      If one looks at automotive design, headlights, radiators, motors, wheels and bumpers all disappeared into the sleek bodies of the cars of today. Antiques, race cars and hotrods are the only cars exposing their tech, so why should today’s bikes? Plus, if you care that much about what kind of tech I’m riding, probably not interested in riding with ya 😉

      As a consummate bike geek: like overall, but wish this bike was designed around a 140-150 fork. As a sane person: no like price. But perhaps there's a lower spec that works...

      The Scott Lumen 900 SL is an April fools day joke, right. At over A$25,500 is a bike that only a fool would part with that sort of cash.

      Well to be honest Im not sure as that had to be one of the most un in-depth tiny snippet reviews I've ever had the misfortune to sit waiting for close to 18 minutes to (Not) watch. I was hoping for a review of the Scott lumen.

    I appreciate a high end / high price bike, but I have to ask myself, will I have more fun or will it make me a better rider? I usually go for the middle of the pack line up in builds. Not quite as light, but performs just as well.

    hi - nice video. how do you feel about the 50 NM on the Scott Lumen - is it enough vs a Orbea Rise M10 or M20 with 60 NM? Is there really much diff between 50NM and 60NM? Would like to hear your feedback. Do you think the TQ HPR50 motor is replaceable with a newer TQ motor in the future?

  • @michelhickey5765

    I agree, I would be worried to ride a high value bike for everyday use because someone can knock you off and take off with it, maybe a professional race, but for every day use just use a standard bike.

  • @nodaysoff23
    @nodaysoff23 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It's the price difference gents. 16k vs 5k for analog. That's huge. The emtb bikes are stupidly overpriced even considering mtb prices. You can get a friggin Ducati 950 for that money!!!

    • @quitemountainous2528
      @quitemountainous2528 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your comparison is misleading, should he a pilitician. You compared top of the range emtb model with the cheapest mtb. Compare cheapest with cheapest and top with top

    • @nodaysoff23
      @nodaysoff23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@quitemountainous2528that may be true but shelling out much more than 5-6k is very diminishing returns. So is the amount of people that would do that as well. I've been a biker since 1990. The pricing has gotten out of hand in general. Bikes like this particular model are downright laughable. I used the motorcycle comparison to highlight just that. Remember, Scott was a ski goggle company. They weren't even very good at that.

    • @quitemountainous2528
      @quitemountainous2528 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @nowbowbrowncow Agreed, that's why I would get a £6000 version and upgrade later if necessary. Saying this, never liked Scott bikes and would rather get something else, something with suspension good enough that does not need idiotic lockouts. I like my ebike and do not want to hide that it is an ebike, don't get why companies try to hide it.
      It is annoying that they always show the top model and shout how light it is, tell me how light is the cheapest model, don't care about top of the range overpriced bike.

    • @nodaysoff23
      @nodaysoff23 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@quitemountainous2528 That's the way bike intros go but agree, I'd want to see reviews of the mainstream models. COVID years were great examples of what people actually buy. No problem getting a top spec bike or an entry level one but very hard to find the mid tier stuff since that's what everyone wants.

    • @toshman696969
      @toshman696969 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nodaysoff23 every manufacturer has a 13-15k bike. At least with an emtb you could argue why the price is higher. Road bikes are at same price range and don't have moving parts or had massive innovation over last 10 years.
      Comparing 6k mid range to 15k high end rage is not fair. I bet Scott has same model at around 6-7k that would be more fair.

    I think the biggest news about the Scott Lumen is that Scott is really just a creatively bankrupt company. They use a super basic horst-link suspension, they bought Bold so they could steal their internal shock crap, and this Lumen is literally just a recreated Trek Fuel EX-E - the spec and fit and finish are identical, they just adapted the Trek Fuel EX-E to the Spark. The only thing they do that is unique is the twin-lock nightmare that most reviewers hate and should be unnecessary with a competent suspension design. Just bad, I have no idea how they are such a massive company.
