Fantasmic was a not to be missed experience at Disneyland. Without the dragon the show isn’t worth my time. That moment when everything goes quiet and dark and suddenly two eyes appear 40 feet in the air. And then when she breathes fire and sets the river burning. It was incredible. The dragon was 20+ years old and still breathtaking. Just bring her back!
I'll die on this hill. Murphy in animatronic fire breathing firm IS Fantasmic. Her breathing fire across Rivers of America is breathtaking. You feel the heat. I hope they are working on remaking her with the same company ❤
FreshBaked. David, When Fantasmic was originaly being put together it took a year to build and train the dragon to perform nightly. The dragon could be a very stubborn and sulk if it wanted to. The Imagineers had to feed it dragon food and give plenty of hugs. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Murphy's was the third fire in, maybe, 12 months...after the castmember breakroom and the fire on the monorail. Hopefully they are refocused on prevention. Loved the decorations in the park today, but oh what a crowd. And around 11:30 they shut the Treehouse line down while they figured out where to put all those waiting. DCA seemed extra busy too.
Disneyland needs to know myself and I’m sure many others go to Disneyland and will make Fantasmic dining reservations when I go. Hungry Bear to Blue Bayou. Doesn’t matter I will pay for good seats. PLUS the show ‘sells out’ every show. It’s not something they can just close even after 31 years.
well if there's any reason to keep it going, it's THAT. dining packages. But look for the possibility where they stop giving you food and just sell you the saved seat.
My heart is full hearing this news that Fantasmic is returning to Disneyland. The song is my ringtone on my phone for when my husband calls and our son knows that song as "Daddy's song" because he has yet to see the show in person (I've shown him on TH-cam, but it's not the same). I am so happy and excited that he'll get to experience the magic of this show in person one day. 🥰
Hooray for *_Fantasmic_* coming but we hope and pray *Murphy* returns soon as well. Any news on *_Paint the Night_* or maybe *_MSEP_* returning until Fantasmic comes back in May, we need a nighttime Parade in the interim. Agreed, *_Magic Happens_* is a really good daytime parade. BTW *The Adventure Treehouse* is awesome, but some of us were hoping for interactive elements for the MagicBand+. 🤔
To see my favorite nighttime show from the Disney parks soon make a return next year after that fiery incident earlier this year, now THAT is a dream come true.
Disneyland said when the show returns it "won’t include the dragon figure, but it will feature new special effects and a thrilling new battle scene between Sorcerer Mickey and Maleficent."
Yay Fantasmic! Ya cant replace a 70 foot fire breathing dragon with anything other than a 70 foot fire breathing dragon! But The show will still be great! I too am a big fan of Mickey's Mix Magic! It's fun and doesn't jack up the rest of the park as much as more involved shows and parades. And it gets everyone dancing, all over the park! Great! Two cents delivered! FRESHBAKED!
This is more an acknowledgment of what actually keeps families in the park spending money during the later park hours than it is a change in philosophy. Having a night show simply makes more $ in the long run.
Can you discuss what's going to replace, "Tale of the Lion King" at the Fantasyland Theatre after January? Also, what's happening with the Hyperion Theatre? I really hope Disney steps up and begins creating lavish stage shows again at both Disneyland & DCA! Not only are they highly entertaining, but they're definitely "people eaters", too.
Interesting. If Murphy came back (in 2025), how would they keep the show going daily, and do construction? I have no concept of what would be needed or how much he could be assembled of site and minimal time to install.
I'm guessing the problem with Murphy was that it was made out of plastic. It seems a firework got stuck in its plastic head, and the plastic melted and caught fire, and then the flaming plastic dripped on the rest of its plastic body, and soon Murphy was a raging inferno. So, if they're bringing Murphy back, then (1) the insurance company paid on the claim and (2) they're going to make Murphy out of something that is NOT flammable. After all, I'm sure the insurance company has made that as part of any agreement to insure the new Murphy. But, even more than the news that Murphy is coming back, I'm glad nobody got hurt as far as I have heard. Murphy catching on fire was a disaster, but if nobody was hurt, it was just stuff that can be replaced.
Hi David I like all the news you share regarding the Disneryland Resort with ride show and parades. Question do you think Disney going to announce the big celebration Disneyland will be having in 2025 for there 70th Anniversary during next year Disney Expo.
"Where is Murphy? Is she safe? Is she alright?" ~Darth Vader i think idk Joke's aside, who do you think there gonna bring in for the finale now? i'd guess Chernabog, though The Horned King could make for an interesting replacement as well!
They've raised prices, World parks aren't doing so hot, and they are wrapping up some of their projects like the Tree House. If they started cutting back the show elements while raising prices, I'd expect there to be some backlash. So to stay competitive and continue to draw money in, seems like a no-brainer they would keep fireworks around and continue with popular shows. But then again, decision making with Disney as of late also qualifies as no-brainer.
I didn’t renew my pass and I’m not going back to Disneyland until Murphy is back. Or until I absolutely need to go. The dragon in Orlando is laughable compared to Murphy. How many times have I seen the magic in the eyes of kids and adults alike the first time they see that dragon appear out of nowhere. Just can’t be matched. I welcome the challenge to beat it but it must come from a place of IMAGINATION!
I have A LOT of feelings towards this show and it coming back. I grew up with this show and seeing it and eating chowder in a bread bowl while we wait. This show was magic! Was. Is it still? I haven't been to the park in years and a lot has changed. Disney World's version was closer to the original and, in my opinion by watching videos of both, was better after Disneyland updated. So how does Disney make Fantasmic at Disneyland better again? I think going back to it's roots, like they did with the tree house, is a very valid idea at this point 5:36 A puppet dragon head on a stick worked! Do I think it can be updated again? Yes, BUT don't mess with the music! Stop Mickey making "oh" "ah" and screaming noises. Bring back Peter Pan on Hook's ship. Add more princesses and villains, specifically villains that use magic against their princes 🤔 and have them actually there with Evil Queen vs just a projection. Add princesses on more boats. Most important, keep it simple and magical. Puppets and lighting go a long way. It doesn't have to be the highest tech, it just has to look good. Can't wait for Fresh Baked to cover to shows return!
I just feel like if they don’t bring the dragon back then what they invest will result in the return of people who want to see it and they might not make the money they are trying not to spend
That's so sad Murphy isn't coming back. I get it's been a source of well, Murphy entering the show, but it was truly an awe inspiring effect that had my jaw on the floor the first time I saw it. It's sad children and guests that see the show from now on will never experience that.
And you're not the type welcome at Disneyland. In some ways it is a fan service and when I take over Disney and make it great again I will be giving the purists what they want while asking "what would Walt do?" to make decisions and have a "profits last" attitude.

@3:18 Back in July 2024, timewarp lol! Fantasmic is the best show Disneyland has and I'm happy to see it come back!

Fantasmic is a top 3 show, there's no way they couldn't afford not to bring it back
I'm glad Fantasmic! is returning to Disneyland next year in May! 😀 But it won't be the same without the dragon! 😢

Great news about Fantasmic - thanks, David!!!

This is great, good video. someone once said having hope leads to happiness but doubt lead to despair

no news on PTN i'm afraid.
To see my favorite nighttime show from the Disney parks soon make a return next year after that fiery incident earlier this year, now THAT is a dream come true.
I trust the show will be great again and they'll find an eventual solution to bring Murphy back! Very exciting news!
I'm hoping for the bubbles instead of fire with the dragon.
@@toshibavoodooThat’s what I said, too. But my comment got deleted. 😂
Agreed, @@Schubacca85 and @toshibavoodoo! Even just to see David's reaction again. 🤣
Disneyland said when the show returns it "won’t include the dragon figure, but it will feature new special effects and a thrilling new battle scene between Sorcerer Mickey and Maleficent."
Right,@@WindowtotheMagic. I mean down the line, not when the show returns in the spring.
Looking forward to seeing it return. Minus the whole "exploding dragon" thing.
Murphy Bubble Wands!!!!

Thanks for the update!
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
Ah man. I was hoping to see a bubble blowing Murphy.
❤
When i think about going to Disneyland, i imagine myself at this show. It makes me sad i will probably never see it again
R.I.P. Fantasmic
Hey Fresh Baked!!
I sure hope they can fix or bring back Murphy 😢

I also am not keen on seeing the Mickey Murphy fight replaced but that’s me and my opinion
Murphy could com back but as a projector type thing
Hi David I like all the news you share regarding the Disneryland Resort with ride show and parades. Question do you think Disney going to announce the big celebration Disneyland will be having in 2025 for there 70th Anniversary during next year Disney Expo.
What does Iger mean, they never needed to be fixed at any point?
Bob Iger has the tallest collars in the game.
They will bring Murphy back I heard that it’s coming !!!
"Where is Murphy? Is she safe? Is she alright?"
~Darth Vader i think idk
Joke's aside, who do you think there gonna bring in for the finale now? i'd guess Chernabog, though The Horned King could make for an interesting replacement as well!
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo! So excited! What will be in this show? Will it be the same as before, or will it be different?
Being how cheap Disney is , there's no way Murphy is ever coming back 😢 Good Riddance Murphy

It may take time to build a new one but thr Dragon will probably return at a latter date after opening.

Saying Disneyworld's was better. At any point is one of the most blasphemous things you could of ever said.
I wish the dragon will come back to fantasmic at disneyland in 2025 or 2026
Magic Happens return would be a good thing. I hope they bring back Paint the Night some day, too. Not a fan of Mix Magic, though. Just my own opinion.
They need to continue to fix tbh, the parks are a mess
I just feel like if they don’t bring the dragon back then what they invest will result in the return of people who want to see it and they might not make the money they are trying not to spend
Murphy is Fantasmic
No Murphy, no Fantasmic
#BringBackMurphy
I don’t like mix magic
No way the dragon is coming back.

Why did Disney invest in Fantasmic? Because they want guests to stay longer in the park to eat drink and simply spend more. It’s not a fan service…
Jeez I couldn’t disagree more-I’ve seen people cry during this show lol this type of effort is never born of profit motivation alone.
And you're not the type welcome at Disneyland. In some ways it is a fan service and when I take over Disney and make it great again I will be giving the purists what they want while asking "what would Walt do?" to make decisions and have a "profits last" attitude.
