When I first started working on my soft body physics game, Stick With It, I was intending for it to be on mobile (which is why it has such simple one touch controls). Now I finally get around to finishing what I started, but to make it interesting, I only get 24 hours to do it.
I added some "cool" new features to the mobile version, like an easier difficulty mode called hard mode, particles, and checkpoints. The real effort, though, went into optimizing the beep out of the game, which is absolutely no fun.
Because you have to "secure the bag" as they say, I needed to come up with a monetization strategy. Instead of having ads in the game that pop up when you die, I instead created an undo last move feature, which you can use by watching an incentivized ad. Now players will actually want to watch ads, how neat.
I actually somehow completed the 24 hour challenge... sort of, if you ignore the bug fixing and publishing stuff. Publishing took another day, mainly because you need a mac to publish to the iOS app store, and the mac I have is like really old and excruciatingly slow. But surprisingly, both the iOS and android version of the app got approved very quickly.

I read the 1 star reviews and- Does no one pay attention to the 'about this game' section in the appstore? I think the worst part about the reviews was that some people said that they were unsubbing because of this game. Like :/ You all SAW Sam make this, and heard him say there were bugs and that it was difficult and impossible. Are you REALLY going to unsub when he was completely honest about this? And the people raging about the controls? Did you not read a DAMN thing the details page said?!

Actually right since you can't cross those spikes touching borderline with the platform at checkpoint three. The chance you successfully cross that checkpoint is way less than 1% if you're a rookie or got a phone with bad frame rate.

I like how it doesn't force you to watch ads and instead you can just watch ads if you're frustrated. Damn, mobile games have really turned for the worst nowadays to imagine that you can't even play a game normally without expecting an ad every 30 seconds.

it could be cool if there were more types of floor like the non stick floor, maybe a floor that triples your jumps length, or a floor that is burning hot and will kill you after ~2 seconds.

@@lp2253 Voodoo game smakes like 1 game theirselves, all others r by small indie game developers. The way they work is they ask for the entire project, for review. Than never react to the developer anymore, change a few colors in the game and upload it with 1 million ads to the play and app store.

I just finished the new version of the game in normal mode. It was a nightmare to cross the moving platforms with that stupid moving spike platform between the last checkpoint and finish. I'm so HAPPY :)))))

Well, prototyping can be fast..few days in Unity or Unreal Engine 4 for hyper casual games like this. I created some very simple games (similiar like this) just in few hours.
But optimization, adding more features, build good main menu, add powerups and other things can take a while.
Specially if it's multiplayer game, than you need really lot's of work, backend server, backend infrastructure, databases etc.

You should make the character lose its stickiness when "you ded" so it just turns into a puddle and flows to the lowest point.

Your game is so fun and like you wanted it to be frustrating but it’s still fun 🤩
To make more fun you may add some item like teleport to certain places? slow motion when the character fall so the player still have a chance to undo it or invicibility for few seconds 😁

I actually Bought Stick with it on The iPad Pro Its pretty fun going for normal mode but i hate the moving arrow it goes way too fast to even play with that mode 😅 but its still VERY Fun! Good job
