    If I double click the item it just brings up the menu for that item. Is it a PC/Mac thing?

    Thanks for the truly awesome tip but.... it doesn't work when changing the tempo afterwards. I have the "project time base" set to "Beats (position only)" which does the trick when I arrange by copying/pasting items (without this looping trick), but it goes off the rails when I change the tempo with looped items... If I uncheck "preserve pitch when changing rate" it stays in time but then the pitch of the drum hits changes (and that's not the desired result).

    This is great, problem is that if you want to mute some of the hihats for example, you cant just mute those, you have to make an automation for that. Also you can't make them swing... So yeah, this workflow has pros and cons, but great workflow booster for sure. Thanks!

    What's the difference between that SWS action, to using the actual reaper action (item properties: loop item source)... it seems to do the same thing.
    And if you can explain please, what is the difference between those and "item properties: loop section of audio item source"?
    Thanks.

    Hello everyone! I'm thinking to move from ableton to reaper and I wanted to know if I can do something similar like groups. In ableton I create on the same track a group, I have the wet signal, and then I create another chain which is dry. So, is that possible in reaper? I don't want to do that with sends.

    Awesome video!
    Is there a way to revert the "drag-out behavior" so that if at a certain point of the track, I can drag-loop without the spaces appearing? That is, say I have a loop set up as you've shown, and it has a measure of silence followed by three measures of audio loop. After a number of sections like that, I want to pull out the three measures of audio, without it inserting the measure of silence first. I tried gluing the audio measures and it did not help.
    Thanks in advance!

    Didn’t you do a video on creative use of the metronome possibly with CWC tweaks etc. - I though had saved it but have watched a myriad of your YT videos and can’t locate it - I’d be happy to pay for it if it is in one of your training modules but first I have to make sure it was you who published it. Thanks in advance

    • @TheREAPERBlog
      @TheREAPERBlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe, but if you're doing anything advanced it's really worth moving to MIDI instead of the built-in metronome.

    Wait a minute. Something is off here. When I drop a short clip on the timeline, if I stretch it beyond it's native length, it loops from wherever it ends. So using your example, the 16th note would have started looping before the next eighth note. That tag of silence would not be at the end. Am I wrong?

    • @TheREAPERBlog
      @TheREAPERBlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This would be soooo much better if it were a toggle for looping the items. Sometimes you wanna loop up to a certain point, extend the silent part, and loop again with the added silence. Also, it would probably prevent me from making some mistakes here and there. I keep running into this issue where for some reason, even though the items are snapped to grid and they finish where they are supposed to, it turns out the loop doesn't start until a little bit later, so after a while everything is off sync. By making it a toggle I could fix it at some point later instead of having to delete everything and starting all over with my loop. An amazing tip/tool nevertheless!

    • @gagarine42
      @gagarine42 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a toggle in actions "item properties: loop item source". You can add this action to a menu or toolbar. It should be on the item's right-click menu by default.

    Meanwhile pretty much every single other DAW has a toggle so you can just trim the loop, toggle it to loop only that clip, not the ENTIRE SOURCE AUDIO FILE like Reaper does. These workarounds you have to do in Reaper just to do the basic things other DAWs have done for years (decades even) is crazy. That you have to turn off looping to get looping to work properly in Reaper is ridiculous.
    This video is three years old now. I've been using Reaper for more than 10 years now and this was an issue back then and NOTHING has been done about it.
    Sorry. Rant over. Reaper is great for other reasons. It just sucks when you're in the flow and then you have to pull yourself out to do a bunch of BS that you could have done in other DAWs with just a single click.
