@@tonyachirian7865 Ariana’s voice used to be naturally light and her voice was too back in her Nickelodeon days and plus she played as cat and maybe after using a fake voice she got in the habit of using it. But now her voice is much darker and more full and her technique has changed because before she kind of shouted but now is much more natural and at ease even though it sorta kinda was before but her voice is mature and changed. At one point she was critiqued for sounding mousy which I disagree but some people prefer other vocal types but this performance proves that she has a darker and fuller sound now and she sounds amazing!💙

my theory is that since quarantine didn’t allowed artists to tour, it allowed them to rest their voices, which helped improve the strength of their voices by a bit

I love hearing her sing at a lower key. The high pitch stuff is just overwhelming for me and she has such a good full voice !
They're both 10x more confident and it shows. I also love how you can just SEE the mutual respect they have for one another, it's actually beautiful. Sometimes when people collab and then perform it live, it's obvs they're trying to outshine one another. Here, they look like they're just genuinely happy and having fun performing this song together.

It seems like she dropped her stage 'act' and is being very genuine on her stage. Its not about looking pretty and being cool. It makes the audience watching more engaged to the experience and the music rather than on her.

Ari and Abel gotten so much better. I feel like Ariana kinda played it safe on this song as best she can cause just how the song is. It’s weird, Abel darkens his tone a lot in the song especially in the verse because the song by nature is a bit dark. Ariana kinda matches with that too from the way she sings her side too. I love how Ari’s belts sound a bit more chesty and more projected. I think from her Broadway skills, she’s able to do that just cause of how agile she is with her voice. When them both work together, they always know how to sing the song in a way where they are showcasing their strengths in their vocals but also know how to use it to where it fits their songs. This compared to “Off the Table” and “Love me Harder”, all sound different and uses different types of their voices to where each song sounds different from each other but still sounds great as a duet. Abel and Ariana both know what they are doing. Both in this song and live vocally and I’m here for it 🙌🏾
i think for this song ari was trying to not overpower abel. whenever she performs with someone else and it’s their song she always holds back. i think she does it to not take someone’s thunder when it’s their song. it’s kind of a respect thing which i really appreciate about her
Ari changed her vocal for her own health. Her throat claimed for that after years with absolut perfect and high notes.

it’s so true what you said about Ariana’s voice ! she’s said in past interviews that she’s learned how to stray away from that high pop-y voice and lean into her lower register and have more control over her vocal ability and range.
i absolutely love when her lower registers and ‘darker’ and more rich vocals come into play they are so brilliantly executed everytime.

It's just shocking how amazing these 2 sound live. Most artists nowadays would have had a backing track that sounds like this duo, just extraordinary! I always expect legendary sounds from Ariana, but The Weeknd also sounds very smooth and on-pitch.
