Korone Panics When a Mega Man Designer Shows Up As She's Complaining About Mega Man 3 [Hololive]

  • Korone tries to hide the evidence after being caught in 4k. That being said, her list of annoyances/frustrations obviously weren't mean-spirited, so hopefully Ariga-sensei wasn't offended.

      Additional context is he wasn't part of the games until Rockman and Forte (he designed the boxart, Burnerman and Dynamoman); he did submit design for MM8's robot master contest but none of them were selected. Before that he drew a 4-koma series in the early 90's and then his more famous Rockman Megamix and Gigamix. And iirc he's Yuzo Koshiro's brother-in-law, married to the younger sister Ayano, so the whole extended family is becoming a fan of Korone's at this point

His first art design for the games was Rockman and Forte, doing the boxart and designing Burnerman and Dynamoman. The bulk of his work in this IP are manga adaptations, most of them were across the 90's with Megamix and Gigamix being by far the most standout and popular.

      Art design, to stress, and Ariga was not doing any art design for the games when 3 was made. He didn't start until Rockman and Forte, doing the boxart and designing Burnerman and Dyanmoman. He's just a very devoted fan of the IP and follows lots of vtubers streaming them. Ariga's more known for his manga serials, with two of his most standout work being Rockman Megamix and Gigamix, which adapt several game plots notably Rockman World 5 (the 5th GB game) in Gigamix. Leans into the Shotaro Ishinomori influences Rockman already had from inception like giving Blues a casual outfit that matches Saburo/Hakaider, since he already copies Saburo's gimmick of announcing his arrival by whistling.

      For clarity, Ariga is an artist and mangaka, not a game designer or a developer- he had no role in 3 at all, he wasn't part of the games until Rockman and Forte. He did the boxart for Rockman and Forte as well as designed Burnerman and Dynamoman; he had submitted designs for MM8's contest but none won, but they can be seen in the credits roll. He's most famous in the context of this IP for two of his several manga adaptations in the 90s: Rockman Megamix and Rockman Gigamix. He's also done a good amount of work for Gamefreak on Pokemon's TCG as well as the games, being invited in by Ken Sugimori. All that being said, Megamix and Gigamix are awesome and if you've never read you should- Gigamix is amazing alone just for having an adaptation of Rockman World 5, the gameboy game.
      He has a vtuber model himself too, but he hasn't streamed his work process in a while- he tends to retweet and follow other vtubers playing megaman or pokemon games. IIRC he's married to Yuzo Koshiro's sister Ayano, so the whole extended family is becoming a fan of Korone's at this point.

      @@gtf234 to add to that, technically he was a part of Megaman 4 in a way - he was one of 8 kids in japan back then to win the megaman boss design challenge with his submission that he drew, it was for Brightman. so he has one of the 8 golden cartridges for megaman 4. its dope that he was a huge megaman fan since back then and later went on to work on official rockman manga for capcom, big fan of his work. I didn't know he was married to Yuzo Koshiros sister but thats dope! Yuzo Koshiro is such a great composer, love his stuff too!

      @@mattasaurs Ariga worked as an illustrator and art designer for Ancient Corp in the early 90s for a few years, ie the Koshiro family company; Ayano is also an art designer for Ancient. He's in the credits for Actraiser 2.
      He was supposed to be heading a Klonoa anime production but sadly that got cancelled officially a few years back. Maybe the upcoming remasters of Klonoa 1 and 2 will get that restarted with new interest.
      But that aside, yeah, MegaMix and GigaMix are great- he really leans in hard on the Shotaro Ishinomori inspirations that were always prevalent across the Rockman IP like making Blues even more like Saburo/Hakkaider by giving him Saburo's outfit as casual wear. I feel like he had a lot of ideas that rippled out of those manga and influences other works in the IP, like the noticeable similarity between Shadowman.EXE and how Ariga depicted Shadowman; or how the Sentinel 4 inch figures came in a combo pack of Cutman and the MM7 Super Adapter Megaman (with the promo photos showing you can put Cutman's head on the SA body), when using the Super Adapter to fight the Space Rulers is a thing Cutman did in GigaMix.

    The top annoyance in Mega Man 3 for me is definitely Doc Robot. I like the idea, but the fact that Doc Robot is so bulky means he can very easily corner you, even on the fights that are meant to be easy.
    With the exception of Bubble Man, there is a very easy exploit for that one. But other than that the fights go from 'a decent challenge' to 'Doc Quick Man'.

    • @MexicanSheepMan
      @MexicanSheepMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Their stages also feel like unnecessary padding, they reuse assets and are way longer than they should. The Doc Robots also aren't interesting at all, giving a huge robot Quick Man's moveset and expecting it to fit is just complete bullshit. And the worst part is how jarring going from the annoying Doc Robot stages to the piss easy Wily Fortress ones is, it shows they didn't even bother scaling up the difficulty naturally and just shoved the Doc Robot stages in as filler (Which makes sense since MM3 is pretty much a released beta).

    • @Dorian_Scott
      @Dorian_Scott 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those stages are just padding. It's genuinely cool seeing the bosses from Megaman 2, but that doesn't change the fact that the levels themselves don't serve any purpose other than to waste your time.

    • @ShadowdaHedgie11
      @ShadowdaHedgie11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dorian_Scott To be fair, you could say all the stages in a video game are 'padding' to waste your time.
      The main issues with the stages themselves is the bosses being very bulky (especially when it comes to Doc Quick and Doc Air) and reliance upon Rush Jet for... was it one or two of them? ...Anyway, reliance on Rush Jet which means that if you run out of Rush Jet, you have to game over and start the stage all over again.
      The Wily stages are guilty of this too, but at least it doesn't fall into the pitfall that Mega Man 2 and 4 did, of making the final boss vulernable to only ONE weapon, and if you run out, you either have to game over (Mega Man 2) or choose between farming and game overing (Mega Man 4)

You redo 4 of the stages that you *_just_* cleared but they're a little harder (with not that many checkpoints either), the bosses themselves are bit *too* ridiculous, it's harder to judge stuff like the Leaf Shield or Metal Blades, they move so fast and they can easily kill you if you're not careful enough. And the worst part? You fight two of these guys in each stage. Granted, it *_is_* cool to see all of the Robot Masters from Megaman 2. But this is all just unneccessary padding to me. @@DarkYamatoman It almost feel like a celebration to the mangakas. And boy I had no idea Rockman X had a manga that followed the OG continuity. I though it was it's on plot, I guess I'll have to look into that. I suppose King coulda been designed by one of the mangakas you mentioned, or maybe I'll just search it later. Thanks for all this info.

    where this gets wild is: Hitoshi Ariga used to work for Ancient Co as an art designer back in 1992-1993. which means that for a short while, he and Yuzo Koshiro were co-workers

      They're brothers-in-law. Hitoshi Ariga's married to Yuzo Koshiro's sister Ayano. Ayano also works at Ancient Corp as an illustrator and art designer- the Koshiro family founded the company.

    To be fair, Mega Man 3 is REALLY annoying, and this is coming from someone who's beaten Mega Man 1 twice

    LOL "the background music is good though" is code for "this game is dog shit and I'm trying to find literally anything positive to say about this waste of time because it just sounds like I'm being too negative.". At least that's how it is for me playing games.

      Do you even know what mega man is? It is the definition of a run and gun platformer, it literally created that style.
