The entirety of this series with the SDF getting out of one insane situation after another like this one makes its survival in Force of Arms a real emotional point for me as a kid. Such a great scene in that on first viewing you had no idea what they were planning.

@@pendraco2000 I know I am a year late, but so what? it is not like the Macross Sequels are gold, Macross 7 is trash, I cant even stand to watch Frontier, The Macross Movie Feels rushed compared to the Series, Macross II is unrelated, DYRL throws out its own continuity out the window by including the original series into the cut. The only exception is Macross plus that was awesome. So please besides HG splicing 3 unrelated shows and making a plausible story not being ridiculous how they piss you off. Granted everything else they made after that including the Shadow Chronicles is trash. But I want to understand why all the hate?
@@levioch @Jimmy L The hate has to do with HG keeping anything Macross outside of the U.S. and generally not doing anything with the property. Just because you don't care for most of the Macross sequels doesn't make HG's shitty practices okay. Back in the early 2000s Toycom was going to import the Yamato 1/72 Macross Plus mecha. They even started pre-orders but HG found out and told them to stop. Now this was Macross Plus not SDF Macross so HG has no right to threaten lawsuits for it but they think they should get money for everything Macross.
@@Invidrule Yeah I am not a fan of HG either, but there is a saying "Dont love the company love the product" I think in this case Robotech takes a lot of flak even though it is a great show because the company behind it has dubious business practices.

The original Robotech series was a localized version of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and the only thing different from the Japanese version in this scene is the language and voices. Also, a "Macross missile massacre" is a trope referring to mecha spamming small missiles all over the place, and I would call a scene like this a Macross missile massacre even if it was in a completely different series.
You know it's funny that when they launch the Daedalus attack against that Zentradi ship for the first time you can hear the power thrumming throughout the ship as the SDF-1 launches it using the Daedalus as a gigantic battering ram and with the said aircraft carrier attached to the SDF-1's right docking arm talk about the largest mean right hook in history.

How is there no political BS involved? All the humans on the show are unified under a global government, that's the entire backstory that's pretty damn political. Then there's an episode later on there Cpt Global and Lt Hayase meet the high command and Global flat out tells the Lt 'at their rank they are more politicians than pure officers'. Like the reason Macross can't land on Earth is due to political issues (they realize the aliens are specifically attracted to that craft rather than the planetary civilization at first)

I disagree - Ulpio Minucci was an experienced composer, having done a number of popular hits from the 1950s, and was also an Emmy nominee. I think his Robotech theme score was pure genius, and even artists who worked on the original Macross agree.
