    Those last few minutes where you compared it to the Morphagene really put some pieces together for me that I hadn’t heard from anyone else. Thanks very much!

      Yea it took me a while to admit that I didn’t gel with Morphagene. The new qubit stardust modules looks interesting tho!

    Just got a Data Bender and using it with a 4ms STS. Your comment at 16:25 is EXACTLY why I have just sold my Morphagene! Awesome video!

    Great great demonstration- love how you take your time walking through each function. It now gives me clarity in using cv controls to really make this thing shine. Redmeans recording has a decent demo as well but something about him that doesn’t resonate with me-talented guy though. I’ve had the module for over a year and never used it-truth be told this is my 2nd one as i had one before but sold it lol. You convinced me to keep it, Thanks!

      Thanks! I feel like it’s very good at a few things, and for that reason I don’t see myself ever selling it. Tho I understand when GAS kicks in that everything can potentially be sold lol.

    Great demo, man! I really like how you showcased it and overall musical wibe. I'm actually waiting for my Data Bender to be delivered and had doubts but your video reinforced my interest. I'm planning to use it and Morphagene (which i recently got) to kinda achieve that timed recording you can get by sequencing morphagene or run loops on it, and use Data Bender to wreck things up even more.

    You think this is useful for more basic elements like modulating cutoff, resonance, wave folding, etc? To me it seems more suited for end of chain processing of fully formed rhythmic compositions

    This looks fucking mental, I'm ordering mine this week.
    @ about 15.40, you say "You can cv this. I don't know exactly how you would, but you can." First thing I thought was to mult a clock signal, one into DB, and one into an lfo. Then, mult that lfo, one copy into DB bend, and one copy into the filter cutoff. As the pitch of the bend increases, the filter opens, and as the pitch decreases, the filter closes. Maybe run both those lfo's through an attenuverter first, resulting in the filter closing as the pitch increases, and opening as it decreases. Sounds counter-intuitive in my head, but hey, that's the fun part of modular. Make it do things wrong deliberately just to see where it goes.
    Mine will go right in the middle of the lower dedicated drum rack, with the intention of being used as a permanent drum mangler. I have Beads in the upper rack (a Rackbrute 6U which is a 100% MI case) so I'll use that for all the voices, while DB is pretty much just for drums and samples. At the moment, Maths is there, but it will be relocated to the 3rd case when DB arrives.
    BTW - Last time I spoke to you, I asked you what you thought about Beads into Rings. Did you end up trying that? If so, I'd love to hear where you take it. Your patches are always mental and unique.

    Super late reply…. Data bender def cool. Just wondering if you’ve ever had the chance to try ALMs MFX and use the Bit Crusher mode. I’m wondering if this is giving essentially the same as Data bender but in only 6hp

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally I found the bit commander algo quite difficult to use, and definitely not as smooth or fun as the data bender :)

    Great video ;-) I'm back again for another crack at Data Bender. Nope, I can't seem to get anything this musical out of it. Doing some simple Arp going in, as you are. Have it clocked from DAW. Just sounds a big old mess! :-/

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! :) That is really bizarre tho, I find that it sounds good effortlessly. Is the clock led flashing white or blue? When you hit freeze is it looping in time with your bpm? You can try that with the bend and break knobs all the way down to test it. Also are you in the pitch mode (green led) or glitch mode? (Blue led).

  • @eddrupz1805
    @eddrupz1805 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm about to start building a semi-modular setup to work with my DAW/VSTs. I'm wondering if I would need data bender if I already have VSTs/M4L that do something similar. Anyone familiar with ChrisGlitch and Nedfx? Would that pretty much cover data bender's abilities? So far, it looks like data bender has a cool saturation/bitreducer that would be unique.

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never heard of ChrisGlitch or NedFX but will check them out - can never have too many glitch effects. I think it depends what you want your modular to be/do?

  • @filipliekens351

    how would it do as a looper for some electro acoustic and voice loops?

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it works kinda more like a beat slicer than a looper. I used to have the DLD from 4MS and it worked kinda well as a looper. I think the looper from Boss is the ultimate looping device on the market at the moment. Seems crazy good!
