+MyOpinionMatterss I wish this vid came out back in '94 when I started! We were all over the place. Anything over 350 feet was a very tough deuce due to lack of good plastic and discs. They were around like the eagle and cyclone, but you didn't know how they would fly after a few rounds. Smoothness was lacking and the x-step was called the scissor step. There was way to much put on your footwork back then. Some people were throwing over 400 feet by running up, but we didn't stop and think they were throwing smoothly with great finishes. The running up part was useless and just helped them get a better angle on their release point. Good luck and remember smooth=distance. Learn to control your midranges and putting before moving on to drivers. In any doubles event I'd rather have a partner who throws 250 feet straight and with touch and can also make 30 foot and in putts consitantly. MUCH rather have him than a guy who can throw 500 feet yet chains out on 20 foot putts and sucks at approach shots!
The thumb tips are game changers. As a LHBH only player, I went from accidental putter forehand rollers to 200 foot dead straight aviar forehand’s by just using the thumb tips. Helps that I’m a rock climber so grip strength isn’t an issue but GRIP TIMING is everything 🙌🏼. Thank you!!!! Btw, the xt dart is the best dead straight forehand putter disc. Prove me wrong 🤷🏽♂️
Like the video. I do question the desision to use a champion disc that is blue with a white backdrop. Can't really make out what he is doing to the disc
I love all your videos up to this point. I also agree grip is greatly underrated. And I agree about the pads, but where I disagreed is the Thumb. Everything you say can be applied to Forehand, but on backhand thumb pressure doesn't need to be tense as pinky to palm pressure. The pinky or ring finger are the very first fingers to rip off the disc, once the disc breaks free of them no amont of thumb pressure will help. Also thumb pressure causes muscle tension in the biceps.
Pinky pressure only tenses up the forearm muscles, its much easier to throw farther with a rubber/sling shot arm. Distance isn't about muscle strength its about flexibility. Muscle tension is counter productive.
Excellent tips, though indeed a few close-ups on his thumb would have been nice. Indeed, what would be great is a high-speed camera close-up on a proper release, showing the timing.
A close up of how the thumb is suppose to contact the disc would be nice. I was pressing with the tip of my thumb. I have read that this is not correct. The website says, " the base of the thumb" I am guessing that big fleshy part by the palm?
@InnovaDiscGolf no. that is clearly food dribble. the mic is at the "v" of the neck collar. the food dribble is obvious as it sits on the inside of his left collar. . . . just to clear that up.
good video, but in the future, when you have a white background, don't use a light blue, champion disc. Give the guy a red or an orange star or pro plastic so it will show up better.
it is obviously food of some sort on his left collar the little white spots its not stitching its not a mic its food or drink of some sort only an idiot wouldnt see it. not that it matters AT ALL because this is a video about disc golf not fashion
I wish I'd seen this video a year ago when I started playing. Probably the most important video I've seen so far.

#1 takeway from the video "Have a good grip on that thang"
Underrated comment

I superglue my disc to my hand and just run and jump in the basket! You do not need a death grip on your disc. Wake up America!

@sthomas128 That's a microphone
@MilwaukeeDreadie Those are button holes.
Awesome sidearm tip @ 3:04
"So that thing rips out without losing any speed".. "You want it to be continuously accelerating out of your hand"

Try throwing (backhand) a playing card with just your arm....then try it with whipping your wrist at the end...you’ll get it now....
Wow!👍👍
Nice Barry Schultz Champion Beast
thx!!
The preview image for the video made me think he was gonna teach how to do a Kamehameha
Why would the buttons be on the side of the shirt collar that's on the outside?
K ND no its not go throw on a button up dip shit
seems like it would help get more spin on the disc also..

That's what she said
@MilwaukeeDreadie button holes for button......
I live hb california. I'd love to work for innova. I live the sport of disc golf
opposable thumbs rule

The "food" on his left collar is a hole for a button dummy. Ever heard of a polo? No offense i like tshirts too but for cripes sake.
Whistler's bend disc golf course is the best in America!!!
541
420
Smoke weed then play disc
MEEGZ VENEGAS played there last week... tough course
i dont get it
You'd think they could get Dave a shirt that didn't have food dribbled on the collar??
it is obviously food of some sort on his left collar the little white spots its not stitching its not a mic its food or drink of some sort only an idiot wouldnt see it. not that it matters AT ALL because this is a video about disc golf not fashion
laramie brown im pretty sure its his button holes for his shirt dip shit.
laramie brown its fight milk
If it doesn't matter why say it? Either way you are confidently incorrect. Those are button holes that they used white thread to hem them with.
the older you get the more words you need to say to get your point across...
Waste of time.
