    Well done bud, the time i spent there as a kid/teen with my dad and all my family members that are into fishing, and caught loads of flounder there, used to fish between the 2 sailing clubs and in the bay that you are fishing.

      Fond memories of youthful fishing is something I really buy into and try to promote. I have been doing coaching courses with a view to helping young anglers into sea fishing. I will be back some time soon.

    Loved your video and enthusiasm also like how you care for you fish 5☆. Made me laugh when you said you got the fish on the wishbone rig ...both your rods had wishbones on lol. Been watching a few match anglers(well known that have fishing shops) and their fish care is pathetic, glad you show them how to do it.

    • @seaangling

      A bucket filled with water is an easy thing to do although I’ve been searching for a collapsible throwing bucket for a while with little success. There is still plenty we could do in sea angling to promote and encourage fish care. Billy is promoting latex elastic, unhooking in a sympathetic way and barbless or squashed barbed hooks all play their part.
      I do chop and swap my rigs a lot so I may have switched to something else and then back again. Some conditions mean rigs don’t fish as you would expect and I like to experiment.
      Glad you enjoyed the film 🎣👍🏻

      @@seaangling ye I don't mind anyone taking fish for their tables but I won't fish a lot of our matches because they take fish to weigh in! I've asked numerous organisers why they can't catch witness and release but it's a down to cheating and was also told about how many fish trawlers kill. I was fishing Hornsea North beaches a few weeks ago and looked up and down and there was only myself and the guy next up from me with a bucket of water ready. Regarding hooks I squash but think we should go down the fresh water idea of micro barb or better still barbless hooks. Think there's a few collapsible buckets out there now but I use a pasting bucket because it's longer for the fish and fill the bucket with flask and bits and bobs for the session.

      Sadly I do not belive the lack off flounders has anything to do with the seal population in Poole Harbour! The over bait dragging, the boats that destroy the sea bed after clams! And the potting boats that net the Harbour for pot bait !makes more sence than the 3 seals that resident behind furzey Island. Sadly the flounder fishing has been shocking for last 15 years .. and the seals have been here since I was a nipper 30+ years ago ..

    • @chrisbowden6172
      @chrisbowden6172 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickphillips5098 I would guess it may be partly both didn't think about the dragging having a major affect as there limited to there dragging locations, the seals vanished many years ago and up until 4years ago a flounder session used to produce 6 to 10 a session if I was lucky, however the seals were reintroduced a couple of years back by a wildlife group, there were 5 of them which would be easily sustained in a harbour of the size of Poole but there are now many more,
      The last 2 years we have a charter trip comp for flounder and I have only seen 3 landed over 4 boats even had seals sat round the boat ( saw one rob a fish that was being bought in by an angler...)
      That said during the spring the harbour is alive with many other species ( plaice, bream, bass pout wrass, dogs, smooth hound even had turbot and codling in the entrance) and obvious thriving, even the dolphins come in the harbour chasing smaller fish.
      Let's hope the flounder population recover over the next few years
