All the best Boris, quite happy to see you after so long and to know that you're working in your dream company. Keep bringing more inspirational stuff to us.
Thank you very very much 😊 I am super happy as well and will try to share as much of my experience as I can, so that I can try to help you guys as much as I can ❤️
Before you put on the cap, I was like "no way he's gonna say sakana" and then you did. What a savage man. Congrats!!! Also, as another bloke without a phd working as a research engineer, I think MSc level knowledge in ML or even perhaps some other way of exposure where you get to explore something deeply so you remember the "pain"/"experience" of it longer is probably enough to cultivate good research habits. That should help you learn the skill to adapt and learn new info quickly.
haha yeeeah it's super exciting and I also couldn't quite believe it when I passed all the interviews and actually got accepted :) But yeah, you advice is also great! I guess, at some point, the hard work will always pay off 😊❤️
Congrats man. I don't know who you are and have never seen your vids, but it popped up in my feed and I think as people we all love to see each other succeeding and making their dreams come true. Best of luck in Japan!
All the best, Boris This is your Follower From India I liked your videos and you have inspired me a lot Thank you for it. And I hope you do well ahead in your life Because of you I am also inspired and have applied in the Company let's see how it goes. Once again very Happy for you Congratulations 🎊 👏
Man, it's fantastic I really cannot even describe what am I really thinking now about this journey of that career. I dunno exactly by your words - it's luck or hard work, but I think it's 50/50 in you'r case even without PhD. Good luck to you, damn, dreams are getting reality. I hope I could do the same as you(but in other company☺)
Congratulations Boris! So happy to know you for a very long time now and to see you succeed how you always wanted to! 🎉 Maybe see you one day in Tokio 🫶🏼
Congratulations! I’ve been following for a while now, this is so deserved. I’m where you were two years back now, hopefully working on multimodal AI research this year, looking to follow a similar path!
Gratuliere Boris! You say it was a bit of luck, but it seems to me that you put in a lot of work and took initiative! I also liked that you shared, that you work with people with PhDs. I would feel quite insecure!
Sir i wanna be you someday when i grow up. Being an ai researcher for me is a dream but ri8 now m fighting with the scary mathematics of machine learning, and yours videos are my source of inspiration.
We all, and I really mean all of us, had times where we were struggling with some part of the learning process. And I‘m telling you, this will never stop haha perhaps it will be less intense of a struggle as in the beginning, but every time you learn something new, you will make mistakes. So keep going, look at different resources multiple times and don‘t think you need to fully understand it at the first attempt. You can also revisit the topic a few weeks/ months later, when you have learned more, and then perhaps it will (almost magically) make more sense. Keep it up and have fun! ☺️❤️
Wow, that’s amazing to hear! I can definitely sense your dedication through the screen, and I believe you’ve worked really hard to achieve this. It’s truly inspiring and gives me motivation to work even harder. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
Super happy for you ❤ sakana is really interesting, I actually wasn't aware of them before Roberts BLISS talk a month ago, really looking forward to the development of this field of research
HUGE congrats!!! 🎉 Don’t know much about you, but it seems like you leverage every step along your career to make the next one. If that’s the case I think that’s great and it’s something i try to do. Wish you all the best!! 💪
Congratulations and All the best with your work Boris Sir. Your video always excites me for the future which is waiting for me in the Abyss of Ai. Just like what you said, im a total beginner who entered the college 2 month ago and don't know what to do in Ai but wants to learn it very badly. I don't know what more to say, but Please keep bringing this type of videos Once more, Congratulations🎉
Thank you very much! I am genuinely super happy that my videos can help getting more amazing and excited people like you into AI 🚀☺️ Definitely keep it up!!
Hey Boris, happy for you to chase your dreams. My english is not the best by itself, but I can tell you, that "chef" in German is not "chef" in english :) 10:38 Alles Gite in Tokio!!!! Liebe Grüsse
I’m currently doing my MS solely because I want to break into AI research. My main passion is also in multimodal ai but I’ve found it hard to find research opportunities in that area. Your story is inspiring!
Yeah! There are so many more options if you start looking outside of your own university/ own city/ own country! It will be more stressful, but I think, it is worth it :) Keep it up!!!
Congratulations for the new event 🙏🏿🙏🏿🥳🥳 And I want to ask you, if we are starting with Ai what kind of paper we have to read to understand the basic and have a big picture
Firstly , a well-deserving congratulations, man!! I'm planning on pursuing a masters in Japan, and was brainstorming for some ideas. Can you give some ideas as to which kind of research proposals would be best to do in Japan? I was thinking of doing some benchmarking of models, including some enhanced models (Transformers and CNN-BiLSTMs) in healthcare and disease prediction. Can you please give some ideas, how I should proceed here, is my line of thought correct, or should I focus on Multimodal learning? Could you share your research on Multimodal learning or a part of it? I know I'm asking a lot here, but I just don't know who to ask and research proposal is such an important thing, that will stay for me. Thanks a lot in advance!!!
well done mate, im really happy for you. how you grind all over the years, its just wow, you deserved this🎉 im doing my masters now, when itll end i will be 34. do you think that my age would be problem for me to find a job in the area should i be worried? thanks and congrats again❤
Well done, you deserve it! No impostor syndrome, you worked very hard and got it, very inspirational for my journey I hope to meet you at that lab in future! Work on the next AI scientist 2.0 :D
Thank you! Every person will forever have imposter syndrome (as long as they care about the thing they do)! So, as long as I am aware of it, you can do something about it :) So I‘ll just do what I have always done, just do my best, push through the harder times, and have fun ☺️
@@borismeinardus I really want to apply for the summer internship position at sakana ai what is happening in AI right now is so interesting and I would really love to join, any tips that you could give me? I am now in my final year of my undergrad and moving into a masters in machine learning. I know it is a long shot but would you be available for a call? If not I really appreciate the videos they are really inspiring! Well done for getting so far!
Boris could you now make a precise video on how to approach a position like you were selected for in 6 months or so, I really need your help. Will complete my Undergraduate in 6 months from now.
I‘ll do my best, yes! But as a short answer, I think what you should look for is experience. Either at some company/ lab, and/ or through own projects/ open source contributions. Projects and experience get you the interviews. Knowledge den help you pass the interviews. But all of that can take time! So the most important thing is to keep going and improving! Also, try to have fun, of course ☺️ I hope this already somewhat helps :)
Luckily, my company is not a traditional Japanese company :) We'll see how it really operates, but so far, it has more of an America-inspired vibe haha So far, I love everything and have a feeling that I will enjoy it in future as well :)
good luck. i always want to stay in japan to build something but I am a big nerd and scare a lot to be more isolated than now because super conservative culture.
I am certain you can do it! You just need to love what you do and do it for a long time :) We are all just at the beginning! Keep it up and have fun ☺️
so you are working for a company which automates researching. I thought this is one of the field which people won't try to disrupt by AI anytime soon. I am happy for you but not happy for the "The AI Scientist: Towards Fully Automated Open-Ended Scientific Discovery"
Congrats Boris! I think all of your followers (myself included) are happy to see you so hyped and accomplished:) I wanted to ask you if you had any advice on how would I go about doing some research in multi-modal learning/large language models. I have a PhD in Electrical Engineering and right now I have a full-time job as "Applied AI Scientist", but basically what I am doing is building software around LLMs API calls 🥲 For this reason, I wanted to do some research work to make my curriculum more suitable for Researcher positions and basically getting a publication in the AI space (I already have 3 first-author journal publications in Engineering topics from my PhD). I wouldn't know how to start myself a research project on multi-modal learning, so I wanted to ask you if you had any advice on projects that I could join or people I could ask to contribute. Thank you and congrats again!:)

Thank you!
Haha, we‘ll see how much the people here want to see more of japan and less of ML, so, maybe 👀🇯🇵
Nice - great stuff!
Thanks! 😊
What advice would you give on finding recruiters?
Congratulations, Boris. 🎉
sakana literally means "fish". So, you're working for fish AI, now. :D
Bro currently im pursuing degree Bachelor in Artificial intelligence. What should i do for job like gain experience in ML or other any specific field
How did you end up in Japan ? 😮
As soon as I saw Tokyo in the title, I figured he'd be working at Sakana.
haha yeah, not thaaaat many famous options here :)
Congrats
Wait, but Japan works more 10 hours per day, are you fine with it?
Luckily, my company is not a traditional Japanese company :)
We'll see how it really operates, but so far, it has more of an America-inspired vibe haha
So far, I love everything and have a feeling that I will enjoy it in future as well :)
What did you study in your college studies
Bachelor: computer engineering - Master: computer science :)
good luck. i always want to stay in japan to build something but I am a big nerd and scare a lot to be more isolated than now because super conservative culture.
Banco el audio en español. jajsj Saludos desde Argentina genio.
You are leaving my dream 😢
I want to go to Tokyo or German uni as AI researcher
I am certain you can do it! You just need to love what you do and do it for a long time :)
We are all just at the beginning! Keep it up and have fun ☺️
👏🏻👏🏻
Good luck in japan
thank you 🇯🇵☺️
