    FYI Q does mean Quality if you know what quality we are talking about.

    I appreciate this older tutorial. We have this exact board / desk in our church. Our sound man is truly an expert, but is reluctant to share his knowledge. My pastor has approached me about learning the board, to fill in when the sound engineer is away at another gig or is ill; getting older. This was and is still relevant even today, and sheds a wonderful light of information for me as I begin to learn this board. Thank you. I am attempting to learn his "Presets" for the differing inputs during the service. When the choir is getting ready to sing, he pushes one button and several sliders jump into service; then when a special is being introduced, he will push two buttons, one returning to default and the next sets up the following requirements. Thanks again. I am watching this again.

    @pickersplayspop Thanks for the helpful video. I've been on a wide variety of analog and digital desks (Harrison, Trident, SSL, Neve) but never an LS9. I had a client request to op one and this starter saved me some time while RTFM. :) Quite a nice board really...intuitive. Cheers! And for the rude know-it-alls here...big middle finger! There is always more to learn and those that share their knowledge are to be thanked and encouraged and if need be, politely corrected.

    It's true! Q means Quality Factor, aka Q Factor, which is the reciprocal of the filter width, in octaves.
    So, a Q of 1 represents a filter width of 1 octave (8va)
    Q of 0.5 is a filter width of 2 octaves
    Q of 2 is a filter width of 0.5 octaves.
    etc.
    Ya see?

    The console shone is the 64 Channel LS9. Thirty 32 XLR inputs, and 32 more channels available by utilizing the card slots.
    Rotary encoders, not rotary faders.
    Your monitor sends, which output are you selecting? Matrix, buss, group, direct? You are refering to an output label and not a console output.

    I find that when I pan a channel in the mix bus, FOH mix also gets panned. How do you pan channels in the mix bus without affecting the FOH mix?

    at my church we have this unit and the lead guitar player has over road control from the control panel to his amp.. how can I over ride his amp and control his values on the board??? need you help asap ♨😠♨😠

    • @paulkunne9220
      @paulkunne9220 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He has only turned up his guitar amp louder than the PA speakers. Put a microphone on his amp and explain that you will put the right amount of volume through the sound system. And that we will need to operte his on stage amplifier at a lower volume. If he does not comply, tell him this is a standard practice in small venues. AND PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS ARE ADAPTABLE he will be upset but its the truth. If he decides to have a hissy fit and leave, well thats vanity and if he changes thats humility. Either way the truth will set you free. Church is a place for worship, gratitude and service not for the status of being a sick guitar player.

    He called Q on a para "quality" brilliant

  • @rockinrio96
    @rockinrio96 10 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    "Q" is for bandwidth, not "quality".

    • @robbiekingswood6071
      @robbiekingswood6071 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Q means quality.. quality factor/Q factor

    • @pickersplayspop
      @pickersplayspop  10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Q does means quality and represents bandwidth actually.

    • @Videditor1067
      @Videditor1067 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Q refers to the Quality of a frequency filter, in the sense that a narrow filter is of higher quality than a broader filter.
      **"Higher Quality" in a sense of better to use, more effective in narrowing**
      *** Lets just say "Quality" a bad word to use…Freq Width (FW)… yes just made that up, would be more logical. ***
