- 台湾のメタルバンドCHTHONIC（ソニック/閃靈）の紅一点ベーシスト、Dorisのシグネチュアモデル"ANDROMEDA D"が完成しました。
"ANDROMEDA D"は、ESP FOREST-B5を元にしたベースで、ボディトップはベベルドアーチになっています。ピックアップはセイモアダンカンのSSB-5を搭載。DorisのフェイスペイントにインスパイアされたインレイはパープルのLEDが埋め込まれています。

She didn't mention it in the video, but the bass also functions as a high-powered plasma rifle.
Yeah, some bassists can pull it off. Over the years, I've had bass players in my band who did it both ways, but the guys who used their fingers didn't really keep up with the guitars' picking... they just picked up on the same notes and tonal changes at a somewhat slower pace, but the guys who finger the bass can definitely lend a heavy sound to death/metalcore bands if they're good... but a lot of bassists just use a pick and follow the guitars almost exactly.
I love when custom models have concepts. Very nice bass.

I actually have an Ltd F-155DX bass guitar (that looks a lot like this one, 5 strings and all) and I find it a lot more enjoyable to play with my fingers. And yeah, sadly a lot of bass lines are just lower guitar lines, that's why I love bands like DIR EN GREY.
To play tremolo-ish things I slap with my thumb and pinky alternatively, it's like a Frank Mullen Shaka sign.

A Japanese-made *true* ESP (none of the low-end LTD crap) with Neck LEDs in an Ebony fretboard, Silverburst/Iridescent Purple finish & MATCHING HEADSTOCK! Make it in a less-\m/etal body style (a Dinky Jazz 5 would be fantastic!) and I'd add one to my Toolbox (but be replacing the Pickups and Electronics to Nordstrand Big Singles & Aguilar OBP-3SK//PP for some Jazz-style *punch*)

I know artists like Doris get a generous artist's discount when it comes to custom instruments, but I'm still wondering how on earth she managed to afford this instrument.
ESP recently decided to release the Andromeda D bass (LED Version) to the public, and it costs freaking 984,374 Yen: that's $9,532 for crying out loud! And it doesn't even come with a hard case, only a gig bag....
Thankfully, they have a non-LED version that's $3,500. But still....
