I've officially started crabbing again this season! I have to finish up the FV Southern Girl, my crabbing trailer, and get my crab pots over to the marina to load up on the boat. The crab stand is done and opening this Saturday for the first time. It's been weeks of prep and we're finally throwing crab pots in the water!

Have you ever thought about using a rake on the side of the boat to grab the pots? Basically you ride past the float, the rake grabs the line and pullls it up, much less work, and man power.

Luke you need to do your shirts/apparel with DTF yourself and not preorder a ton from Cali. If you’re interested let me know, I’ll tell you how to do it yourself and pocket all the extra income…seriously…could be as much as $5-10 per shirt in your cost.

My entire family loves Roman Atwood…specifically his vlogs now…we got involved in his channel and lifestyle now, like yourself, we want to see his day to day and “behind the scenes”. Our family also really enjoys Sailing Zatara (and their kids channels), Desperado Ranch (Matt Carriker) and Bar 7 ranch. We just love to see and support hard working families doing what they love. I will tell you that as I was referencing above, once we love you we will watch anything you do to support you…I would imagine that’s the same for most YT watchers.

But as a painting contractor in the trades for 30+ years, I enjoy watching people like you. I like to see the ups and downs of doing your best and see what comes of it. Congrats on your success and hope the crab shack works out great for you and your wife's future.

Luke, it's great seeing a young man build his business and grafting like hell to build something to provide for his family. You give us older generations hope that it won't all go to hell. Keep at it and plenty of us tune in just to see you pushing on through to get it done.

Crab stand is looking great! You should put some type of gutter (maybe J channel roof edging) on the customer side roof edge. In a rain storm its not going to be pleasant for you or the customers with a water fall to do business through.

48:42 Luke! Don't bend over to drag the crab pots.
Make a hook with a T handle to drag the crab pots across the floor!
Make it Y shaped on the other end, so you can hook two places on the pot and spread the load and not stretch the wire cage.
At the milk processing plant, we used T handled hooks (approx. 36 inches long, 1/2" diameter with 3/4 inch black pipe T handle) to drag cases of milk stacked 6 high across the cooler floor and trailer floor.

    • @phonedave

    • @Brian-mp2mv
      @Brian-mp2mv 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

@@phonedave Only way to move milk, if it's not palletized. In the cooler, the floors were diamond plate steel, and with practice... you could drag the stack off the conveyor, spin and sling the 6 case stack 20 foot to its resting area. (in the winter time, we'd be on the back dock, and go into the cooler to get warm!😮)
Good times, good memories... but I sure was glad when I came out of the cooler and became a pasteurization operator.

Luke, an idea for future transome access: Make the top portion hinge on the side (like the access into a bar) and hinge the rear panel to fold down/outside (if you beef it up, you could walk up it). Also, you really need to dress up your roof line with a drip edge (like 1x6 plastic wood) to keep the water from wickin under & into your plywood.

Luke that boat stand is sweet man. I think you should definitely extend the counter all the way down not to the bow but to the doorway of the cabin. Can't go wrong with plenty of counter space, Then once you have the counters built you should build up a little form around the counters and just pour some clearcoat polyurethane as a countertop you can put cool stuff in there before you pour the polyurethane like hooks and fishing stuff. Heck You probably could even take some big number one males set them on the counter and then pour the clearcoat polyurethane in on top of them. I don't know how that would actually work but you could always get some fake realistic toy crabs and do the same thing

Do you know if the water is swimmable at the inner harbor in Baltimore? It was on the news but I don't believe it. The mayor is supposed to take a dip next month

Dude you need to start including Linsy in more of your videos. She is the sweetest. When you caught that one 1⃣ you definitely got a keeper. You would capture more subscribers than little. Not only is she the cutest but the attitude is great. I got a kick out of the two of you on the boat and you talking about moving to Florida and her reply was to drop anchor and welcome home. Love the videos and the best luck to your marriage and happiness.

My dad and I (sportsmen licenses) set 2 commercial pots each in various parts of Egg Harbor Bay, or Mullica River, NJ.. We go for the rustiest crabs we can catch from May through November. The more rust, the better. Educate your customers on that. More meat! Your content is hilarious. We wish you the best of prosperity this season.

Deboss Garage is King, Millenial Farmer and Vice Grip Garage are amazing, Zip Ties and Bias Plies is pure Albertan gold, AVE is the best BC creator, and Muskoka Freerider is by far rhe best snowmobile content on the internet right now 👍 That said, theres something your channel brings to the table thats so classic American that a guy doesnt want to miss an episode, keep up the good work (and if you ever need a hand on that boat just let me know, I’d pack up some tools and fly down from Canada to come crabbin anytime 🤘)

Oh! One more thing; you talked about getting up and having a long list of to-dos Set as did 15 minutes at the same time every morning for “planning and solitude.” Sit in a quiet spot, preferably with a place to write…
Get a book on time management. They are usually short books.
Keep up the good work. You will do great things in your life.

I watch mainly because I can relate to each of them in one way or another. You remind me of myself when I was younger, work yourself to death and always have a positive attitude.
