- After over five months, a new recording of the Red Ball TAS has been produced, showcasing the roughly 2 seconds of 12 Levels improvement and 4 seconds of 17 Levels improvement over the previous recording hosted on my channel. Once again, this Red Ball TAS was made possible through the combined efforts of several Red Ball community members who spent hours upon hours shaving off every possible frame they could find, studying the game's most inner mechanics and breaking down red ball to a science. Sage created the base of the encoding hack shown in this video, but greatly modified the time and metadata textboxes to make it fit in better with the game and improve readability. And yes, the game is actually running at 4K resolution!

A couple of things to note:
The tweener, which controls the screen scrolling, is based off of inconsistent frame timings and is the main reason why spike glitch is inconsistent. For this TAS, the tweener is modified to always pan 32.258ms in its equation, the length of a 31fps frame, the framerate which Red ball runs at. At a given resolution, this should make spike glitch deterministic, but some oddities with the encode hack cause the spikes to not behave as intended. So, an invincibility hack has to be used in certain levels to keep the TAS deterministic. Additionally, some other very minor modifications were made to the game to prevent this hack from being used to cheat a RTA speedrun.
The loading times between levels are quite long, and they are not counted in the final time. Loading is longer in this hack because of the extra headroom needed by the TAS modifications. Even on the vanilla game, loading times are not consistent and depend on several factors such as flash player version, operating system, and computer hardware. However, it is believed that Flash mostly compensates for long loads by speeding up the beginning frames in the next level, but this needs to undergo further testing to be proven. Regardless, the TAS still loses time on its best theoretical time of 2:27.968 because of inconsistencies with frame timings relating to the timer that controls the transition to the next level.
We currently do not possess the ability to "properly" TAS the vanilla version of this game, but that will change once the flash emulator known as Ruffle starts to support ActionScript 3 games. However, we expect there to be issues with spike glitch and acceleration rounding, which we hope we can resolve when it comes to it.

Man, Red Ball 1 is my favorite flash game.
I kinda wish that, instead of the sequels who IMO lost most of the original's charm, we just got, like 100 levels of Red Ball 1 goodness.

This is actually a run I got after taking 4 flintstones gummies, I just go by TAS for my flintstone gummy'd up runs because I don't want people to associate my skill normally with this

@@Xnoob545 You literally can't compare the two games. Sure, they have a lot of similar aspects, and both of them are very optimized, but Red Ball has no speed cap, it has multiple types of velocity, and there are way more things you can do to gain speed in this game. Unless the TAS gets completely and utterly maxed out, it's going to be next to impossible for even the sum of best to get within a second of it, let alone RTA runners.
