Mark Williams Sea Angling
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 19 ส.ค. 2019
Follow me on my journey discovering new and varied species whilst learning how to fish popular areas and share the up and downs of coastal fishing.
My local area consists of the Solent and Southampton water but in my quest for different species I will travel far and wide to experience all that UK coastal waters offer.
I am a keen amateur and so there will be many aspects of what I do open to critisism. I appreciate all positive comments and look forward to learning from other like minded anglers on the quest for improving yours and my success rates.
I have now purchased my dream boat, a Warrior 165 and will add boat fishing videos on a regular basis.
Please feel free to comment and ask questions, there are plenty of subscribers that may be able to help if my limited knowledge isn’t enough.

Cheers buddy, I always look forward to the hounds arriving as they are amazing sport and I’m lucky to live where they have a habit of getting pretty big by UK standards.
Just a question using the trident stuff do you not need to use rotton bottom still
@@jonathangibbon-hayes1816 not unless the conditions dictate.
Thanks for the reply, how would you do it using the roto clip as in the north east need to use rotton bottoms most of the time
You go on to much when making rig about how thick the swivel wire is on the swivel Just put the swivel on. You take too long.
@@grahamhaury1421 my apologies. Consider myself corrected.
I haven't owned one of these for perhaps 20 plus years sadly. I love the simplicity of them. I just generally do pleasure course fishing and I'd say the only thing which it struggles on is uneven ground and perhaps can't put attachments on to it by I know in theory you can and we did get by with out them. I've recently had open heart surgery and always looking at taking less to the bank and at the moment I take quite I lightweight box but have to take baitbox, rucksack with terminal tackle in ,net bag and rod holdall but I remember I managed to put all the the terminal tackle and bait all in this box so I suppose that's 2 less items to carry. So I'm started to wonder as I've recently purchased I small trolley and my seatbox will only fit on it when I turn it on its side where as this box will just sit perfectly on the trolly. Nice video and I know it's 4 years old but I'm so so tempted go for one again.
And all I managed yesterday in 6 hours was 1 ting lol . Although I didn’t have much thoroughly enjoyed fishing for them yesterday. Top vid mark .
@@SuperAirwolf007 did you recognise the position and the marker I said to fish near?
Hi, I used this rig yesterday at Hordle cliff and I caught 2 whiting so I was happy not to blank. I’ve also made some of your other rigs, and I like them thank you, Andy.
Glad the rigs work out for you, if nothing else they are a firm base to then adjust as you see fit. It is sometimes worth making a few of the same rig but with slight variations. You can then fish them in rotation and see what works better for you. 🎣👍🏻
Has anyone ever said you sound a little bit like Ricky Gervais No offence intended ☝️🧐
Snood length is all about when and were. Typically when there’s a run of tide and it’s calm I’ll use snoods up to 90cm. If it’s not too rough or the tides are slack I’ll go down to 30cm. Typically 60cm would be my go to. Snood length makes a massive difference. The benefit of the longer snoods is you’re searching out a much bigger area of seabed for the fishes. On a three hook flapper you’re searching out an area of 9foot. The other benefit of long snood is certain species like to pick up and mouth the bait without feeling instant resistance.
Hi Mark did you ever drop the video on the spring loaded paternoster?
In truth, no I didn’t but I have a list of things to cover for the next series due to start soon.
@seaangling looking forward to it 😊
My local beach , we have had some big hounds down there to 16lb and rays to 25lb good vid
Thank you, I should fish it more as I am very close.
@seaangling as you know it's hit and miss but on good days/ nights it can really give you a red letter day
Mark , man I absolutely love your videos. I have learned a ton especially on your rig vids. Though I'm from the US , if I ever get the chance to get over there on your side of the pond I would absolutely love to sit in on a session with you. keep up the great work ! Your definitely an OG in the fishing game without question !
@@mman9306 you are very welcome and thank you for the kind words. If we all shared our best everyone would gain experience faster and then pass on what they have learned. I fear we have missed a couple of generations that knew so much but were hindered in passing it on. Outdoor skills and the link to nature is an amazing thing that many miss out on. I would love to hear more about your area and the fishing differences between there and here. 🎣👍🏻
Ah yes, the (not so) Common Skate, a fish that's on the critically endangered list.
Amazing really because there are more of them than I originally thought. There are other species that strike me as rarer but the longevity of these amazing creatures probably plays a part.
I’m sorry it’s a really good effort but being a complete novice I can’t really replicate what you’ve done because it’s not explained well enough. I mean what line are you using, how do you attach the Shock leader? How long is the shock leader? How do you attach the rig to the leader? I think you attached to hooks at the end of the line but I can’t really see how you did it. The elastic stuff you used you seem to wrap it round and round and round and then just cut it off does it just stay there or does it not unravel. I’m not writing this to be critical. I just really need to understand how to do it that’s all.
Fair point and one I am working on with a new series in production taking step by step everything you mention and more for a complete break down. If you have specific questions feel free to ask here or contact me via email and I’ll do my best to help.
If you can catch de small tings , you can get de bigger tings on dem too ! if you be lucky
Absolutely, you always have a chance with a hook in the water. 😉
miss these mark. we would all love to see you back

We're can I get that line u had on ur reel
@@JohnandrewPearson-co4uu try the “Shorecast” website. Loads of good gear, bait and selection of line.
I find that after sizing and wrapping in elastic, the baits need freezing before vac sealing, otherwise the bait juice gets sucked into the sealing area and the machine, during the vac seal process.
@@BognorYouthU13 I totally understand what you are describing. Have you got the same vacuum machine? I ask because this one has a soft vacuum setting for wet stuff. Lightly freezing for an hour or so would help with the process otherwise.
What about actually hooking the bait up with snoods and hooks, and then vac packing? If you don’t vacuum it down to hard it shouldn’t pierce. You could easy carry 8-10 of those with you. Super quick start fishing.
That is a very good idea and one I have discussed with others before. Particularly important now we are heading for colder weather and baiting up gets more difficult.
Excellent.
Wish someone made a pocket to put some hot hands inside. As someone who suffers from Raynards I really find it a struggle during winter when my mind's telling me yes but my body is telling me no!
The jacket has a lined hand warmer pocket that meets in the middle. I put 1 battery hand warmer in and warm both hands from it. 👍🏻
@@seaangling Thanks buddy much appreciated. I've just checked them out and they're handmade in the UK which is also good news. I've always thought that watersports companies would make the best clothing for fishing compared to the usual sales companies.
@@richardjones2811 I went to the factory and watched my suit cut and tailored by the team. Really nice friendly atmosphere and pride in their work. I believe they made kayaking stuff first and branched into the fishing stuff. I love the light weight and stretch in the fabric, it is totally waterproof.
Where are you?

GREAT VIDEO AGAIN ! THANKS🐕
You are very welcome. 🎣
Another great video Mark,i was thinking of going for the Tronix Pro box but instead i bought the beach trolly ,the shakespeare box used to kill my back. Keep up the good work.
Everyone’s needs are different and this was a decision from me to carry less. I’m not getting any younger and some of those longer walks need a reduction in carried weight.
Hi, great videos, just one question what crimps do you use? Cheers Andy (Hampshire)
Hi Andy, to crimp or not to crimp? That is the question. I’ll admit I’m not a “big” fan and I’m choosy over which crimps I use. My favourite are the Sakuma ones which are very high quality. Avoid the cheap ones that look like they’ve been guillotined. That leaves sharp edges and leads to rig failures. Try to gauge your crimping force and only crimp in the centre and not near the edge.
@@seaangling Thank you.

One packet of medium sand eel, 2 baits from each eel. 😉
on that knot can you trim the tag end right up against the knot so a bead can sit nicely against the knot, or is it likely to slip if there is no tag end showing ?
One thing you can do is to “blob” any mono knot. This is where you heat the tag end and press it into a blob. No chance of that slipping through a knot.
Great to see you back again, missed your enthusiasm. Do you still use the Fireblades, or are they enjoying retirement in your workshop?!.
I moved on from the mk1 fireblades as they were too stiff in the tip for me. I do most of my shore fishing atm with a pair of AFAW match pro’s.
Must confess, I have fond them a little stiff , thought about upgrading to the 14' gt version, but went completely mad , and bought a t900 with a shimano power aero pg 14000, I don't half look like I know doing don't catch any more fish mind you !
Great video. how does bait fit on hook though when the hook is clipped in the release clip ?
By ensuring the hook point is always proud it also ensures the clipped in aspect works faultlessly.
Nice one Wayneo enjoyed this video 😉
Hi Mark, It's been two years since you post this one on the 6&bait and reel it would be really good to hear how you have been getting along with them. I'm looking at purchasing the same setup and would like to hear about how they cast, bite detection and what species you would be happy to use the rods for. Many thanks I really enjoyed the video.
It’s been a decent amount of time and well worth reflection. I upgraded from the 6&B’s to the match pro’s. I also opted to go from the casting specials to a pair of fathom 12’s. Both changes were to go slightly lighter which better suited the cleaner ground I fish along the south coast. For heavier ground or stronger tides I would have stuck with the 6&B’s. The bite detection and ability to set into a grip lead weren’t quite what I was looking for and so lighter line and a more sensitive tip improved my bite detection. My best advice would be to try one if you can.
Superb. That's just what I've been looking for. I'm relatively new to this and can never find decent diagrams. Many thanks.
I’m really glad it helps. There will be a new series in the Autumn on rigs and set ups. 🎣👍🏻
