A Japanese-speaking friend told me that Farfetchd was a reference to a proverb which translates to ‘sometimes a duck comes along carrying a leek’. Ducks are traditionally cooked with leaks, so if a duck comes along carrying one it’s just plain convenient. The meaning of the phrase is therefore roughly akin to ‘don’t look a gift horse in the mouth’ or ‘don’t question unlooked for good fortune’.
@@SentaiYamaneko It can also mean, "there's a sucker/fool born every minute", since the duck with the leek is basically telling the human, "Please kill and eat me".
@nicholaslienandjaja1815 Ledian's design is based off of the ever popular sentai fighting shows from Japan. Power Rangers was named in the video because it is the most popular show from that genre in the West, but Kamen Rider is extremely popular in Japan and literally is centered around bug themed superheroes. So the inspiration is very evident in that regard. Orbeetle is the ladybug that is designed around extraterrestrials moreso than Ledian.
