  • Do your eyes deceive you, or is this not at all a fiber arts project?
Yeah, I'm branching out here a bit, honestly, just because I felt like it. This little exploration was such fun and made me really happy though, so I couldn't resist making a video about it!

Thanks for sharing this. I think it turned out great for your first try. If you ever attempt this again, try to find an electric carving knife at a thrift store; they typically cut through foam like butter. :)

fish tank filter pumps are great for smaller projects! you can get plasticiser to add to cement to make the working time a bit longer and make it a bit more mouldable for more intricate designs too.

Oo good to know, I hadn't thought to look for one of those!

Your fountain turned out really well.
If I were making one I think I'd make little areas for plant pots to slot in so I could surround it with succulents. Obviously not as a dog water fountain as some plants are toxic to pets but, ya know, as a desk feature it'd be cool.
Your dog is super adorable by the way.

Thanks, he's a little ham! And I have a design with spaces for succulents that I want to make soon too! I think the combo of green plants with the falling water will be especially peaceful.

I liked this video. It's always helpful to see what did work and what didn't. And I don't mind seeing more crafty videos of the non fiber variety.

My tiny dog will instinctively do the doggie paddle if I hold him near a running shower. Great job on the doggie bowl!

Don't forget cooking items! Jaunt away. Jaunty jaunty jaunty jaunty...
My Best Dog never did figure out a water fountain or even an gravity-fed reservoir water dish. There were tiny bubble demons in there saying hurtful things to him, and he was Not Into It. Current cat, on the other hand, would drag his water dish LITERALLY all over the house so he could see the water move (my term: slosh) before he would drink from it. A cheap $20 fountain has saved me from stepping on randomly placed cat water in the dead of night... but it doesn't look very good. I might try a version of this!

You could make a larger outdoor fountain for your new house!

Lol my friends dog who I use to dog sit for them, she adored water, more the merrier with her, I bought a big storage container for the work shop so I nicked it from the workshop screwed on some wood on the sides to step it bowing outwards and filled it with water, she went nuts over it,if I added a water sprinkler inside of it she would dive her head in to grab it and walk around with it blowing over her head 😹😹😹she spent many fun hours and days even weeks with us, if we went to their place for a visit one of us would have to take her for a drive around the block, she just loved being with us 24/7 I miss her, they were just not dog people Bo spent more time with myself and Dad than she did with them, so when they told me they were going on an 18 month RV trip but did not want to take Bo, I told them they had to make a choice, either she went with them or we find a new family for her, I have cats and have trouble walking Bo had already knocked me on my butt a few times so it was just too dangerous for us to keep her, it tore out my heart but she has a new family and the Dad drives a truck so she gets to have her daily outings and on weekends gets to play with children in the water all she wants and finally, she got to be an indoor dog as part of the family.
I loved the water fountain, one tip you need to seal the concrete this will stop it from soaking up the water which is has given you that wet look where all the joints are in the foam. If you plan to make a new one ask them at the hardware store for a cement additive to make it watertight, this is what I had to do with mine I kept wondering why there was water around the water feature lol, ummm the cement was acting like a wick 😹😹😹

oh my puppy would absolutely love one of these, he loves the ceramic water fountains my friends have for their cats, but I have no idea what cleaning cement is like or if it would be prone to harboring bacteria

I made a water fountain for my cat. No deal...
He wouldn't go near it, and I guess that's fair enough.

@@gettheetothestitchery my cat literally has a cushion covered in silk in his carrier box... I took him to the vet this morning (just vaccination shots), and the vet was all "ooh! This is NICE! I want a cushion like that!"...
Mind you, he does appreciate his silk cushion. I made it for my sofa, but it sort of became his, so... Yeah. He owns it now.
