+ADDERS Hi Adders! We are planning to do videos about applied anatomy (and how to find a palpate structures) in the future. Our focus at the moment is however still on assessment, because there is still so much more to talk about! A product we both think is great is the "Trail Guide to the Body" which is a book including a DVD.
Hey kar, the aim of joint play is to assess the capsule through movements that are not possible to be actively performed by the patient (e.g. Tractions, glides). These movements are small (roughly 4mm in each direction) but they are essential for proper joint functioning. The joint play modalities can also be used as treatments. Hip traction for example is pretty popular for hip arthritis
Hello, I'm from Taiwan I have a question to ask, how to grade the joint play when we were in the testing ? Is there a scale that to tell us whether our joints are too tight, too loose, or normal? Thank you so much.
I have a question for you smart people! If you’re doing a posterior glide and you feel limitation does that mean their flexion or internal rotation is bad. Also if you notice that their anterior glide is bad does that mean their external rotation and extension may be bad? Thank you!
Hi Marija, it is tempting to couple an osteokinematic movement (limitation) with an arthrokinematic limitation, which often go hand in hand in practice. So in case of limited internal rotation in the zero position, we often see a limited dorsal capsule, same with external rotation and ventral capsule. However, there is also research out there that for example shows that posterior glides improve external rotation: Johnson et al. (2007):www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17416123 So it's never that straight forward... Flexion is a spin movement of the joint btw., so no particular part of the capsule is stretched.
in school we learned that the mlpp for the schoulder joint is 60 dagree flexion 60 dagree abduction and 30 dagree exorotation, but then again we did only traction and translation in dorso lateral and ventral medial direction
Hi thanks for excellent video. What grade of oscillation to use to assess glide. I am pretty sure you are using grade one distraction. waiting for your reply

Is there any exs for a ulnar nerve subluxation ? And triceps syndrome ? What imaging tests do you suggest to know the difference. Been to different therapists who had diffeeent opinion. Ulnar nerve subluxation bs triceps syndrome
Hey Marianne, we've never come across these pathologies during our education or practice to be honest. Maybe you wanna have a look into this research article: www.researchgate.net/publication/244912943_Snapping_Triceps_Syndrome_A_Review_of_the_Literature
lol that guy looking right in my soul
😈😈😈
hahaha I just wrote same a comment then I see yours
great video and info as always! that eye contact at 1:40!
😁
this video helping me so much, thanks for sharing!
You're welcome! Glad you found what you were looking for Amalia
iya amal sama sama
The patient just keeps staring into my soul
THANKS KAI FOR THESE EXERCISES ... GOOD THERAPIST
Thanks for your advice
Could you guys do any videos explaining how to locate and palpate certain areas e.g. Bony features, muscles and tendons? That would be great!

Fantastic video and explanation
Thx buddy!
The dude getting worked on. I felt like he was actually looking at ME. hahaha
Very good and uniek really thanks my friend
Thank you 😊
Thanks for this video,I have a problem with my external rotation and internal rotation with stiffness from past 6 months
For any personal health or rehab questions we recommend to consult with our partners at yourphysio.online for a remote physiotherapy consultation.
You guys are the best
Tq for sharing.. Ur videos are very helpful
Thanks for this video, it would be just great to learn which movement ( AP, PA, Caudal, etc.) helps which function. Thanks again!
Check out our manual therapy playlist
We have lots of videos on shoulder mobilization
is there is a difference between AP and PA glide
and both caudal glides ? Thank you in advance
+Nadaa mustafa AP: anterior to posterior
PA: posterior to anterior
Caudal is always caudal
2:17 why do u look at me like that 😶🙃
It means so much to me as a PT student that have exam tomorrow😭😭
Appreciate it! Good luck with your exam on Monday
Excellent video, thanks for sharing!!!
+Murray Collier Sports Therapy We are glad you liked it! We have many more joint play videos on our channel
Sir can you please tell us that which glide increases which movement
Hi Kai, what the exact purpose of joint play? Why do we perform it? As part of joint mobilization?
Hey kar, the aim of joint play is to assess the capsule through movements that are not possible to be actively performed by the patient (e.g. Tractions, glides). These movements are small (roughly 4mm in each direction) but they are essential for proper joint functioning.

What if there is excessive movement on one side??
Perfeito 👍👏👏

Hi :) what about the fixation of scapula to make this mobilization more precision?
Hi Tomasz,
the scapula is fixated by the weight of the patient.
From my practice i think that it is not enough :) try to fix it by the passive move of kaudal direction before mobilization :) hava a good day
Have a look at our newer videos on shoulder mobilizations. This is how we do them in practice
OK nice one

Hi thanks for excellent video. What grade of oscillation to use to assess glide. I am pretty sure you are using grade one distraction. waiting for your reply
Oscillations are a treatment technique to decrease pain. During an assessment we are interested in the amount of distraction or translation.
Hi, so why do we do traction and distraction? What are the benefits for the patient? :) Thanks
Mainly used in a very reactive joint with high frequency to decrease pain
Hey guys, great videos. what kind of clinical information can you deduce from these tests. Is decreased play more significant and an over-lax capsule?

@@Physiotutors thanks
I love guys without tatoos...less distractions, so now I can only focus on their muscles :-D
Kindly guide me about resting and actual resting position
Not sure what you’re asking
Can you rephrase your question ?
Basically i'm asking about joint positions for evaluating the joint play and traction joint play
Why do physio therapist must to do joint play? What will it gives them?
👍👍👍👍👍
wow where was this channel all this time?¿
just to confirm, are these OMT techniques?
+MATEYE SERATHA posting videos since 2013 ;)
The videos on joint play are based on the Kaltenborn technique
