For thirty years I’ve been wetting my watercolor pans one drop at a time from a straw. In two seconds you just changed my work process. “Spray them down.” Thank you!

Hi Kristy, I wanted to tell you that I am sitting here with my "line" brush and I am just making lines, getting a feel for how much water and paint I need. I have cheap everything, paint, brushes, and paper, but I just made a beautiful eucalyptus spray, that I am quite proud of, for being a beginner. I love your style and your encouragement. I took an acrylic painting class and drawing class in college, and I loved them both. I have always loved to draw, so it was fun. I wish I had taken painting 2, because it was watercolor. Watercolor is an adventure for me and I am so happy I found your channel. You make it seem simple, and you take the stress off of my perfectionism, if that makes sense. I appreciate that more than you will ever know. I hate that part of me, being a perfectionist, especially, in my artwork. I am my biggest critic. I told my son that I hated being a perfectionist and he asked me why...he then proceeded to tell me all the good things about being a perfectionist. I had never really thought of it as a good thing, it was always negative, to me. Anyway, I want to thank you and tell you how much I appreciate you. I went through many years of depression and I felt good over the last few years, but it started creeping up on me again, and you have given me a little hope, not just through the painting, but through your encouraging words. ❤️🤗❤️ Thank you!!!

I never knew what they meant by “Movement” in watercolor, now I do. You use the greenery as arrows to move the eye through the painting. We follow the curlicues of leaves, swirls of petals and other interesting foliage or flowers. It really does give movement and energy to the work. I learned a lot, and I’m an intermediate watercolorist.

Hi Kristy❤️, I came across one of your books at an art supplies store here in Holland where I live. I saw it was a mixture of drawings from all of your four cutting gardens books. The publisher is Deltas. I noticed the paper was so smooth that it made me question whether it's watercolor paper or not. And whether the English books have the same smooth paper. Your Painterly Days books have paper with more tooth. Do you know if this Dutch book is meant for watercolor painting? I would like to purchase it, but it seems to me that it is so much harder to work with smooth paper so I haven't bought it yet. I would like to hear from you🙂.
    All the best, Gerda

Ahhh yes!! The Dutch print is made for watercolor painting, it’s more of a hot press with less texture :)

@@KristyRice thank you Kristy for your answer👍. So if I want more textured paper I should choose the English books? There is a difference between the Dutch and the English?

Art beside the point ... you are wonderful. Sub & binge weekend. Painting (ish) for many years but always a tense exercise so "blendy blend' absolutely grabbed me. I'm putty in your voice. Ready for re moulding, dahhhlin'.

Your colors are so vibrant! It seems like you have two or three colors in one stroke. I don’t have that many colors. Your florals are so awesome. I love your style but am overwhelmed at the overall depth and color and movement. I think I need to try a dagger brush.

I’m biased but everyone should try a dagger brush!!
