@chris5903 for the same reason I don't wait for the d5. Why wait 2 years for something that does not exist. Its like waiting for the new iphone or ipad, just get something, there will always be something new.
@86Legacy For everything from stills to video. The stills will have better dynamic range, higher ISO handling and overal its newer. The Video is just insane and what it offers is amazing. Look at it like this. What does the 2013 car offer you over the 2009???

@JaredPolin or if you're poor like me... wait for the new thing to come out so the previous generation gets super cheap. just because there is a new edition doesn't mean that the previous one gets worse. it's just as amazing as when it came out.
Nice unboxing. I love that new shirt. And you were giving away stickers? PERFECT! I been wanting a shirt and that one is amazing. So I ordered it because of the extra stickers I am covering one suitcase I have in stickers before I move to Japan in May with blogs and stuff that I follow and whatnot. So now I'll have a couple of your stickers on it.
The card and reader don't cost that much if you buy online. That's assuming you even need XQD. Did your write speed have to improve by $200?
We have all the Nikon and Canons at our studio, D800, D4, 5Dmkiii and 1Dc, as well as a D6 and D600 by Nikion, they are all great cameras, the Nikons do cool stuff, timelapse etc, depends what you want to use them for, if you have the cash and want a very very good camera, the D1c is un believable, 4/5k range, i mean photos and videos look pristine, i see the Nikons around the shop when there are gigs and the guys take the cams out, so that tells you allot., the C300/5D3/1Dc

@bryonlape for a CARD and a Card READER that would be close to the total if you purchased both.
@Clapboardstudio Pretty much my thoughts. If you own a D3s, you're bound to have decent glass, so why not sell the D3S and spend a little extra dough for the newest and now best :)

i find most people who use nikons are fans of photagraphers from the 70s, like this dude, i love this Jared guy, reminds me of my older bro, who grew up in the 70s, they look identical lol, but really man, the 5dmkii was a game changer, no longer will Nikon lead the top cameras every 7 years, we know have full frame video and photo cameras with wifi coming out every year or less., and Canon seems to be in the lead here.
How/where do you make your money? How many "photo shoots" / photo works do you have per week and how much do you charge for them? Really interesting to know for one that is starting to take money for my photography. Thanks!

@ClankyRochet D800, its going to be better than the D3X and easier/lighter to use. But if you are spending so much money on a camera, you must already have good lenses for your 7D so why not keep using the glass on the 5dmark3?
i agree. I still use my mom's old crappy 3 point focus d60 camera and i can get awesome photos. i probably won't buy one of those fancy cameras for a while. maybe upgrade to a d800, but that's about it :)
Jared, can you do a video using uncompressed 1080p HDMI footage? I'm curious how good the quality will be.

@mybloodysabbath you always get an option, whether you buy the Mark II or the D4, because people who buy high range cameras already have the custom lens with them so they have an option :)

@JaredPolin Hi Jared. I just bought a d3s about 4-5 months ago for sports and portraits. I dont really use it for video, although i might get into it. I have probably taken 10,000 photos with it, and im wondering if i should upgrade?? Thanks.

lucky you, I've got a superzoom and a Nikon F80 Film camera... so I think you're still better off with the d90. :) good luck on your quest

Wouldn't the little nubbin for the Black Rapid strap make vertical shooting uncomfortable?
Correct myself the Canon 1Dc (cinema version) is the best DSLR in the world atm, not my opinion, performance tests and specs, but again i repeat the PRICE is nuts and Canon likes to compete with their own products, silly right lol

but he or she is correct about the Canon D1, the 5dmkii ii can also confirm performs better then a d800, but again it depends if you have the cash, that is probably the only reason Nikon users bash Canon, like Apple products, so good but you have to pay for them.
Not sure if you personally know this person here to call anyone names but just to be fair, this comes down to performance, Canon wins., money its Nikon, GH3 and probably even the BMCC camera

Hey guys I really need your opinion. Currently I'm using Canon 7D and I'm looking to upgrade a ff body which I can not decide between Nikon d3s, Nikon d3x, Nikon d800 or Canon 5dmk3. All of these camera are in my budget range (second hand and new) I like the d3x because I don't need the high fps and extra mp would be nice. Please tell me what do you think.
Does the green tinge on the display screen bother you at all?
Would you use a plastic sheet over it? like a phone cover?
should i buy D800 or D4 for people and events it will be my first dslr

I agree canon d1 blows this garbage out of the water, I think you should watch a video by the NIKON GUY, while I am sure jarred sticks to his guns and is honest and well trustworthy for advise the Nikon guy is also honest and has a detail comparison between the Nikon D4 and canon 1D, he explains in details ow the 1D beats the crap out of the d4, and he uses a d4, I suggest you check the video out, assuming your a student and don't know the diference yet, live and learn
how long do you think it will be till the d3s is around 2k or less? because that is the only way I'd be able to get it. lol.

Nikon d4 is a very good camera. Anyone who tries to compare the 1dx and the d4 is an idiot. They are both amazing cameras. both extremely versatile, fast and amazing. Argument should end there.

i want detail in my photos and i do that action shots because i do photography for my school sport days.

@JaredPolin weeell, the noise performance is the same and I guess Canon's Video have been insane for a while ;) Also the Battery is half the capacity of the D3S ??.Sorry for the hater comment I'm gonna order a T-shirt now haha
