    ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I get it now, this is like a Turing Machine on a highway system that can return to the mainline any time, this is pretty damn cool.

      Suuuuper fast. Turn one knob and bam your rhythm “advanced”. it’s the best in paradise ;)

    • @Braunld
      @Braunld 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is it immediate though? I keep reading reports about how there are a load of button combos, press-and-turn, shift + press, etc. Is it quick and easy to learn, or is it somewhat complicated?

    • @rdean150
      @rdean150 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Braunld From the manual i got the impression that it becomes complex if you want to get it to do something specific, and the minimal interface gives little visual feedback. But it seems to heavily reward semi-random knob wiggling, and I guess is smart enough to make any arbitrary change end up doing something musically interesting.

    • @RickyTinez
      @RickyTinez  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Braunld i found it beyond immediate, i didn't press a single button and a sequnce was going. if you want to do some deeper level editing like gate legnths and ties it might be a button combo, but most sequencers are like that.
      Sure it's not a metropolis but i think with all the other fun exploratory options it eassillyy makes up for it!
      Thanks for watching Braunld

    k but why is it $329 like a korg SQ-1 is like $80 why is when a module put's out CV and/or gate info we loose our collective minds like it's never been done before and pay 4-5 times more for far less.

  • @1dkappe
    @1dkappe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Reminds me a bit of Euclidean rhythms with multiple prime number sequence lengths shifting against each other. Usually I put a simple 4/4 underneath it all. It’s repetitive but not at the same time. Very cool stuff, Ricky. This is the first thing that tempts me to get into modular.

  • @rdean150
    @rdean150 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I read the manual on this a couple weeks ago. It has some pretty impressive potential, but seems like one of those modules where you have to relinquish control to the device in terms of the melodic pattern due to the minimal LED-based interface and destructive nature of its evolutions. But it admittedly does seem to strike a nice middle ground between full random generative patching (which many Eurorack musicians embrace) and note-by-note specifically transcribed sequencing that control freaks like me tend to prefer. And as I'm now hearing from your patch, it does indeed make nice musical variety just a couple knob turns away, which is important and not as easy as it may seem... so... yeah I'm interested.

    A bit late to the party- I’ve only been properly modular for six months or so, and I’ve had Bloom for 24hrs. But of all the Bloom vids I’ve seen on YT this is the most ‘I want to play with this thing RIGHT NOW’ that I’ve seen. If I weren’t already subbed, I’d do so…

  • @offthisworld

    Back then yes, these days no. No outputs. No real 'ratchets' but simple note repeats, that need a clock down to get faster. No firmware updates. Silly excuses for that (board, chips) Mind you, these days the thing is -new- still around 400 euros. Completely ridiculous, Qubit !! --- see how videos get dated fast ?

    Ricky, I have no idea how that module works, but it sounds freakin awesome. But of course "it" doesn't sound like anything, right, it's a sequencer that is triggering synth modules? So in theory, could you use it to just trigger anything, a fat Moog for example? But seriously, that particular combination of modules you got going there sounds like both a powerful studio tool plus a great live instrument. Can I make a request? How about uploading a half hour video of just a live studio set with that set-up. So, no need to explain or talk us through what you're doing, just 30 mins of bonkers house invention. Bring da funk.

      Run away! It's more addictive than heroin and will consume your life!
      Ok, now that you've seen my disclaimer: check out Molten Music's series on modular synthesis. He basically films himself in your exact shoes: he doesn't quite know where to begin and is in the research phase, all the way through to buying his first modules, installing them, the theory behind them, everything. Definitely a priceless resource for a newbie.
      (th-cam.com/video/Mkr97N4jMEE/w-d-xo.html)
      Then download VCVRack. It's a computer program that emulates a modular synth. There are free versions of some real, physical modules, like those from Mutable Instruments and other popular Eurorack companies.
      Since Eurorack is a very expensive hobby, it's better to start with the free program to ease your way into it. It will take some time to get used to how it works, so just watch more videos (@OmriCohen makes some amazing videos specifically for VCV Rack, th-cam.com/channels/uWKHSHTHMV_nVSeNH4gYAg.htmlvideos)
      @RickyTinez (obviously) @DivKid & @MylarMelodies are great resources, too.

  • @mntbighker
    @mntbighker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, I just got my Bloom. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the major weakness in Bloom is the controls on the left are channel local. But the controls on the right are global. So If you change the mutation, branches or path, no matter what channel you are on, you are changing both channels. This seems like a glaring obvious oversight. If those controls were encoders (not pots), and channel local, you would have a much more capable two channel sequencer. Or am I missing something? Even if the pot doesn't affect the other channel (which I assume it does immediately), the pot location will be different as soon as you switch to the other channel. And any CV modulation of those things will affect both channels. Not just the one selected while the modulation is applied.

  • @NateHorn
    @NateHorn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brilliant demo Ricky - only thing I'm left intrigued about is how it works with both channels but it seems like a real aleternative to Marbles which I've struggled to get on with personally.

    Hey Ricky - maybe you know this, but just thought I'd say - you can CV the EchoSystem. Only one CV port, but can be assigned to multiple parameters simultaneously. Genius pedal :) (btw, I did try CV gate syncing it too, but that is kind of glitchy - it sort of works, but not quite. it is expecting tap tempo from a pedal, not CV gate, so I guess it freaks it out a bit)

But, there’s an issue I’m having when I divide the time division, when I divide the sequence by 8 or even 4 the reset Lags, when I hit reset manually or send cv to it, it still lags which causes everything to be offbeat, it resets perfectly when I leave it at its normal rate or I multiplied the timing but NOT when I start to divide it. Have you came across this same issue. and I also updated the firmware and everything and still no fix. Any help would be great Thanks!

      Hmm I believe that's a common problem with clocks. I remember reading a lot about that in various forums and such. Cant remember why. Ultimately it boils down to what all your gear is outputting and what its looking for. I know Chris from learning modular touched on this in detail about a Pams and a Euclidian Circles. Let me know how it goes. Ive been considering this module myself.

      Shift notes allows you to enter a per step editor for things like gate time as well as slew. Otherwise it applies those to everything.
