I'm wondering if at the time, he had more planned for Zexion and that was why he deliberately went with the decision for his weapon to remain unrevealed. Then come new reeditions of the game and several console switchovers, boom, he changed his tune. Zexion uses a magic book, end of story. So I guess that was a good decision in the long run.
As a kid, I thought Zexion was one of the coolest members in the Organization… but when I tell you I HATED this boss fight so much!!!! I nearly broke my tv a couple times because I kept losing
It's not shown in this vid, but Zexion slips a mickey (haha) into your deck. BEWARE if you see a Nobody symbol card in your deck. DO NOT play it, or Zexion will immobilize you and unload! "Aw! I feel so BAAAD!!"
I don't see why he's hard . Since he has no variety of cards on his own and since riku is already in dark form , one time dark aura can sap almost half of his health , then use dark break to bring him down . This is the only boss in riku's story where using the duel mode can screw u up and that's why I lost to him once , after that I just used riku's slieghts which made the fight one of the easiest boss in the series
I found him to be a colossal pain in the ass because he keeps stealing your cards which screws up whatever you were trying to do, such as finding a boss card to use (Jafar, Oogie Boogie) and then it just spirals out of control very quickly. So trying to play carefully or tactically results in you getting repeatedly screwed over because of the fight mechanics and then you get killed because you have no cards left. After I just started spamming cards he got a lot easier to beat, which is both a relief and annoying since it was really just hammering the x button to kill him instead of any actual skill, but at least he's dead

Since the ps2 remake originally came bundled with KH2FM+, you could say that both of these games revealed his weapon.

Pretty much all my teenage years we didn't know what his weapon was. It was a talk for a looooong time.
Also there was a Zexion fight but it was with Sora's sprite. If I recall he took on his form :P or something.

I mean, story-wise, this is supposed to be an easy fight, Riku using the darkness to win. There would be no point in him being hard, IMO.
