    Thank you so much for making these APA guideline videos. I've been writing since I was a kid, but for some reason I never was good at at MLA or APA-style assignments. I don't know if I just overthink the projects, since I tend to overthink in many aspects of my life, or what I've been doing wrong all these years, but I always end up getting the lowest passing grade, if I get a passing grade at all. Being a college student, my success at correctly writing these papers is crucial to graduation. I really hope that this time, my efforts will pay off.

    I absolutely love your videos. I was like extremely terrified and confuse of APA formatting. It made no sense to me whatsoever. Your video gave me a little bit more of an understanding, and I am so thankful for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Saved my butt times a million.

    This is so much more helpful than reading through the websites I have been trying to understand. I was told to use this style of referencing, tried my hardest to do it and then completely failed without being told why except for 'use the referencing method we told you to use this time' Like. I TRIED! This is a lifesaver. It actually makes sense now. Thank you so much.

    This is super helpful! As a new graduate student, I am struggling with APA. Does the reference format change according to the source (website, book, article)?

    • @karrey2706
      @karrey2706 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, there are minor differences depending on the source. That's because each has different available information. A book has a publication date, publisher...which are not present in a website or video. Journal articles, on the other hand, have details like "volume number" "issue number", "pages" which are not present in websites and not always required in a book reference.

    Thanks for these great videos. I provide titles and links number of them on my English 111 course page for the benefits of students. They like the easy-to-understand way the material is presented in an upbeat way. For student papers, I've been teaching that APA has gotten rid of the date in the "Retrieved from" statement; however, there are exceptions listed in the 7th edition manual. The Purdue OWL says to use it, but typically, I would say not to use the date of the research. The guiding principle seems to be whether the source material is fixed and enduring (doesn't change), or if the material is on a site that changes or is updated. Keep up the great videos, I've learned a lot from them and willingly share them each semester to enlighten struggling freshmen word warriors.

    For Citations of direct quotes, do you need to make a new entry (in Word) for every page added or can you just manually add e.g. page 99. i could imagine you get a lot of entries otherwise. (for each page number you quote from)

    Praise God for these videos. You would think that I should be a pro by now in APA and MLA required citations and references, however, here I am still trying to get it right. lol. I am finishing up my bachelor's degree in Christian Ministries and Psychology my theology classes are in Turabian style and my psychology classes are in APA every professor is so different. Right now my professor in Psychology is tough. I am trying to make all A's but it isn't helping that I am getting points off for not citing correctly. Are you still available for some tutoring?
