I always like the theory that Jay is the only person to not die the entire series because his element literally forces him to live. Even if he was drowning for several minutes, maybe hours- his element was beating the hell out of his heart to keep it moving, and in turn, keeping the poor guy alive and suffering.
That still wouldn't help, because the issue is that there's not air exchange occurring in his lungs, not that his heart isn't beating. Even if the blood is being moved around, there's still no oxygen being delivered to his cells and his system is building up carbon dioxide. With how long it goes on, there wouldn't be enough oxygen getting to his brain and he'd definitely be a goner.

It was not my intention to send you on an hours-long research trip, I simply meant to mention something I had learned in my lifeguard training handbook. Great video! Very festive. Since in the description it says to leave outlandish Ninjago claims in the comments here's mine. It's not really about the show itself but actually about Zane's voice actor Brent Miller being my voice acting teacher and just the fact that I know him. He also even mentioned me in his most recent friendly fanmail video (at almost exactly 11 min) because I sent him a Lego minifigure that he didn't have (Echo Zane).
@ABCKidsc ROBLOX he teaches it over Zoom. You have to email him to enroll. It costs $200 (American) for a month of classes which you can find out more about them by emailing him. 🙂
Does the drowning make sense? No But it don't have to be, because this is Ninjago. I mean Wu got eaten by the great devourer but survived with 0% damage. In real life he would be dead. So let's just pretend that they tried to get the water out offscreen but it didn't work and that people in Ninjago with this much water can survive for hours. Also Seabound was made during the pandemic. They reused lines and we have to be greatfull that it turned out this good (in my opinion the best Wildbrain season)

Interestingly to watch all of ninjago nonstop would take around 60 hours so for all those people that brag about having watched it in 2 days it's literally impossible. Edit i wrote this before finishing the video and it seems my math was a bit off
