Jon is one of the few things I thank the pandemic for. Before that, I sometimes felt he was fake and even annoying as Colbert's "sidekick". But during the pandemic, I got to "know" him a lot better, and began to see that he was genuine and truly a fine person.

Great start to a new season of Mavericks. Jon Batiste has a brilliant light within him that shines outward and he deserved the recognition. Ari, all those complementary things he said about Ari and his show were spot on and I was delighted to hear him say them. I understood that he needed to ‘move on’ but his presence and chemistry with Stephen Colbert was missed

Wow! This was such a great interview. Jon Batiste is such a national treasure. He is so young, but such a great representation of what has always made New Orleans such a culturally relevant treasure. I fear so much of that was lost and driven out after Katrina. It is refreshing to see someone so young, with such an old soul and talent that has maintained the true essence of New Orleans musical culture and creativity. Just listening to this interview reminded me of my time living in New Orleans for college, and all of my relatives that live there and those who have passed on that had the musical gifts. Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!!
