    once heard primitive man described as a sonic representation of dying out in the middle of no where, alone, in a room with no windows no doors, with your chest caved in. no one knows or cares that you are there dying alone.....that was several years ago. they have honed their craft since then

    This helps let go of ego. life is suffering, expectations are disappointment waiting to happen, take comfort in chaos as it’s the only true and known constant in the universe

    • @xenostim
      @xenostim ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I dunno man.. I'm not saying this is where you got it from, but "life is suffering" is often a misunderstanding of Buddhist teachings. The teaching is that samsara is suffering, and that it is our purpose to transcend it. Another teaching is that the nature of sentient beings is true happiness (Buddha), so suffering is therefore completely unnatural.
      Regarding chaos, a lot of that can line up with the principle that everything is impermanent. And while that can be chaotic, nothing can arise without a cause. Chaos is sometimes conflated with Nihilism, as some Nihilists believe that phenomena can arise randomly, without a cause.
      Thank you for humoring my unasked for comparison to Buddhist principles 🤣. Cheers

      .. every time I’ve seen primitive live, I was tripping my balls off , and it helped me through their whole set .. i understood life is worthless , your dreams are illusions , and no matter what, “WE” all end up in the same place .. dead soil, and dirt in the ground .. you can either embrace it, or live your life of illusions and fantasy .. I’m ok with either or .. you’re disgusting just like me , either way..human beings are a cancer, and the universe, no matter how small of a space we inhabit within it , would be better off without us .. fuc this life

    PRIMITIVE MAN return with the extreme, terrifying and confrontational new album, Immersion. True to the band's ethos, every moment on Immersion is overwhelming; from the sonic pummeling on the album opener "The Lifer" to the brooding, unnerving guitars whirring throughout "Entity", Immersion builds and builds. The tension throughout the record is palpable - hair raising tracks such as "Menacing" push and pull constantly, shifting from passages of harsh doom to an endless corridor of horrid screaming, blast beats, and a formidable low end.

    Adding to the album's darkness, a pervasive lyrical anxiety erodes throughout Immersion. A stark look at a mirror, Immersion's themes tackle sobering views on existential crises, a general distrust among another, and the current state of the world. "Souring your view on your existence and everything you had worked towards. Allowing you to become possessed by the darkest parts of your mind that you have carried around your entire life and not dealt with." PRIMITIVE MAN's Ethan McCarthy elaborates.

    True to these dark times, PRIMITIVE MAN's Immersion is an introspective look into ruin and undoing. As McCarthy explains, Immersion dives into the point of no return. "Now you're a grown man and you're fucked."

    When I hear their music, I think of the “Lazy Horse Mattress Ad” scene from Tim and Eric, where the instant Will Forte puts his head on the pillow, he’s in a homicidal (suicidal?) nightmare screaming, “MURDER ME!!!”, and ripping some guys arms off and eating them, then it climaxes with his head exploding (like a cartoon version of the Scanners head explosion)... That’s basically the world I’m transported to by Primitive Man, except it’s all in slo-mo, and everything is bathed in tracers, as if my beer were spiked with acid..
    *I love it!*

      To each their own, I’d never tell anyone what they should or should not like, but I almost feel like it would be of great benefit to individuals who don’t like “drone”, or music that incorporates it like a lot of doom metal (and sub-doom micros), *if they’d learn to like it.* Certainly for some people it all comes down to taste, and not much if anything more, but I legitimately think for some people it’s about a lack of patience, attention, and\or not being able to focus, or all the above, in various ways. In my own life, that’s been a real problem, so I’m not merely being critical, but I also think “drone”, or to put it very generally, “slower music that requires patience and attention for delayed gratification”, has helped me learn to focus better, and possible even improved my patience.
      I’m not suggesting that drone and doom metal (or non-metal drones for that matter) is a definite way to improve one’s ability to focus, concentrate, delay gratification, etc, but I am suggesting that I think it’s helped me in these ways, in part bc once I realized that there *is* gratification and “reward” that comes with such music, I realized there was a kind of metaphorical relevance to my life, and having the patience necessary to delay gratification, and uh.. yeah..
      I’m going on too long here, but your comment got my mind going on this issue. Like I said, a lot of it really is just a matter of taste, but I really don’t think that’s all there is too it, and I do think it can possibly be “symptomatic”, but I gotta seriously fucking digress and stfu, before I write a thesis and nobody reads it.. 🤘♾✌️

      Also, let’s not forget the Black Curse album ffs! I can’t be the only one who’s fallen in love with that, and thinks it couldn’t have been released a better year.. It may not be as heavy as the Ulcerate, or what I anticipate the Gaerea being like, but it was still blistering, and imo the psychedelia of that album really added to it’s menacing nature in a crazy good way! (Also, it sounds like “Spirit Possession” is going to be in a similar dark, psychedelic nightmare style. So much good metal this year!)

    • @nikolademitri731
      @nikolademitri731 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Escaping Aghartha band official Fucking A! It’s a necessary release of rage imo, but it also helps me focus that rage, perhaps by exercising the excess so I can better funnel the rest into productive work, whatever it may be. That’s how it works for me, anyway.
