I was employed for 3 years as a lead AK quality inspector for PSA. The bump in quality was part of my effort as I started at the beginning of the gen 3 rifles. The lack of quality in the AR line is due mostly to the volume and low quality technicians. Parts for the most part are good… just looser tolerances.
When I left in 2022 they were not, it’s possible they have changed… but it was an up hill battle to get anyone to use a torque wrench on the floor. Numbers were incentivized over quality. The AKs are good because of the testing and troubleshooting to make them work, the ARs they stack and produce.
PSA was recommended to me by my local FFL. Which so happens to be a shop that caters to our local PD. PSA is a blessing to US citizens. Best entry level AR company hands down.
Ive owned many psa products. Stack em cheap, stack em deep. I support them because they are trying to get a firearm in every Americans hand. I agree 100 percent, psa lower ans bcm upper
I got a PSA classic upper from PSA for $179 and dropped their 85$ bolt carrier in it. I’ve got closer to the 500 round mark and so far only issue I had was monarch .223. I’ve fed it mostly Winchester m193 55gr and it loves that stuff. Sure it’s a cheap rifle but for plinking and being my first AR I think it was a good choice.
@fullfoice my assumption is slightly under powdered ammunition causing the bolt to only come back maybe 85% of the way and not going into battery with the next round
Man I have both PSA and BCA uppers and lowers.. I honestly can’t tell the difference between the two. Never had an issue with BCA. I’ve gotten a 300 BLK, 5.56 and 7.62 uppers. All work great. I also head the opposite that if you have any issues BCA will swap things out. I haven’t had to deal with their customer support though

I got into parting up AR's around 2010. PSA was one of the better kept secrets during that time. They were starting to sell lower end parts from a supplier called PTAC. After awhile they stopped using the PTAC name and my guess is their budget line is still made by that group.
Good video. PSA has multiple grades of guns, their premium grade stuff is a great deal quality/price . Had an 18” with a 1-6x that could ding a trash can lid at 600m all day long with milspec green tips. If you are on the fence about buying an AR type rifle , get a psa. I always have been a fan of buying the best upper you can afford with a good BCG and buy a cheap lower. Buy a reputable LPK and spend the money on a decent trigger. Tons of options out there for about $100(alg, hiperfire, larue, etc). Realistically you can build a solid lower for $250 or so depending on furniture.
Excellent video. People will look down on PSA. The reality is, most people don't shoot often and at best, just shoot paper. I have quite a few PSA firearms. I reload and seriously use my rifles and pistols. Thousands of rounds have gone through my PSA's and have not had any issues. I shoot weekly and shoot paper. For me, I don't see a reason for a Daniel rifle. They all shoot 555/300 blackout. Get what you want and enjoy it. Again, great video.
My first rifle was a PSA. Shot a few hundred rounds through it and fell in love with the platform. Upgraded to a Daniel Defense about a year later. I still have my PSA my wife likes to shoot it. Never had an issue so far.
I love psa. I got a bear creek upper in 6.5 Grendel before the ammo doubled in price and put it on a psa lower. The first two mags the extractor broke. I called them and they sent another one but I ordered one from another company by then and I’m glad I did. By 75 rounds the upper almost fell apart in my hands. Every screw and bolt was loose. The barrel nut even backed out. After the ammo jump I swapped barrels to 762x39 from another company and love the gun now. I really like the side charging. So if anyone buys from them go over the entire gun and loctite every screw and replace the firing pin and extractor from a reputable company and you’ll be fine. Psa I only had one hiccup with a tiny burr on the trigger group not letting it reset but it was fixed in seconds. I love their company and motto and will continue to buy from them. I just wish they made side chargers like bca so I wouldn’t have to give them business
Did you see the interview with the CEO of PSA I think it was at Shot Show recently where he talked about some of the issues that people claim they have with his firearms? He talked about why they're so inexpensive and his first point was that they sell direct the customers they don't sell the suppliers and middlemen which means they don't have to do markups to cover that end of it and his second point was that every other gun manufacturer is charging too much for firearms which is a saturated Market. With modern processes and lean manufacturing and everything else it is kind of unbelievable that everyone still gets away with selling $2,000 ARS that are all made with the same CNC practices in the same quality control throughout the industry. Also I've seen people knock some of the parts that they have in their guns especially some of the rifling and the gas systems and honestly I don't know if they're serious issues with the gas impingement or the semi gas impingement whatever it's called but I do know that fabrique nationale makes their barrels and has made them since the beginning. Dial so the people that are claiming those issues in the past that I've heard talk about it never seemed to bring up that fact and I find it a little hard to believe that FN makes barrels that are somehow shittier for a company like PSA when they're making them for their own weapons and they're perfectly acceptable top grade tier one weapon systems that militaries use although I'm sure they're not made to military spec the ones they sell to companies like PSA but they can't be that much different can they? Mil-spec just means different specifications it doesn't mean Super Parts on super guns so I don't know where some people get off talking about this s*** when they're not even rationalizing or reasoning out what it is that they are saying. I'm not saying you're doing that I appreciate your video and your opinion and your critique but there's some problems that are perceived with that company that have some interesting information that always seems to conveniently get left out. That's weird how people would leave information out of arguments to change the whole context and the pressure points or strengths of the argument to convince people of things that may not be true in all information is considered together. Weird how that happens.
Just gotta knock ya down a peg halfway through the read, but the FN barrels are only in their top tier barrel lines, their cold hammer forged line of rifles. Essentially, 85% of their barrels are just non chf nitride/phosphate I beleive made in house. Good stuff IMO...but yes you pay for the FN for sure.
Psa is cheap because they lack a qc department and build quality. Enough of the middle man argument when you don’t have any idea what your talking about. It’s tiring and moronic
@HatsuneM1ku01 QC us the issue psa is known for, but you also have to accept that they have been made well aware of that AND they have made drastic bounds forward in qc since then. They have gotten better, to say otherwise is to be misinformed or a psa hater. That being Said, it would also be unrealistic to say that they have zero qc issues since their qc improvements. It remains an ongoing issue, though it has been minimized.
@@HatsuneM1ku01PSA does in fact have their own QC dept. and you wanna go down another guy's throat with 'you don't have any idea what you're talking about'?🤔
@@HatsuneM1ku01,and as far as 'the middle man argument',common sense would tell you that having more than two parties involved in the buying/selling of ANYTHING is going to increase cost. But I also understand that common sense isn't all that common anymore.
I will say I have had a pretty bad QC and warranty experience with PSA, albeit it wasn't with an actual 556 AR. I've used several of their receivers and even a PSA Premium barrel/bolt with good results. The barrel is CHF and chrome lined with FN markings and performs well. Back around 2018 a friend and I saw that PSA had dedicated .22 uppers on sale, similar to CMMG they use an improved Ceiner system where the chamber insert is replaced with a dedicated bolt face and .22 barrel. However when we both shot our uppers the results were abysmal, the best we could both manage was about an 8-inch group at 25 yards with every shot obviously keyholding through the paper. I used a cleaning rod to check the barrel twist thinking they might have accidentally used something like 1:7 blanks, but it was the proper 1:16 that most other .22s use. I pulled a .22 bullet to slug the barrel and was unpleasantly surprised to find the bullet could be pushed in the chamber and out the muzzle with finger pressure, the rifling hardly seemed to touch the bullet. I RMAed mine with PSA, and after about 2 months I got it back. The RMA form had nothing but a signature on it, no work performed, and the barrel was obviously the same since I had used a paint marker to put a little red dot right by the barrel nut. When I took it out to the range it shot just as terrible as before, and I just decided I was done with PSA. Ended up replacing the barrel with a CMMG and now it shoots great, but for what I ended up paying I could have just bought a CMMG and spent a lot less time dealing with customer service
Needed a good coyote gun for my hunting place whenever I’m doing work up there in the off-season. Psa 20” classic ar for 750$ built is my choice about 1k rounds through it no issues. Money is tight right now so I couldn’t afford a DD. But I love psa!
Dude, why do psa owners wack over dd or hate on dd. It’s like that’s the only thing that y’all know exist. Don’t waste money on a DD when an fn basic patrol rifle is 1300 beans, a bcm is 1600 beans and an m&p sport is around 700 beans. DD is poopoo and bcm/fn is the gold standard of a duty grade rifle
I priced out building my own AR, but found that I could buy a complete PSA AR for less than the cost of parts! With a few tweaks, you can have a rifle almost as good as a Gucci gun at a fraction of the price.. and you don't have to baby it.
I have never had an issue with PSA. I've never had to return anything. It all worked. However, I always go through every weapon/part that I buy before I hit the range, whether it be PSA, Smith & Wesson, Canik, Sig, BCM and Aero Precision. You are the "OWNER", and it's up to the OWNER to "Operate" the weapon. Thus, the maintenance, Quality Control is "UP TO YOU THE OWNER! I have found an issue with each brand at one time or another. Tons of options out there for about $100(alg, hiperfire, larue, etc). Realistically you can build a solid lower for $250 or so depending on furniture.
4:43 lmfaooooo i hate myself for immediately understanding that reference 🦖🦖🦖
QC has been an issue with all the PSA products I’ve owned (canted FSP, out of spec front take down pin-hole, etc…) but still like them as a company
Haven’t had the issues but this is where I stand also
Dire Straits intro was amazing!! Feel like it's 1985 again!!! Love it !!!
Again, great video.
great video king. Anyway, here's Wonderwall
Awesome video, man. Best I've seen in a long time. 👍
My first rifle was a PSA. Shot a few hundred rounds through it and fell in love with the platform. Upgraded to a Daniel Defense about a year later. I still have my PSA my wife likes to shoot it. Never had an issue so far.
Why do psa owners alway go to DD or kac lol. When something like bcm or fn exist for half of a DD. It’s like y’all don’t know anything else exist
Wow great video! This is the first video of urs i have seen and i can tell ur gonna blow up.
I’m a 20 yr Army scout. Got 2 of their “colt commando” copies and they kick ass
Glad I got here early, you're definitely on the way to becoming a top tier guntuber. Keep up the good content!
Thanks brother 🫡
this is the first ever video ive seen from you and this editing won my subscription. liked and subbed ! 8:22 HAHAHA
Thank you bro
I have about 3 PSA AR’s with over 2,000 rounds plus through each of them with no issues. Good video
"Anyway, here's Wonderwall" is where I hit subscribe
You can stack bodies with the freedom line. Dont worry about duty rifle. Got DD and PSA.
Actually a really solid video, nice work
Thanks!
I’ve never had my PSA fail me yet, and would not hesitate to buy another one.
Bravo, young sir. Bravo 👏🏻
Florida fudd here i approve of this video!
Also my cheepass firearms will keep me fed and safe enough.
I priced out building my own AR, but found that I could buy a complete PSA AR for less than the cost of parts! With a few tweaks, you can have a rifle almost as good as a Gucci gun at a fraction of the price.. and you don't have to baby it.
hell of an intro! subbed
Affordable quality. Period.
Intro is too funny 😂
I have never had an issue with PSA. I've never had to return anything. It all worked. However, I always go through every weapon/part that I buy before I hit the range, whether it be PSA, Smith & Wesson, Canik, Sig, BCM and Aero Precision. You are the "OWNER", and it's up to the OWNER to "Operate" the weapon. Thus, the maintenance, Quality Control is "UP TO YOU THE OWNER! I have found an issue with each brand at one time or another. BUT I FIXED IT! IT'S MY WEAPON!!!
