutes into this video and already crying. Seeing you being able to sit together in person in this wonderful studio just gives me all the feels

I actually bought this game because of lovely Plumpy's Baord Game Masterpieces video, and am a huge fan. Tom's mastery of patience drives this whole video for me lol.

I've never even heard of this game before but I've just seen the first play and man, Sully made off like a bandit. Yeah, he lost a planet but he gained 4 cards and Blair sent a pretty strong armada as well? I assume 23 is strong, so she just lost a strong card on top of 4 randos.
I have watched Sully divorce Adam so many times. It may be my favorite moment of all time on this channel.
It's here, what a week so far. Punk wrestled, Bryan, Cole and Ruby went to AEW, and also Suzuki, and now in person Board Game Club! GET ON BOARD! And it is still beautifully exciting to see Adam so giddy about being a board game nerd, it's the best!

This was huge fun to watch. I especially loved the "asides" to the camera, keeping the viewers up to date on what each playr was plotting, or their reactions to certain twists.

I love the editing on this one, I was worried that it would become harder to follow the game when it's no longer a screen set up but the camera perspectives and graphics are great! And the talking heads are a nice touch as well. Good job!

I love this new format with the one person interviews in between. It makes it feel like an actual great reality show and I'm not a reality TV or even a TV kind of person. Also, Brooke better watch her back with Sully 😂😂
