Great to hear from a fellow alum! I started at NAU but finished at UA so I sometimes call myself a ‘lumberCat’ or a ‘wildJack’….haha. But I do love my cats! Even if we are challenged when the pressure is on😂 And I hear you on the elevation issues. My mother in law has had pretty bad asthma for years and the elevation can get to her at times. But luckily AZ has the other gem, which is low desert during the winter which we may do another camping video on. Show the beauty of our lower, Saguaro desert landscapes!
Thank you Ted! We have been very blessed with such a wonderful family and it’s pretty awesome that Marley has camped with her great grandparents every year of her life so far. It won’t last forever but is really special that she does get to for now at least!
It sure is! Does my soul a lot of good when we go…. And when we do, we try to go in areas with limited or no cell service which keeps us off our phones and focused and family and fun😊
Being a Daddy and PaPa with a big heart towards little girls as far as the pony’s concerned. It would go something like this. “Papa I want a pony” Me” how big and what color”
Well, I would be happy to shake your hand as well! I actually met a couple viewers when I was at the Big Lake marina/bait shop on this trip. If you ever see me… say hi, I’m always happy to chat. Also, with these crazy times I do want to plan some get togethers at some point. If nothing more than to meet some folks and give the opportunity for other local like minded folks to meet each other as well. Which I think is super important in this crazy world of ours. Stay tuned!
Thank you! It’s been a super fun project that I’m still not done with 🤦♂️😂. Gonna be an awning build and outdoor shower setup coming later this year😀👍

Considering the amount of cautious quarantining done this year I think most of your subscribers probably got a spiritual uplift. I sure did. Haha…. That is the truth. “Weeeell sweetie, there’s just a lot to think about… feed costs… fencing… vet bills…… oh hey, do you want to go get ice cream?” 😂
Great video Joe! There is nothing like the great outdoors, enjoying mother nature! You are well prepared for anything and everything. You have everything compartmentalize. I admit I am not a big fan of Ryobi tools because of a bad experience with their chainsaws. I love your channel, please keep up the great work!
Thank you for joining along John! We sure do love our camping trips! And I’m hoping to do some more unique kinds trips this winter that show off some of the landscape that AZ is more known for. Stay tuned!

Thanks for checking it out Daniel! Believe it or not I still have to get the awning and the outdoor shower done…. But then it will be officially finished!
Thank you John! We sure enjoy our camping trips. Out in nature and out of cell service is our recipe for relaxation! And a May God bless you and your family as well John!
Thank you for sharing your vacation. Marley has grown so big. Your horse videos remind me of Beverly Doolittle, painter and artist. A thought for your wood splitting; when I bought new tires for our lawn tractor, they gave me one of the old 12” tires. I use it for splitting firewood and keeping split pieces together on the stump as i make multiple splits. Great recap of the tool accessories. Wishing you and your family a blessed week. Safe travels. Peace brother.
Wasaaaabi! I thought it was a joke when I first saw someone mention them and then I saw pretty good reviews too! Not as long lasting as the canon ones. But the price is SO much better. 2 for under$20 or 1 for $50 from canon🤮😂
Had a big ol smile watching this vid. Love the white mountains, been fishing, camping and golfing up there. LOL Go CATS too! haha Niece just started there. Looking forward to the next vid. Best wishes to the fam.
We spent the weekend camping near Prescott where we had beautiful weather and got to see tarantulas in the wild for the first time after living 25 years in AZ. Plenty of scorpions at home, but no tarantulas.
The Prescott area is great! Great combo of southern climate but still four seasons. We tend to see tarantulas quite often at my house…. But perhaps it’s an elevation thing as we are at 4000’ elevation and I think Prescott is like maybe 5500’ or so.
Love seeing the camping videos. That area all around Springerville is gorgeous. I love the desert but being a Georgia boy for most of my life, I still like to see the tall pines now and then. Oh, and I call 'em Crawdads!
The best way for family bonding together with nature and the great outdoors has many things to offer, your daughter will surely learn a lot from you.unlike here in philippines the most kids always are in front of them cellphones rotting them brains playing and not using wisely...TC always sir!
Thank you Warren! We enjoy camping in areas with limited or no cell service for just that reason…. Disconnection from the world…. If just for a short time😊👍. As for kids on phones…. Don’t worry kids here are just the same. But my wife and I limit our daughters screen time heavily, especially in these younger years when their brains are still developing so much. Great to hear from 🇵🇭 😀👍
My dad always caught fish and my mom would cook them. Boy that’s a sweet setup! I miss camping with my kids. Awesome products! Planning on doing a lot of camp trips after our house is done. 🥰👍 I say crawfish like you do. I’m from the south!
No Apologies Joe thanks for sharing with us the beautiful nature out there in AZ, for sure its going to be in my bucket list to road trip and camp out in those white mountains that I've heard a lot about,
On the inflator, you can add a standard Tire Valve Air Chuck Car Tyre Quick Release Adapter. A lot quicker than threading on the connector each time you use it... I did that to mines and it's a big time saver.
When I was a kid, we called 'em 'crawdads', and we had no traps, so we'd be lucky to catch one each by hand! So I wouldn't call that haul pathetic at all. Good fish catch, too; I bet that was a nice dinner. I know you intend to put an awning on the trailer, but honestly, I love the way the portable one looks. It's a constant height, sets up easily, and can be moved wherever you want. When not cooking, you could move it to block the sun or rain as needed. Wish we had those things for the family camp sites when I was a kid.
Another great video. That looked like an incredible vacation. I thank you for taking the time to share whatever you could. Abbie seems to think that the world revolves around you and your daughter. Crawfish, crayfish, crawdads, mud bugs… whatever you call them I didn’t see anyone suck the head. First time I ever ate them I thought folks were messing with me about that. Thanks again for sharing and what father let’s their daughter pet a horse/pony and not expect the ‘can we get one’ comment. Thanks Ryobi!
Thank you Thomas! We enjoy our camping trips immensely! And to your question, I do suck the heads on some. Not as much as I did when I was a kid… back then we ate them whenever they were in season versus just a couple times a year like now. But I hesitate to do it in camera for risk of folks thinking me ‘too’ backwoods…. As if they couldn’t already tell a bit😂 And yes… the pony question is so common right now. I’ve compromised and told her we can get goats instead. So look for that to be a future ‘project’…. Fencing, shelter, play structures, feeders,…. It’s all up my alley🤪
I've never commented, but I would like to say I've enjoyed your channel about 3+ years, and the demeanor in which you present your videos. Also it has been available on Roku, but haven't accessed it that way in a long time. @ 10:18, "I gar-awn-tee". Justin Wilson if ya'll know who that is.
@@homesteadonomics its one of the oldest candies made..in turkey. Its very good. It comes in squares and coated with a powder to keep it from sticking. Also it was in the lord of the rings or the hobbit or something like that. It is easy to make yourself too. You will love it lol
Awesome camp trip Joe, I love the "camp golf", the greens keeper must be horsing around!! Here's a Ryobi commercial for you, i just bought a 7.25" compound miter saw, it will be my light duty unit. My big job setup, a Bosche weights a ton! 🥴 🎣⛺🛶
Eel that’s awesome! I’ve put mine through quite a bit of work so far and it’s still going strong. It does lack the depth of cut in thicker things like 4x4’s with compound cuts, but it is perfect on everything else!
Love this kind of content Joe. Love seeing your family adventures, and seeing the beautiful sights and sounds in your neck of the woods. 😉 I sure hope I make it to Arizona one day. Loved seeing Marley with those horses. Fills my heart right up. Ive never caught crawdads but looks fun! Love outside adventures. I’ve been going on trail walks around my area. Thanks for all the inspiration! ❤️🙏🏼
Joe, when can we expect the video of you building a horse stable for Marley and her new horse/pony? Great video of camp-life. Nothing refreshes my wife and I like a good camping trip.
@@homesteadonomics Goats will be a great addition to the homestead. Greatly enjoy your channel, Joe...you're a top-shelf guy with attention to detail, high quality work, and a great family man.
I love this it reminds me of my childhood. Every summer when I was a kid we went on a family camp (my mums side of the family) my cousins, aunts and uncles and my nan and pap. Most of them have gone now or off doing their own thing. But good memories to make and keep. Im 46 now and I still live in my home town in the UK I sometimes go to the old places I went with my family but its not the same.
Yes, I thinking camping trips are just a good way to rejuvenate the soul. Most often we do family camping trips like this but occasionally I do solo trips as well. Basically anytime I can get out in nature out of cell range then it’s good😊
Only thing I liked about AZ. Eating crawfish in the White Mountains. Using hot dogs wrapped in lady hose and a string. They just grab right on and we threw them in the bucket to purge. While grandma cooked the trout in a cast iron pan. P.s. I almost dropped my phone trying to catch that baby trout
Great video - thanks for sharing such awesome adventures with all of us. Marley sure is a mature young lady and a great presenter, especially adding her fishing tip about why she was crouched down. Does your wife ever make rose hip jelly? I've only used them for tea so far but I've been told it's another good use. I was thinking it'd be nice if Ryobi made a lantern, after you showed the spotlight - and then you showed one. Sweet! Gonna have to check out their site more. We're going to start getting the boy some Ryobi tools for holidays/birthdays so he has a good start on a shop when he's older. All thanks to your videos (wait, my wallet might not thank you). I will say, no apologies necessary. I'm sure I'm not the only one who enjoyed a much-needed break thanks to this beautiful scenery and fun activities.
I appreciate that! 😀🙏 There are a lot of good, honest, genuine folks here….but most of the people you see on TV are politicians, celebrities or other elites that do not represent the average working American very well at all.
Um -- can I be adopted, please? I want to go on one of these camping trips....:) Growing up in MT, we called them crawfish or crawdads. And even tho my brother told me not to, kid sister decided to see how strong their claws were and I stuck my finger between a set of pinchers.... and it hurt like a big dog! They are strong! Great video, thanks. Really enjoy your channel.
Yes they are strong for sure! When I was a kid I remembered them waaay bigger in Louisiana than they are out here in AZ. But it also could just be that kids size perspective kinda thing🤷♂️😂
Hi! I love your videos! Where do I get a hitch lock for my little camper like you have? I didn’t see it listed with the other tools you featured in this video. Also, could you sometimes show tools that would be good for single women to have on camping trips? I am thinking I should get that tire inflator…thanks!
Thanks for taking us along, fun trip, videos continueto get better. Do you have an inverter hooked up to your truck for charging or simply running 120v ?
It’s all run off the solar and 12v lithium battery. I don’t have a 120v hook up yet as we usually camp in primitive spots…. But eventually I plan to add that for road trips where we may stop in campgrounds.
I'm kinda curious where in the white mountains this was filmed at. I moved up here about 4 years ago but I don't get out much. I love your video on your water storage setup by the the way, it's given me a lot of good ideas on what to do out on my property.
It’s working out well so far. Camped maybe 10+ times in it…. Combined maybe 35-50 days in it. But I still have projects coming up for it. A diy awning and an outdoor shower setup. Stay tuned!
No winch, but I do have a come-a-long that you can see when I’m showing the truck box at the end. It’s kinda tucked on the back side of the box under the flipped up seat. Maybe only a few seconds of it… but it’s there😀👍
I hear ya….their is always risk with batteries. If you check out my file cabinet workbench that I did for my shipping container shop….I specially mentioned that I store the batteries in the metal cabinets for fire hazard risk. Thanks for check out the video😊🙏
Hail storm when I was building it…. Got my house roof, greenhouse, shop, and a lot of other things. Golf ball sized hail😬. I figured it was a badge of honor for the trailer 🤣
It’s the national forest. We camp off of forest roads in ‘primitive spots’. No official campground or anything like that. Too many people in most campgrounds for my liking😉 Thanks for watching and great to hear from Australia! 😀👍
@@homesteadonomics Ha, yes. It's the same here (too busy in even remote campsites), which is why I asked. Bit jealous of the location (stream with fish, forest and ability to camp). Hard to find in my area (or maybe I haven't looked hard enough)! Love the caravan. I may need to build one as well. The cost of them has doubled over the COVID period here.
What a breath of fresh air. I'm living vicariously through you as I'm still not able to hit the road. Thanks.
Thanks for joining along on our trip Mike!

Awesome camp trip Joe, I love the "camp golf", the greens keeper must be horsing around!! Here's a Ryobi commercial for you, i just bought a 7.25" compound miter saw, it will be my light duty unit. My big job setup, a Bosche weights a ton! 🥴
🎣⛺🛶
Great video! It looks like your family had a great trip.
Thank you! We always do have a great time in the mountains while camping😊🙏
Joe, when can we expect the video of you building a horse stable for Marley and her new horse/pony? Great video of camp-life. Nothing refreshes my wife and I like a good camping trip.
No horse stable…haha…..BUT her mom and I may be compromising on getting goats. So a goat barn, fencing, etc will be coming for sure!
@@homesteadonomics Goats will be a great addition to the homestead. Greatly enjoy your channel, Joe...you're a top-shelf guy with attention to detail, high quality work, and a great family man.
What a great getaway.
It always is! Thanks for checking it out!
Basically anytime I can get out in nature out of cell range then it’s good😊
Awesome video, thanks for sharing! See any sasquatches out there?
No Sasquatch’s seen…. Except for me when I was eating those crawfish😂
매우 행복해 보이네요 꼬마숙녀도 너무 귀엽고 평화로운 산과 계곡과 강
Thank you so much!!!!😊🙏
Nice camping and content Joe 👍!
Thank you Lebron!
That looks really nice
Thanks!
Crawfish is really good eating
They sure are!!
Dude, i love all the stuff you've been doing and im a Ryobi guy myself, need to get out in the wild myself!
A fun break from the homestead.
Thanks for checking it out and great to hear from the down under!
So nice there...I miss camping out :)
It’s one of our favorite things! And being that we camp in area with no cell service it makes for an even better soul recharge too!
Yep, hotdogs will get them coming for sure! Never heard about the hose… but interesting for sure!
Great video‼️
Thank you Jim!
Beautiful campsite - I could use a little outdoor R&R like that.
It sure does the soul good! 😀👍
White mountains have always been one of my families favorites camping spots. Unfortunately Arizona isn't known for the crayfish
Yes we do love our yearly camping trips up there!
I've collected rosehips in a mild winter and steeped them to alleviate cold symptoms. They are really high in vitamin C.
I'm in Oklahoma and I've always called them crawdads.
Crawdads is also what we call them as well. Just never ‘crayfish’😂
Мужик ты крут смотрю давно твои видео Америка ещё не вся испорченная.
I appreciate that! 😀🙏 There are a lot of good, honest, genuine folks here….but most of the people you see on TV are politicians, celebrities or other elites that do not represent the average working American very well at all.
In North Carolina as a kid we them "craw'daddys"
Craw’daddys work too! I just can’t call them crayfish🤣
You. Are. My. Hero.
I’m #2!! (the good one) 😂👍🏻💪🏻
Um -- can I be adopted, please? I want to go on one of these camping trips....:)
Growing up in MT, we called them crawfish or crawdads.
I made it…. Here is a link to my build of it😀👍
th-cam.com/video/QJSMwwfub2Q/w-d-xo.html
Mmmm.... I could go for a mess of mudbugs!!! :-)
Minnow traps for crawfish. That works.
Yayyyy, camping.
🏕 😊
Crawfish for me in Alabama!! ha
Me too! As an original Louisiana boy!
@@homesteadonomics yes. I forgot about the solar, hopefully that is all working well.
I'm kinda curious where in the white mountains this was filmed at. I moved up here about 4 years ago but I don't get out much. I love your video on your water storage setup by the the way, it's given me a lot of good ideas on what to do out on my property.
How is the trailer working out. Is there some more things that you have thought up on what would be good changes?
It’s working out well so far. Camped maybe 10+ times in it…. Combined maybe 35-50 days in it.
But I still have projects coming up for it. A diy awning and an outdoor shower setup. Stay tuned!
❤
Looks like 3rd for me
Great video buddy! Do love your trailer! Question: you have a winch for your truck incase you get stuck? Just wondering
No winch, but I do have a come-a-long that you can see when I’m showing the truck box at the end. It’s kinda tucked on the back side of the box under the flipped up seat. Maybe only a few seconds of it… but it’s there😀👍
@@homesteadonomics very cool buddy!
I call them the poor mans lobster
Yes indeed!
What do you do with leftover wood? If you don't need all the firewood you choped up
Usually just leave it for the next person…. Kind of a nice way to have them start their trip😊
Not singling ryobi but I'd only store lithium batteries in metal.
I hear ya….their is always risk with batteries. If you check out my file cabinet workbench that I did for my shipping container shop….I specially mentioned that I store the batteries in the metal cabinets for fire hazard risk. Thanks for check out the video😊🙏
0:04 how did you get that texture on the trailer. To soon? Damn mother nature.
Hail storm when I was building it…. Got my house roof, greenhouse, shop, and a lot of other things. Golf ball sized hail😬. I figured it was a badge of honor for the trailer 🤣
Is this place where you are camping a type of campground or someone's property? Thumbs up from Australia.
It’s the national forest. We camp off of forest roads in ‘primitive spots’. No official campground or anything like that. Too many people in most campgrounds for my liking😉
Thanks for watching and great to hear from Australia!
❤️👍👍👍
