@@zombi77 People often mention Body Void and Indian in the same sentence, but personally I would go for older bands like dISEMBOWELMENT, early Swans and Godflesh, Winter. Funeral doom bands like Esoteric - The Maniacal Vale and Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea: different but you might like it. Perhaps Khanate - Clean Hands Go Foul (a bit crazy), or Mizmor - Yodh (more black metal influenced but still crushingly heavy).
First time listener here. Was just thinking "Jesus, this is caustic" when I noticed that's the title of one of their albums, judging by the Up Next suggestion.
This has slowly become one of my favorite albums...punishing, dynamic, psychedelic crawling spiral into abyss. Cornered into unavoidable darkness. The mix/recording on this is soooo sick, as well as the performances. I love listening to this album during psychedelic experiences, it has become one of my go to records for when I'm in that state. It delves me into this meditative frame of mind which i connect to on a very deep level. Always bringing a sense of peace in true darkness. Love this record. their best imo
What really brings me to Primitive Man over most other metal acts is not just the big, slow, crushing sound but also how good the lyrics are, especially on Lifer but ever more prominently across Caustic. I have a hard time generally liking the genre because of how secondary lyrics are and how often I don't vibe with the instruments, but this is one of the exceptions. I get the substance of hip-hop with the extreme power of metal in such a nice combo. That is not to say metal never has lyrics, but this band is one of the few I've found that gives me what I'm looking for in that regard.
I perform mindless IT tasks all day assigning and reassigning licenses from the pit of Microsoft Hell. This complements the vile screams coming from the Office365 Abyss quite nicely......
Reply, I do overnight shifts at a treatment home, mostly just keeping an eye on things and doing mindless paperwork. I made a big doom/sludge playlist and this is on it, along with thou, the body, mizmor, and others
I'm imagining a dark hole in the ground with a computer, and a defeated man in chains hooked up to some green, bio-luminescent fluid furiously sweating and typing away on a 6 monitor setup while a cyborg version of Bill Gates mercilessly whips him into submission while screaming: "You've got mail..... HOT mail!!! From the depths of the endless abyss that is Microsoft Hell muhahahahahahah!!!!"
For sure, great comparison! My friends have been getting me into Swans over the last year and, wow! Cop really anticipated so much doom and just the more crushing side of metal. I'm working my way through their discography and Cop is the last one I heard. I think Filth is my favorite so far, just such raw, unfiltered anger and intensity! :)
One of the best bands around right now! I hope to get a copy of the vinyl soon. I remember wishing for bands this heavy back in 1990 or so. If you go "heavier" than this your in the realms of experimental music.
@@roy_for_real2674 I am familiar with this band and album. Thanks for the link. It is always nice to get a reminder of all of the great stuff out there.

Everything won’t be Allright !!!
And it's definitely not gonna be okay!!!

Truly a life affirming record!
I agree. Rainbows from my experience are bad luck to come. I dread to see them. Haven't in awhile thankfully.

absolutely insane how crushing this feels, this and Boris's "No" are turning out to be my favorite albums of the year
do you know any similar sounding bands? i dont listen to this genre but this is sick and want to found just the same..

They don't disappoint, you know you're getting a great heavy as f album. The crushing tones and dark atmosphere are insane.

It just feels organic and real, like you gain something real when listening. Satisfying album
I think my soul left my body and hid under the bed.
THAT means that YOU could be the MONSTER UNDER YER OWN BED!!!! Oooh, I wouldn't wish that upon a monkey onna rock! 🦃🫡🦃
This is my most loved album of theirs. As of Oct/24.

You don't need to vent your anger, Primitive Man will do that for you, and then some. Extremely comforting.
This is how I feel when I have to deal with people
Sounds like a party.
When I go to the convenience store.
great comment man lol!!!!
This is like staring into the mouth of pure misery, then it spits in your face and consumes you whole

The last time I had the top of my head sheared off like this was listening to SWANS "Cop" in the mid-80s. Holy cow! Good job!

Great record. I think most people think.."well i can write something like this, easy.." until they try, its hard.
Most Pop songs: 120BPM
Average BPM of a show featuring Primitive Man and Rings of Saturn: 120BPM
So eargasmic! I've been a metalhead for over a decade. I just found this band 2 months ago.
Check out Vermin Womb
An absolutely crushing album. Now if only Indian could make a new album, the nihilistic doom circle will be complete.
grindcoremaniac I’m just getting into this type of doom, do you know other bands like it other than PM and Indian?
@@jaggedvisions I would recommend Lord Mantis and Mastiff. I'd throw Inter Arma in there too, but they don't necessarily stick to doom all the time.

eh, too poppy. the radio never plays their old stuff. time for more five finger death punch. it’s much heavier.
